    engineering for complex access to once simple task of replacing thermostat is at the level of criminal designs

    I'm losing patience to work on cars these days. Once upon a things were really straight forward. I may be young but refuse to own something later than 2004. The video moved slow but was thorough and straight forward. They made it for people dumb enough to buy a Chrysler Sebring.

    Really a great video! Sad the engineers put it in a hard to reach place.

    I was really thinking I could do this myself until the amount of things to be removed to get to the thermostat exceeded 10 things lol

    Damn! First the battery location now the stupid thermostat is a ridiculously laborious job ! This car is worst than my last girlfriend.

    Hopefully this pops up and convenient place since it wasn't addressed in the video, plug the dipstick hole before you removed the thermostat housing. I promise the engine isn't thirsty and I think probably in fact it would be pretty angry if you gave it a drink.

    Ha Ha on me! I just rebuilt my alternator which is not at easy to remove as they make it seem and I flushed my radiator already which was pretty easy. If I would have known that the thermostat was back there I could have done it then. Working on a Chrysler is not fun. I will never purchase one again. But mine does run good when there is nothing to fix.

    Remember when Chrysler built engines where the thermostat was on the top of the engine right in the center where all you had to do was take out 2 bolts to do a replacement? Yeah that was cool. Now I want to choke out engineers for how overly complicated they make everything

      Those Engineers that are already dead they died from massive brain hemorrhages because they were stupid😂

    That looks like 1 o’clock. But I used the bolt hole as reference point and just put it about a inch to the right. Is that good enough. I was getting boiling reservoir with violent boil and the car temp was normal. Somekne said my thermostat was sticking. But I took the old out and put it in boiling water and it opened up fine. I had boiling and then I added coolant the next day and the car ran fine for about two weeks and then today it boiled again. So my friend and I changed the thermo. Hoping it will fix the issue. Problem is I have a Sebring and the way they made these cars is pathetic. I mean all it takes to know this is having to remove the driver side tire to get to the battery. This car is so stupid.

      @driverslqqk7940 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not only the battery location is effed up but you're probably end up taking the passenger tire off and the inner fender well to get it all those pulleys real stupid people at Chrysler

    While it's always been cool that it says 1995 - 2006 to show that you can do this for those specific year models however my sebring is an 06 and it's in a different location and the housing is shaped different which mean that the juggle nozzle is positioned different and the seal is shaped different also.

    • @530iguy5
      @530iguy5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not able to get the gasket to fit in the housing because of the way the thermostat is lipped, I have the same year as you

    • @JAYFLOPROBEATS
      @JAYFLOPROBEATS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@530iguy5 yeah man I was getting frustrated with that seal but eventually I just lined it up how it was suppose to be to the housing and I used the bolts to just seat it as I tightened it into place. It may look like it's not sealed at first because it's brand new but as long as you have no leaks after reaching op temp you should be good if you end up having leaks then readjust it. If it continues then you may have a defectively manufactured seal or a crack in the housing and have to replace them. But other than that I had no problems. Crazy thing about all that I currently pulled everything apart again because I removed my head and replacing everything and cleaning it. New timing kit, manifold, cat pipe ect.

    Why don’t yu just say take the whole car apart to replace the thermostat 😂😂

    • @driverslqqk7940
      @driverslqqk7940 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably be easier to pull the motor and then you can get out of everything this car has so many problems with design it's practically impossible to work on unless you want to spend hours and hours Fiddle Faddle and around taking s*** off that you shouldn't have to wow what happened to the good old days you can't even get your hand in the spaces to get at stuff what a bunch of dummies at Chrysler😮

    This video does not describe my 2006 Sebring. My thermostat is on top of the engine. Don't have to remove anything to get to it. Open the hood and touch it.

      But getting to the last housing screw is a problem because it's under the manifold

    hmm, yes. 168 in-lb could be substituted on an old fashioned torque guage as 14 Ft-Lb. Or, so I am told.

    That's not a 97 a '97 the housing is on the driver side down below on the side of the motor why are you showing taking all the belts and crap off that's not for a 97 that's what I searched for and you gave me this video Haines I don't know what this is but the thermostat is on the driver side and there's three bolts just like your showing but it's to the side of the motor above the transmission get your videos right

    um..wrong coolant type.... this chrysler takes what is essentially dexcool.. yes i know that's the gm brand name. same stuff only got a mopar name to it. should be orange.. not green

    • @ryanhuang8498
      @ryanhuang8498 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chrysler orange coolant is not Dex-Cool. It's G-05 HOAT but dyed orange. Same with Ford Motorcraft Gold,Mercedes Yellow coolant before they switched over to the G-48 coolant in 2011. Daimler bought Chrysler in 2002.

    This is a ridiculous amount of work to replace a $5 part. If it were me, I'd spend a dollar on a cheap lighter (or find a place with free matches) and a couple bucks on some gas (only if the gas can for my lawn mower is empty). Liberally scatter gas on the entire interior of the vehicle. If you can't figure out what to do from here, then don't buy a Sebring. 😂

    • @driverslqqk7940
      @driverslqqk7940 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not so fast in the Biden economy the thermostat is $35 and you don't get paid for the additional labor which is about 6 hours to take the starter out and the front tire and the inner fender well kind of like where they put the battery what a bunch of rummies I know why I don't own a Chrysler anymore😂

  • @handymanheroes6463
    @handymanheroes6463 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @driverslqqk7940
    @driverslqqk7940 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Real good video however I don't like Chrysler's idea of having to take the alternator off to get that three bolts on the thermostat housing that's crazy piss poor design and the alternator can be a b**** to get off of there you'll spend more time messing with it then you will take in the house and putting the thermostat in poor design😂

    Do you realize that in your still about the battery cable you are pointing to the POSITIVE? 🙄🤦‍♀️ The negative is above and to the left connected to the frame of the car. You know, like it's supposed to be. That right there told me you are not reliable.

    на двигателе 2.4 не надо всё это снимать. Там достаточно отсоединить патрубки и открутить корпус термостата
