  • G'Day guys, here is part two of our two part series looking at Asetek's high end Invicta sim racing pedals. We'll go through the process of assembling and installing the pedals on our Playseat / D-BOX test rig here in the studio. Moving on to the RaceHub software, a series of Talk&Drive sessions and ultimately my final thoughts on the Invicta pedals.

    I have the Simtrecs and agree about the adjustability being a strong point with them. It allows for so much adjustability in brake travel and feel compared to the Aseteks.
    After watching a few of the reviews on the Asetek where brake travel is 20mm, I decided to add the hard elastomers and took out the slack from the pad to disc spring on the Simtrecs. It took some adjustment on my part and noticed that lap times were faster.
    I also measured the brake pedal distance of the Simtrecs and was able to replicate 20mm max travel with me pressing as hard as I could comfortably during sustained race conditions. The Simtrecs still gives me the option to add the hard plastic spacers to use in place of the hard elastomers if I want even more stiffness. Travel wise I know what to expect with the Aseteks, but am curious about the brake feel and have the Aseteks on pre-order.
    Another thing I'm curious about is whether the Aseteks short brake pedal throw is also optimal for other disciplines of racing, such as oval or dirt racing where progressive braking is more important? Hoping someone with more experience in those disciplines can chime in.

      @@991tts4Yes, I have the Aseteks for a few weeks now. Unfortunately, they leaked...but Asetek was quick to respond and their after-sales support was really good.
      Brake feel is really good at the limit as you can dance the car between grip and slip while trail-braking. The biggest adjustment is the pressure required to brake, but that comes with time. Whereas the Simtrecs offers a wider range of adjustability in terms of travel and pressure. I am currently testing a spring setup that I was able to fit onto the Simtrecs - an idea from a fellow Simtrecs owner - and am going to test for a bit before reinstalling the Aseteks.
      If you get the Aseteks, you will be happy. Ergonomics is personal. If you're coming from Simtrecs, that's tougher since you give up some features that they offer.
      Brake feel I'd say the Asetek slightly has it over the Simtrecs - although I'm still testing between the two - but Simtrecs has been flawless in terms of reliability and probably the best looking set of pedals on the market today.

    Hey AussiStig, If I were to set these pedals to their lowest setting do you think it would throw me around considering I'll be using the 'next level racing wheel stand dd' and an office chair with bell rubber stoppers instead of wheels? I'm really trying to do the whole 'buy once cry once' thing here and don't have the space for stationary rig yet! Would really value your op. Cheers!

      Hey mate no worries. The invicta brake pedal is very firm. On your projected set up they would need to be well anchored and possibly up against a wall. They do have softer elastomers now which I have not tried. These might give you a softer pedal which would help. Really hard to say having never tried a set up like yours. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck with the purchase Cheers AussieStig

    Thanks for the review. I would love to see a side-by-side hotlap using these pedals vs. SimTrecs, I'd like to understand how these pedals make you faster with some data to back it up. I really prefer the clutch & materials of SimTrecs, but I might look past all that if this brake really does give faster laps over time. Can you set up your SimTrecs pedals to match the brake feel here and get same lap times?

      Thanks for the comment mate. I already have another set of pedals lined up to review, neither will be back on the rig permanently. Both those pedals have very strong points and few flaws. @@SimRacingwithAussieStig All I asked was which one would you put on your rig, you have not answered that question.
      I understand the difference, Asetek great breaks, Simtrecs great adjustability that is a decision I need to make. For me, I am leaning towards Asetek due to the break and the price. I also am a little concerned about some of the feedback from the USB connection I have heard and the software regarding Simtrecs, nonetheless I no for a fact either one will be bloody fantastic but I do not own both where as you do.
      One needs to be pragmatic at this price point there is never going to be a clear winner and if anyone thinks so they a fool. Either option would and will be a bloody top pick for anyone but I was curious as to your thoughts what you would put on your rig.

    I have been focused on the difference between the Simtrec and Aseteks Brake feel but what about the clutch and Throttle. Would you say those are pretty much identical in feeling between these two Products?

    • @SimRacingwithAussieStig
      @SimRacingwithAussieStig  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate, the throttles feel quite similar. The clutch on the Aseteks does feel different to the Simtrec's mechanism. The Simtrecs have a more pronounced bite point feel which is due to the mechanical action of the solid connection between the pedal arm and the rear pivot point.

      Hey mate yes I have tried the Ultimates, very good pedals. Because of the T.H.O.R.P system, the brake feel of the Aseteks is very accurate and car like.
