AJ follows this audition with an a cappella version of Billy Holiday's "I'm A Fool to Want You", Sonny Bono's "Bang Bang (I Shot my Baby Down)" originally sung by Cher then Nancy Sinatra and finally the "coup de grace" to the other contestants George Gershwin's "Summertime". Shortly after her win on NGT AJ performed at an open venue in Norway with Dinah Washington's "What A Difference A Day Makes". Then she performed on The View her 1st TV appearance in the US with an acoustic version of "Fly Me To the Moon". AJ would sing FMTTM throughout her budding career and was invited by none other than Quincy Jones to not only perform at his 85th Birthday Celebration at the O2 Arena in London (12 yo) but to open the festivities. she is amazing in that since then, she picked her own songs. Her singing this song, Gloomy Sunday, broke the internet when they sent it out worldwide. From the very start!! The other three songs are on this same video and are very different from this but you can really get it. She was NINE when she did I Put a Spell on You. The next song she did acapella .. and it is very difficult to sing. She rocks it. Then she does Bang, Bang and ends with Summertime. Really worth seeing it all.

She was an American Jazz and swing music singer back in the 50's. Angelina admired her voice along with Jazz music and the singers from back in the Day. Angelin can speak and read English before 6 yo! Her father has worked/lived in several countries during Angelina's young years. He works in the oil industry, and has traveled a lot! There is a video where Angelina is like 4 yo, she shows her room and her toys etc., there she speaks excellent English
Yes I suggest to take a peek at Billy Holiday singing this. You would be surprised by the similarity as she is one she follows. All the old Jazz singers as Jazz is the hardest form of singing she is starting out at that level and
can then sing anything.

It’s worth listening to Billie Holiday, both this song and the next one she sings on NGT - “I’m a fool to want you”. It’s an old style of singing that requires getting turned into.
Incidentally, when the judge asks if she knows what the gloomy song is about, he pauses after her answer. Then he decides to leave it at that.

English was her third language of 4. She is seven in this audition. She is now 17 and the finest female vocalist to ever live. There has never been another with the talents of this young lady. You will never forget this day that you have discovered Angelina Jordan. She has always arranged her own music. She maintains that ability in her contract with Republic Records now. In all these years I have listened to she thousands of times in hundreds of splendid interpretations and yet every time I see this first performance and it makes me move again, like the first time, with that wonderful concentration of humility, simplicity, candor, sympathy and talent. Angelina is sure my preferred singer, she is a kind of daydream that has been going on for 10 years now and continues to excite me. Now she is a young girl of 17 old years and, if is possible, is even more amazing, this girl has an absolutely unique talent and taste and she is not afraid of anything, there are no impossible songs for her, she will find a way to transform them with her extraordinary musical intelligence. I love “little fairy.” She is 17 now and six feet tall. But she has been sprinkled with fairy dust for sure. I’ve been listening for several years. After a spell of only listening to her new EP for awhile I went back to these early songs. I had goosebumps again. That is amazing to me.

The reason Bjarte asked her if she knew what the song is about, is because this is a very controversial song which openly alludes to suicide...it was banned in several countries during WWII because of that, out of concern that it was causing folk to 'log off'....Angelina's mother didn't want her to do this song for that reason and, so, Angelina chose the verses which weren't too overtly suggestive and tickled the lyrics in a few places to turn the song more toward the feel of simple depression or sadness...I wonder if Bjarte realised how spot on Angelina was being when she said it was about "a sad Sunday"...because she had intended it that way...if you listen to Billie Holiday's original, you will be even more astounded at what Angelina did here...peace and joy from NZ

You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (170+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles(and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40-piece military band. If you compare it to the original by Billie Holiday when, I believe, she was 29,
you will think one singer (Billie) sang both renditions. This is when Angelina
was referred to as a 'vocal chameleon' for she displayed, not just this time
but many other times concerning other artists, that she can emulate them
anytime she desires. Here, it's as if Billie was actually reincarnated into a
7 year old Norwegian girl, who's 3rd language is English. Simply mind boggling.

Angelina Jordan is now a fully professional vocalist. As she told us in a chat, since age ten she wrote and composed over 100 songs. I recoomend also 2 songs which she sang at Norways got Talent and a few years later again "I´m a fool to want you" and "summertime". This will you all show how she evolved.

We fans of Angelina (called angels) hear a lot of adult reactions but rarely get to hear ones from her contemporaries (there will be songs from her at age 7 to 17). If you were feature to Lulu more, I am sure Angelina's fans would very much appreciate her point of view. I enjoyed your reaction to Angelina's debut performance. Of the 4 songs she sang in this competition, this was my least favorite. Then, after listening to Angelina sing it 6 or 7 times, I went back and listened to Billie Holiday perform the original... I was in tears... In order to truly understand what Angelina has done here, you really need to listen to her and then Billie Holiday. Then you'll begin to understand the magic that took place on that stage... This is an incredibly emotional song. It's a song about suicide. It's so powerful that it was banned in some countries back in the day. Listen to Billie Holiday sing it with all that emotion and you'll believe she was sharing the stage with Angelina that night. Over the years, Angelina's had so many magical performances. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The vast majority of the prize money was donated to charity benefitting poor children.
Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted.
In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration.
Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14.
At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon.
On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year.
During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each.
In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter and allowed Angelina to copyright her version. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career.
Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On TH-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video.
The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her.
During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.
In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.
Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield”
In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song.
Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022.
In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles.
On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions.
On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go"
On July 21, 2023, her “Old Enough” EP was released with 5 new original songs: “Fire and Rain”, “Diamond”, “Now I’m the Fool”, “All My Fault” and “Good in Goodbyes”
Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be.

@@CarlD70 A few months back, when I was suggesting angels to watch and comment on each video on her two channels, there were 33 videos on her Official Channel and 32 on her Cover channel. We know the majority of her videos are on channels other than her official and cover channels. I don't know if there were more videos on her channels a year or more ago.

Yes, this was the moment when the people of the world officially discovered Angelina. Besides her incredible vocal attributes what was so striking about this performance was her poise and confidence. She would later tell all of us she is most comfortable in life when she is singing 'for people', particularly on a stage'. Some members of her fan base (her 'angels') will be sending you all kinds of data (playlists and bio's) about her and you will find out why she sings barefoot. You'll notice the last judge (the one with his mouth open) asked her if she knew what the song was about. I believe he was asking to see if she was aware of the history of the song. That's because 'Gloomy Sunday' is known to history as 'The Hungarian Suicide Song' and was banned in parts of Europe during WWI because many believed the song had led to a rash of suicides in the population. Angelina, unaware of this at the time, I'm sure, simply replied Yes, it's about a sad Sunday and I think the judge was pleased to realize she had a simple child's view of the song and it's meaning. Thus the comment in essence Yes I could feel that sad Sunday. Amazing Angelina would start her career with such a controversial song. 🔥🔥🔥♥👣

It’s great that your daughter joined you. If you continue down the Angelina rabbit hole I think we all would love for your daughter to continue to join you. Angelina currently has a somewhat older fan base primarily because she started with covers of jazz classics and standards. However she also needs to build her following by young people to really advance and sustain her career. It would be interesting to hear Lulu’s reaction to Angelina’s new 6 song EP (released about a month ago). All songs are originals and all great.

Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy.
She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records when she was 14. She was not been widely promoted for a few years, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, things are changing rapidly as she has now graduated school. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond.
Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace.
