I have listened to a lot of Angelina's songs! Many try to catharize what kind of music she is best at singing. For me, this does not matter at all. Some of the music she performs brings old memories to life. This of course affects how I personally appreciate that particular song. But Angelina's whole personality always affects, in a positive way, what she does. Whatever it is! Singing, composes, arranges, etc.
From: keitholson40 Here is the quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on TH-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. "
I'd say even more so if you don't know the song but know Billie Holiday. I had never heard it and was attempting to do so when I discovered Angelina's cover. After the initial shock subsided and I'd shown it anyone who would listen, I was evidently so subconsciously sure I now knew how the Billie Holiday version sounded that I forgot to listen to it until the following day.
The other 3 performances on Norway's Got Talent are going from strength to strength Until winning the competition. You won't believe what you will hear from her from performance to performance...
Her quote from her recent documentary.. I realized my music is bigger than me 👍 that's what she always does, let us feel the music and the story 🎶 emotional moments 💕
THANK YOU SO MUCH for playing this! Angelina puts the song/music and lyrics first. To convey the message of the text and music to the listener. That's what a real artist does! Angelina is a master at this. Then, of course, she has a huge toolbox with various voice tricks to pick out if she wants! Angelina doesn't focus on showing off with spectacular high or long notes etc! Unless it is required to convey a feeling to the listener. She doesn't belong to the type of singer who "look at me singing"
Beautiful reaction, thank you Lauren. This was the first time I heard this little fairy sing, 10 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. In all these years by now I have listened to she thousands of times in hundreds of splendid interpretations and yet every time I see this first performance of hers at the age of 7, it makes me move again, like the first time, with that wonderful concentration of humility, simplicity, candor, intelligence, sympathy and talent. I love her wonderful sense of jazz musicianship from her very first performances. 💛🧡❤
For everyone who thinks "why does a 7 year old girl sing a song like that??? " Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. Watching Angelina from the age of 18months to now at the age of 18 well on her way to full filling her dream of being a Superstar is very special.❤❤❤❤👣
Lauren, thanks for your reaction. Today is the 10th anniversary of Angelina winning Norway's Got Talent. This audition was about 5 or 6 months earlier, before she turned 8 years old. No denying, Angelina understands the importance of storytelling. The musicians who worked with her, in her later performances of this competition, lovingly called her 'the boss', as she knew how she wanted to sing each song.
Wonderful reaction Lauren....she is very shy and reserved young lady. Her brain works on a different level than most human beings. She is a remarkable young woman now days at 18 years old and still as sweet, humble, caring, kind and classy as she was as a child. I would highly suggest you listen to Billy Holiday's version to get a better understanding of what this 7 year old just did here. BTW, the next 3 songs in this competition are quite remarkable to see the changes in her vocals over a few months, and teeth started growing in.😁😁 Thanks. Stay well. 🥰🥰
This song, this video had producers flying from LA to Oslo in order to see this incredible cute little girl and eventually try to sign her up. Luckily her family rejected all offers to protect her and allow her to live her childhood like any other kid her age.
Nice reaction. What you said about Angelina, the restraint, hit the nail on the head. Most child singers that you see on these types of shows try to sing as loud and as high as they can to impress the judges but other than that, lots of times there isn’t a lot of substance there. Here you can see from the very beginning Angelina is about the tone, texture, details, nuances and storytelling that most other kids her age don’t have a clue about. As you continue following Angelina you will see that she can belt but it’s only when she feels it’s needed for the song, never just to show off. She has so many tools in her arsenal and uses what’s necessary to tell the story.
A hauntingly beautiful performance, I've been addicted to her sound since the first listen. There are a few bad recordings out there, but no bad performances
This is Angelina Jordan the most extraordinary storyteller in my lifetime. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2023 Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway) I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare-a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being. (CopyRight)
I really appreciate your knowledge and commentary on this performance. To quickly work your way to the present, Angelina has been working with Toby Gad, a world-renowned composer and producer. She will release a new single on the 31st but it has already been pre-released. She is singing Beyoncé's If I Were a Boy, which Toby wrote. There is a video of her performing it on the 16th of this month in a hotel lounge. There is also a much larger performance to over 2,000 people at the London palladium on the 20th. Both of these performances are with Toby at piano. They're working on a larger project of new songs coming later in the year. Reaction to either of these performances would be wonderful. Peace out.
At one point you see Angelina’s mother getting emotional. She said in an interview that at that moment she realized she was going to have to share her little girl with the world now.
Toby Gad, and AJ have written a new song! The collaboration between Toby Gad and Angelina Jordan has sparked excitement with the announcement of their new original song "Bad Valentine." The anticipation for its release is high, especially after their recent performance at the Hotel Cafe. While the exact release date has not been officially announced, fans eagerly await the new material, which promises to showcase Jordan's unique vocal talents alongside Gad's renowned songwriting skills. Their previous work together, coupled with Jordan's powerful rendition of "If I Were a Boy," suggests that "Bad Valentine" will be another significant addition to her growing repertoire. The music community is abuzz with speculation and enthusiasm for this upcoming release. (CopyRight)
This is the song that began all the talk about Billie Holiday being reincarnated in this 7 year old girl. You listen to Billie's original, when she was 29, and it sounds as if the same singer is performing both renditions. Whenever she wants to do it, Angelina has this 'vocal chameleon' ability to emulate 'precisely' A -List singers. Quite soon after the NGT Talent Show, which she won, her rendition of Dinah Washington's 'What A Difference A Day Makes', is just as outstanding as this one was, for she captures Dinah's vocal sound so exquisitely.
The woman watching the monitor backstage was her mother. I believe she was wiping the tears from her eyes after realizing that she had just lost her daughter to the world.
Quien nunca escucho a Billie holiday, difícilmente pueda entender la emoción de los jueces. En esa época Angelina era algo así como la reencarnación de Billie.
look up the song Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holiday and you will be even more amazed at just how much this little 7 year old girl sounds like the original !!! seriously. she hits every note, every nuance, just amazing !!!
ANGELINA JORDAN 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING. Its a great short doccumentary shoeing some of her sell out Vegas concert but it has the footage of her singing with a mike at 18 months old.
As you'll discover as you delve further into her catalogue, Angelina is a virtuosa of restraint. Her "Goldilocks technique" is in her musical DNA: not too much; not too little; juuuust right.
Your comment was very accurate. Even at this age, Angelina respects the song and the music. She’s not there to show us how much she can do with her voice-she’s there to do justice to the song. As she gets older, we see an incredible vocal toolkit through her various performances, but she’s always giving the song what it needs, and no more. For a glimpse of how deep that vocal toolkit is, watch her cover of Adele’s Easy on Me. It’s a live performance in the studio, respecting Adele, but giving us something really beautiful that may well be your favorite version of this song. It's a very true comment how talent shows will manipulate the video and rearrange parts of it to better convey what they want to show. The only other Norway's Got Talent audition I've seen was for a rapper, Patrick Jørgensen, that got the Golden Buzzer. In the middle of his performance, the backstage host gives a tearful reaction for a couple of seconds but if you look closely in the background, the judge's panel already shows the gold X for his Golden Buzzer, so they clearly shot the reaction afterward and edited it into the performance. It's at 3:11 in this video: th-cam.com/video/l1k3GuSlknY/w-d-xo.html . It's a very moving performance (be prepared to cry) if you're looking for forgotten gems to react to, though it's not at the level of Angelina Jordan.
She has a couple of videos of her at age 6 in a recording session! Also a video of her at 18 months with a mic in her hand singing a Whitney Houston song!
Omer Bhatti the youngest judge who interviewed her about 2 years later when he was visiting his friends the Jacksons in the US at Christmas time he introduced Michael's mother to AJ's singing.
Lauren, I've been following Angelina for over a year and she never sings this song again. It's known as the Hungarian suicide song and I suspect that her parents said no more after she won NGT. Also thankyou for saving your comments during the song. I wish all reactors did. 🥰
If you want to hear her voice more clearly, check out her next performance. It was the judges cut, and she sang acapella. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUnYW5nZWxpbmEgam9yZGFuIGknbSBhIGZvb2wgdG8gd2FudCB5b3Ug
Her next ngt audition at aged 8 is performed A cappella . th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7OzdgpXh2lr2B2ay. " I'm a fool to want you " the full version .
The last judge: Do you know what the song is about? Angelina, being just a 7-year old child translated to the best of her abilities: It's about a sad Sunday... Only a few years later Angelina would comprehend the problem when her by-that-time good friend Avichi checked out with extreme prejudice (depression-induced suicide). Angelina is raised in a big, loving family, in a big loving society! Hard as this may be for a child, her solid and loving upbringing is likely to have carried her safely through this, one of the unexpected upheavals of growing up. Angelina seems to have her head screwed on properly....
Nice reaction. You're going to have a great time on this journey of discovery. Angelina is very special! Btw, you must not wear glasses. The judge had enough time to move his glasses from mouth to face many times in that interval. I'm not saying edits didn't happen, but the glasses are not an effective indicator. Looking forward to your next reaction.
I do wear glasses actually. And while, yes, there was technically time to do that whole move, it just doesn't make a lot of sense. But maybe that's because I can't see more than two inches in front of my face without my glasses, so the idea of taking them off to put the earhook bit in my mouth for four seconds seems weird.
@@AmericansLearn lol! I wear reading glasses now (after cataract surgery) and they go on and off pretty often and pretty easily. The next three songs on NGT are increasingly amazing. The finale "Summertime" is one of my top Angelina songs. Enjoy!

I can see you are trying to watch Angelina somewhat chronologically.if you are actually able to keep that schedule then you are a tremendously disciplined woman. Her development in her more recent EP, her Portsmouth NH concert , her Nobel Prize performance, her Vegas concert on the same stage as Elvis, and her most recent collaboration with Toby Gad, they are all just mind blowing ❤❤❤❤👣
Maybe my #1 annoyance in some of these is the music too loud. The point of appeal is the quality of her vocals and the subtle nuances. One of her best recordings at this age is the next song in this series. She does it with no music and it is stunning with her nerves of steel. Another Billie Holiday song, I'm a Fool to Want You th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html
So, she was 7 here. She was 9 for 'I Put A Spell On you'. For 10, you have to see her live performance of, 'Feelin' Good'. I think you will be surprised by the tone and total control of her voice that she has. Here is that link. She sings with a big band bordering on an orchestra. th-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/w-d-xo.html Angelina 10 'Feelin' Good'.

Lauren, you can do young and older. It will give you somuch content. But singing in that slow or soft way. That’s a part of Jazz. Jazz comes with a lot of Emotions. And slides. Almost unplugged. Please try and find some 40’s and 50’s singing. Or the Originals of what Angelina is singing. She is Educating some much youngsters about music

How nicely said, she has something that sets her apart from other singers.
The emotion of her singing reminds me of Frank Sinatra's favorite saying " to never let the singing interfere with the story telling"
And Uau her mastery in using the mic,7 y o.!

Omer Bhatti the youngest judge who interviewed her about 2 years later when he was visiting his friends the Jacksons in the US at Christmas time he introduced Michael's mother to AJ's singing.
The song, before it got to Billie Holiday was written about a contemplating suicide. I'm amazed her parents even let her sing this!
Lauren, I've been following Angelina for over a year and she never sings this song again. It's known as the Hungarian suicide song and I suspect that her parents said no more after she won NGT. Also thankyou for saving your comments during the song. I wish all reactors did. 🥰
her whole name is Angelina Jordan Astar. i think her last name is very fitting.
If you want to hear her voice more clearly, check out her next performance. It was the judges cut, and she sang acapella. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUnYW5nZWxpbmEgam9yZGFuIGknbSBhIGZvb2wgdG8gd2FudCB5b3Ug
I's rather see her react to the full, unedited version: th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html
I would like to hear you do AJ's singing at both of the Nobel Peace Prize Celebrations she has sung at as it would be very ,very interesting.
Wait for the NGT's final signing Summertime.
Don't mis that one.
Bueno traducir al español gracias gracias gracias
Winning at the age of seven with Norwegian talent is a good start to a career, isn't it? 😊
Won at age 8.
Enjoy!

You need to see 10 year old Angelina sign I’m still holding out for you it is Incredible. It is a leaked demo recording

Love your channel but, this session had your volume turned way too low. The NGT part had good volume but your comments were difficult to hear.
@ShanLiB Do you know about the Google extension: Volume Master? It can boost volume up to 600%. Perfect for YT videos like this one.
Nobody hits the point that a 7 yr old girl memorized an adult song in a foreign language.
But she learned it from Billy who she probably watched hundreds of times
"Go out and give them Jazz!"
You are the first reactor to mention my favourite comment (though "Old soul" and "Born to sing" are up there too.
If you want a recent one, I'd recommend "Unchained Melody" from Dec 2023

Lauren, you can do young and older. It will give you somuch content. But singing in that slow or soft way. That’s a part of Jazz. Jazz comes with a lot of Emotions. And slides. Almost unplugged. Please try and find some 40’s and 50’s singing. Or the Originals of what Angelina is singing. She is Educating some much youngsters about music
