    Consider having your iron and vitamin D levels checked as well. From an iron deficient and Vitamin D deficient nurse…. supplements changed the game for me.

    • @jeniseadriana
      @jeniseadriana  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Ive checked both, thank you! Iron levels are normal. Vitamin D was deficient last year but I was prescribed a vitamin d pill to get them back up.

      Vitamin D can show as “normal” sometimes but black/brown women need more than what’s regarded as “normal”. My sister showed as having normal Vit D but hair was falling out, she started taking 2000IU a day and her hair stopped falling.

    When you’re flat ironing try & just do one pass. Too many passes will kill your hair. Loved the video 😊

    • @jeniseadriana
      @jeniseadriana  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      One pass isn’t enough for how bluntly my hair is cut. My hair typically isn’t heat sensitive. If it’s breaking off or damaged, it’s usually due to something else. Thanks for the tip though, this may work for others!

I am not a fan of weaves and tape-ins but my natural hair is this length when blown out and silk pressed and I'm going to try and make the waves using the technique you shared as I have recently started wearing my hair straight with a center part. I have the same scalp issues. It’s very stressful. I changed my products to Camilla Rose and Melanin. Also, I started exfoliating my scalp with a scrapper or Paul Mitchell Sugar scrub for scalp. Stay away from Mielle the fragrance will irritate. Twelve products are pretty good. To be honest, the best thing that works is washing hair once a week.

    The Keracare dry & itchy scalp products work really well for me. I had a bad flare up after a hair stylist used Moroccan oil products on my hair last month (they smell divine but clearly weren’t great for my scalp). I have since returned to the Keracare dry & itchy scalp line (shampoo, conditioner & glossifier) and thankfully my scalp is back to normal.

    I had the exact thing happen with the sides breaking/thinning AFTER I had the scalp derm. First, I started rinsing my hair with an Apple Cider Vinegar/water mixture prior to shampoo to help with the scalp flare ups. This has been a game changer. 2) Deep condition under the dryer every wash (I also had to avoid oils and your other video confirmed that for me). 3) I started taking Hair Formula supplements from Dr Berg that are all natural. I’m 3 months in and my sides have started thickening back up and my density is better all over. I still pop in clip ins for my sides bc I have a bob as well. I have thinning in my crown but that was from alopecia. It has NOT gotten worse. I also added these herbal drops formulated for hair growth and they go in my water. I’m less than 30 days in but the person who told me about them is having success.
    I know hair issues SUCK. No matter what you do, I pray it improves quickly!

    • @thecarrielea
      @thecarrielea 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      sure! I put half water/half ACV in a spray bottle and spray my scalp in the areas where the dermatitis is flaring up. I rub those areas then let it sit for at least 5-10 min before washing it with shampoo.

    I recommend redken the blue bottle for breakage and their anti snap leave in. My hair loves it. And maybe use not a titanium flat iron it can be more damaging to the hair. That also might be your leave out? Use more protein, and maybe less extension give your hair a break once in a while. There are so many people who lose hair from tapering. Maybe do braids in the areas instead of loose hair. I use the Babyliss pro ceramic flat iron same results but healthier for the hair from some small research I did. Heat hair from inside out where titanium heats just the outside.

    My brother had the same issue in his locs and he got a shampoo from his derm it started with a K I don’t remember the name and we let it sit before rinsing and all he needed was one bottle and it haven’t came back … also I’m bleached and I just combed out my locs and tbh I wash and deep condition and put my hair in a loose but slick bun once a week and hydrate my hair every other day and my hair grew four inches and I also take a multivitamin when I remember and drink herbal tea and water everyday

    Girllll get a scalp biopsy. I was diagnosed with seb derm by a white dermatologist October 2023 . I was on the fence with her diagnosis plus i felt like the regimen she gave me with ketoconazole and steroid solution didn’t cater to black hair. I made it a point to book a appointment with a black dermatologist . At my dermatologist appointment with my black derm she immediately checked my scalp and told me to do a biopsy. She did the biopsy same day and i just got my results last week i have ccca alopecia that starts at the crown and can thin out the middle part. I just turned 30 this past august and feel devastated like this is young to me to be loosing hair like this.I have my follow up appointment Monday to discuss my diagnosis and the treatment plan going forward. I will say i had already had multiple blood test to rule out any deficiencies. They all came back in normal range.

    • @jeniseadriana

      Thanks for your input and sorry you’re going through this! It’s actually really important to me that all of my physicians are black. My dermatologist is black as well. She did mention that not everyone responds to the same seb derm treatments. We just switched up my treatment plan and if this doesn’t work, the next step would be to do a biopsy. I’d really prefer not to though, so fingers crossed this new treatment plan works!

      Thanks! However, I’m pretty sure it’s not from heat. I’ve been pressing my hair out the same way for over 15 years, and my hair is generally healthy. I also only press my hair a few times a month, typically just to film. My hair other times is usually in protective styles or buns. This is actually the least I’ve pressed my hair in the past 15 years.
