    Ahoy Skookum! Ranger is so good! We’d never be able to keep our two goldens on the boat with dolphin nearby and certainly not in the dinghy with sea lions so close! We have to keep leashes on whenever we see wildlife in the vicinity! They’re great on the boat and dinghy until they see something that needs investigating. They even swim all over the anchorages when the salmon are jumping around us!

      Ranger goes crazy too when he sees sealife!!! We have him trained to watch our down riggers when we troll for salmon. If they bounce Ranger squeals and comes and gets us and cries. Sure enough there’s a fish on!!

      It’s been hard trying to make videos because of the weather lol. The Artic Northernly out flow winds discourage us sometimes! 🤣. Glad you are still watching us. Those sea Lions are sure big!

    BC is such a beautiful place. I could live on a boat there, like yours year round. Would I need a captains license if I had a boat similar to yours. Thanks for sharing.😊👍🇨🇦

      Hi! For our boat which is 40 feet you would just need a B.C. pleasure craft operators certificate. It’s just done online. If you wanted to use the boat for commercial reasons or chartering then you would need a special licence. Thanks for watching our videos!

    Thanks for showing the pull cord replacement. Not the most exciting video to some but helpful to see that i need to pack my patience if i run into the same issue with my Honda. The pull cord was a bit buried.

    • @MVSKOOKUM1

      Yes we had to take apart the entire Honda just to get to it! Wanted to share that unexpected things happen when out on the water. Sometimes we aren’t prepared. Nice to have spare things packed away. ⚓️. Our clips aren’t really for excitement. We are more for relaxation and to share some peace and nature 🦭🦭🦭. And a craxy boat dog

      @@MVSKOOKUM1 Don't sell yourself short on excitement, you guys capture some really cool whale shots, land some nice fish and haul in some good size prawns. All pretty exciting👍. You guys make some nice videos without the drama of the sky is falling because a pull cord broke, you just fix it and head for a hot tub. Cheers to both of you!

    Green / White Bow flag / banner what is it meaning ?🤔
    old small engine mechanic said to me, every so often put Olive oil (any plant based oil) on a paper towel slide up/down on the coard
    (a lot of friction build up on the coard over the years and being outside weatherd)

    When you guys were headed out and the boat was rolling did you guys have your poles out and fish in the water? Kinda looked like the poles were up. I suppose not worth the effort to put them out.

    • @MVSKOOKUM1

      Yeah we didn’t bother putting the paravanes down. It’s a lot of rope stuff to change over. We usually put the paravanes out when we go on ocean crossings or into the big swells. We tend to suffer through some chop and waves without them ! ⚓️⚓️

  • @GoldVP...

    Great little outing. I felt the waves when you first left, and wonder if Ranger will ever get used to the swells, or do you gravol him?

    • @MVSKOOKUM1

      Ranger can handle the waves for a few hours but when he starts getting really nervous I have some Travel Ease pills made for pets. Then he sleeps lots!

      @@MVSKOOKUM1 good to hear. My last inner passage trip from rupert to port Hardy was nuts, and I've never been on such a large vessel, under such intense weather, and I was talking to the owners of a husky, and he said that dog was so unhappy, but I have video of the ferry moving left to right while horizon is rising and falling. Most trips don't have that. Taken that route 9 times, just to save the stress of driving all the way around from lower mainland/pr george/terrace. Love the sleep on it

    • @MVSKOOKUM1

      Oh we have done that trip too! On our motorbikes! That ferry can sure bobble. It tends to go in big seas where we would think twice about taking our boat over the crossing. It takes us 8-9 hours to cross the open passage. We always hope for flat seas lol

  • @sailingcascadia612

    Huh. Not the worst thing to have to repair but Honda doesn’t make that pull cord easy to get to. Note to self: buy an extra cord for the 2200…

    • @MVSKOOKUM1

      Yeah having to take apart the entire thing to get to the pull cord was a bit tedious. After all that, the recoil has now failed. A new recoil is on its way. Boat repairs never end lol

    Now that we’ve sold our sailboat I’m thinking an N40 will be next for us. Do you know if an 11.5’ tender will fit on the boat deck? Can’t seem to find any specs.

    • @MVSKOOKUM1

      Hi! The people that owned Skookum before us had a 11.5 Bullfrog and MV Cassidy had a 11 foot Boston Whaler. I’m sure it would be fine. We love our N40. It’s amazing. Like a floating cabin with everything you need on it ⚓️⚓️⚓️

    • @sailingcascadia612

      @@MVSKOOKUM1 thanks. That’s exactly the tender I was thinking about. I loved our highfield but wasn’t very good about keeping the fish hooks out of it. Next time it’s going to be a rigid dink.
