I live here in the States and the States has an extremely corrupted GMO regime that has failed scrutiny and is deliberately and systematically manipulated to favour corporations. Europe has had a more stricter regime and indeed the push is now towards ORGANICS even here in the States.
We don't GMO because we can import cheap food from third world countries.
The truth is that inadequate research has been done, big corporations not willing to fund the research as it is too expensive and from the cost-benefit analysis things don't add up.
In conclusion no one knows!

GMO destroys the HUMAN MIND and IMMUNE SYSTEM because these GMOS DESTROY the NUTRIENT levels of the foods, and so the BODY does NOT access the NUTRIENTS it needs! Why do you think they talk so much about INCREASING HEALTH CARE? because FOOD and BIG-FARMER-DRUG industry is the SOURCE of 90% so-called "lifestyle" DISEASES! its TERRIBLE how Kenya just UNBANS GMO without CONSIDERATION for POPULATION and its BIODIVERSITY and hence HEALTH and FOOD SECURITY. Kenyan need to really really watch out for the GMO scam.
I believe the world should exclude food from free trade so that every country can control what its people eat and because we want everyone producing food because we never know where, when and how long a famine will be. The country can then buy what they don't produce or when they under produce.

I understand the need for biodiversity but doesn't stopping people from developing their own seeds mean less biodiversity or does mean we want controlled biodiversity. Also, as we rush to plant GMO, there is a seed bank located in Iceland, I think, that is saving all kinds of seeds that have ever existed. That means that once we loose our seeds and want to reverse course, we will have to buy back our original seeds. I think that every country, or continent should have its own seed bank containing even the seeds they stop producing.
BTW, I saw a US farmer say that the maize he grows for animal feed is not sold for human consumption. I don't know how true that is. They also grow maize to produce sugar for the soft drinks industry. I think that is why I prefer the sugar taste in sodas in Kenya than in the US.
That imported maize is going to be duty free but I doubt the benefits will go to consumers but to the seller and millers. I thought the government is looking for revenue.
Covid was a good proof for those who consume GMO vis-a-vis those you feed on organic foods.

First it was Ruto's mad dash to attend the Queen's 🇬🇧 funeral, shamefully bundled in a tour bus. Then it was Rigathi's recent meeting with the Ukrainian 🇺🇦 ambassador where he shamefully received a maize 🌽 shipment from a nation currently at war, followed by a delegation of American 🇺🇸 representatives.

I thought the point of animal studies is so that we don't proceed with human studies if we find negative effects in the animal studies, otherwise we would only have human and no animal studies.

That its possible to RINGFENCE GMO so that it does NOT cross pollinate with NATURAL SEEDS, is a JOKE to say the least because HOW do youSTOP the WIND or BIRDS or other organisms moving around? In SWITZERLAND and CANADA, the FARMERS even went to the extent of BURNING MO FARMS, because clealry that RINGFEMCING does NOT WORK, and therefore CROSS POLLINATION still takes place.

This means that this TERMINATOR SEED will KILL OFF all the ORGANIC NATURAL SEEDS because these are COMPETITION for the COMMERCIAL SEED SELLER. IN NATURE< this DESTROYS the NATURAL ORGANIC VARIETIES and not just in the SAME FAMILY but also ACROSS the SEED biodiversity! GMO came to AFRICA last 20yrs because they were DISCOVERED to be HARMFUL in their European-AMERICAN countries of ORIGIN,and were being KICKED OUT! so Kenya only needs TESTIMONY of Kenyans living in South America,, South Africa, European poor, about the OBESITY in their communities and SO MANY DISEASES among the POOR EATING GMOS as THE RICH eat ORGANIC because they are the only ones who can AFFORD IT. YET in African ALL FOOD was ORGANIC AND NATURAL and thats why there was NO OBESITY and NONE Of these FIRST WORLD DISEASES! Why would you drive your populations into the BIO_MEDICAL INDUSTRY? Its better to BUY ORGANIC HEALTHY FOOD, than PAY FOR MEDICATION!! HYBRIDS have TERMINATOR technology which is why they TERMINATE producing proper havest within 1-5yrs!
I am all for organic, but the arguments being presented are not factual. In europe people are not obese. Where i live the GMO products are on the shelf in the supermarkets, but they are clearly marked GMO. I can choose to pick pre cooked GMo unga or pre cooked organic unga and there is no price difference.
