    Excellent breakdown of the differences. I've written chapters for both NASM and ACE, worked for ACE directly for 5 years (I was one of the creators of the IFT Model) and have been a part of the exam development process. 1) here's a secret, according to the ICE guidelines neither organization can ask questions about their proprietary info (meaning NASM can not ask questions specifically about the OPT Model). you can use ANY exercise phys text to study for the exams. 2) NASM is owned by a publicly traded, for-profit company. ACE is a 501(c)(3) not for profit entity; profits from NASM go into shareholders pockets; profits at ACE go to programming and to provide employee benefits. It's your $$$ you can choose how it's spent. 3) ANY certification is just a foundation; to be a truly exceptional fitness professional it's important to commit to lifelong learning.

    I spent the last few months listening to this youngster "Eddie Lester" lol and his voice is now etched in my brain. I am what some of you would call a senior citizen (ok I'm a senior over almost 70). I failed the Ace exam first time around for many reasons, but what I found out was that I was an audio learner more so than reading. Listening to Eddie making "it do what it do" I would contributed to me passing the 2nd go around... thanks Eddie .. As far as which is better, I would place ACE at the top because of the commitment to "rapport", if I learn anything other than to know chapters 7 and 8, it would be that you must get a rapport with your clients if you want them to adhere and continue. It was an experience I will not soon forget... I BE DAM the old man is a personal trainer lol, and I know what I am doing and suppose to do.. thanks ACE and thanks Eddie.

    I made my CPT with NASM but when I did my exams was always 70% mark to pass the exams and 90% mark to pass the assessments, which I had 88% overall, and I paid 1390 GBP, with discount, probably in the UK they work different, but all you sad about the course it's pretty much that. I never heard about to have to recertificate, is that only in the USA or everywhere?

    I used the Ace Book when I went throught the WITS program first as I was going through college for MyDegree in Exercise Science > The First gym I was hired by required either NSCA or NASM within a year of my getting hired regardless of my original CERT and college education. Comparing the 2 from my experieanceonly because it is possible ACE got better , ACE is just slightly a step Above AFFA which is a joke cert that body builders take. NASM gives you a better understanding of how the human body responds to exercise and the pitfalls of clints living in the sendaentary 21st century. They give lip service to FUnctional Training and corrective exercise compared to NASM.

    I want a Fitness Mentor Really Bad. I am living in Japan, and love learning foreign languages, and meeting people from all over the world. What I want to change though is the activity that I am doing. Most days I am sleepy, and It's not because of rest, but due to the monotonous office nature. I am curious as to what it is like to receive a certification from NASM, ACE or ISSA outside of your home country. And what will you be able to do with it (if you are not working in the U.S). Additionally, as Eddie Mentioned, my focus is more towards combining fitness, behavioral thinking, and entrepreneurship. I just am not sure where to go next, this is why I need a mentor.
    Thank you!

      Hi Khari! I would recommend Issa,which has 90 percent pass rate and will help set you up with own website so you can teach personal training online.Sounds interesting.I recently passed my ACE GFI test which was relatively hard but I studied and passed.Working on obtaining ACE CPT cert currently and going for the gold .Both ACE certs are recognized in Europe.

    • @henrymosquera8646
      @henrymosquera8646 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pass rates for both ACE certs are 60 percent roughly.Basically,if you don't study,you are going to fail these exams.

    What are your thoughts about NSCA and NCSF?
    Also do you recommend to get a certificate if we want to be independent? Can we just read the book?
    Thanks

    • @fitnessmentors
      @fitnessmentors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!
      NSCA has fallen off the map a bit and they haven't done any revisions on their education in quite a while. (They still have the best Strength Training Cert CSCS). Im not very familiar with NCSF.
      If you are looking to be independent the Fitness Mentors CPT focuses on the business side of training more, which is the most important aspect of a private trainers education. Learn more here: www.fitnessmentors.com/personal-trainer-certification/
      Cheers!

    ACE makes this way more difficult than it has to be. They overload you with too much scientific information and it becomes overwhelming. I would not suggest ACE. I am having to constantly youtube videos to understand concepts because they don't explain things in a simple manor. I wish I'd known this before spending $1,000 on this program.

      I used to be an international student in USA, you are NOT allowed to work with F1 visa (student visa), so you bascially need working visa or Green card. however you will get to work after you finish your school and get a OPT which gives you a time to work for about 1-3 years depending on your major..

    $41K for all the work required to be personal trainer........NOT EVEN CLOSE.....to being enough. I would of thought $50K average..... If you’re good figured $75K-$100K. And if you are in select markets $100K-$250K.
