Went to eat at a favorite restaurant and saw their dining room was closed down. I almost started crying. This is when I know I'm overwhelmed with other things in my life; when I can't deal with minor disappointments.

    • @FilippaSkog
      @FilippaSkog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Same. I’m not a crier but also overreact to and get super stressed out about minor things when I’m overwhelmed. It’s as if you take the stress to a point but then the tiniest things can make the world crumble.

When I am very stressed or depressed I can’t differentiate between minor and major problems. They ALL overwhelm me.

Another TH-camr (can't remember who) suggested getting a photo of yourself as a child, and then when you recognize negative self-talk, i.e. I'm fat, I'm stupid, I'm pathetic, get out that photo and look at that little face and tell her that. Would you ever tell a little child that they're fat or pathetic or whatever? It usually results in tears because we all had grand dreams for what our adult lives would be like, and for one reason or another, many of us don't get to live out those dreams. But we need to be kind to ourselves and realize that even if we have made poor choices in the past, we can't undo it, and all we can do is look ahead and resolve to do better now that we know better.

@@Saforra99 Thank you so much!! I searched for hours and couldn't find the video I had seen before and it as Kristina Kuzmic! One thing really resonated with me especially. Kristina told a participant to look at her sweet little face as a small child and repeat the things that she says to herself now, and the woman said, "I can't. I don't want to crush her spirit." But we often crush our OWN spirits now with defeating self-talk.

If you have the money too, it is worth putting in sound-proofing. It was one of the most expensive things we had done but it meant we didn't have to move house. We can still hear our neighbour's music (!) but at least we can sleep through it. We used a sound machine until we were able to get it and it helped with our sanity

I have no problem living....like striking to the most basics....just staying alive, but when overwhelmed, I tend to cut out everything altogether. But then instead of taking the time to clear my long long overdued obligations, I just mindlessly browse YT just to silent voices out. It's procrastination to the extreme....those are not tasks heading me to long term goals, those are life threatening obligations....like attending courts.....>.< Tried all methods and self help....just worked one time & 10 steps backs after one ok day.

Thank you for saving me a counseling session fee. I'm overwhelmed right now being responsible for my husband who has suffered 3 strokes. His balance is affected and he is a very big statured man. When he falls, it's getting more and more difficult to get him up and on to the next thing. He has some really good days, but his bad days are becoming more frequent.
    On a lighter note, 🎶🎶🎶
I'm filling my 8th contractor bag of decluttering paper and stuff. One/month for the year. August is the 8th month, so I've discarded 8 by the end of the month. This doesn't count what I'm throwing away in my garbage pick up each week. I did begin on a room. If it took you 5 years, I'm on my way to 5 for myself. 💪

Marissa, I share your pain. I do not live in any "attached" homes, apt, condos, etc due to the fact I am a light sleeper. Once I am awake, I cannot fall back asleep!

Just started watching so not sure if it's mentioned but we're big fans of noise machines and well, fans, lol. So sorry for the neighbors and I totally get the life stress... we have 12 kiddos, only 5 left at home plus 6 grands so far... it's a hot mess from time to time 🤪. I'm working on my breathing and practicing the art of "no".
    Much love!!

We have a white noise machine in the kids room, but we found that in our bedroom which is directly below it doesn’t do enough to cut the noise! Such is city life 😅 thanks for watching and take care!

I just got divorced after 36 years of marriage and I do not believe in divorce. I'm depressed exhausted. I did get EVERYTHING I wanted in the divorce. My new year resolution is to be nice to all people. This video is totally for me. I always help at my kids school but NOW I SAY NO NO NO. I WILL LISTEN TO THIS VIDEO VERY CAREFULLY

💪 Making my bed, makes my me feel more relaxed after I look at it. My PT tells me not to over burden myself because with my medical condition, I will flare up for days if I don't listen to this advice. I must declutter/clean as I go. I'm still learning. Thank you.

As young as a pre-teen, I remember saying to myself that I didn’t want to hear criticism from others because I was was my own worst critic ! I don’t know why we get that way to ourselves. It has taken me years (in my 60’s now) to re-think & re-word my own self talk!!!!

💪💪 this week i am starting to declutter my photos and memorabilia. I have a massive amount of photos as i have my photos as well as my share of my mothers photos who passed away 20 years ago. That just shows you how long i have been haning on to this stuff!! Time to declutter!!!!!!!

Marissa, I cannot get over how wise and helpful you are. Your videos are so good! They are so well researched, presented, and completely down-to-earth. You are somehow my best friend even though we’ve never met. Thank you so much for sharing again. I’m behind because my mother has just been diagnosed with cancer and I’ve been so busy just getting that through my brain. Today was the appointment that outlined her future health strategies. 😣 Your ideas and this video are going to be played over and over again as I try and get some tasks done today. Love from 🇨🇦

Great tips, but I specially loved the “big three” right now, as a pregnant mom of a stomach flu 18 months old, who is supposed to keep up with her academic full time job, with no family less than 12 hours in a flight away. I hope upstairs neighbor chills out soon! You got this 💪🏼

🐔Sadly, all to often I'm running around bouncing from one thing quickly to the next. Or... Trying to keep all the plates spinning. Going to say "no" more & prioritise 2 things to do in the day. Breastfeeding was similar for me.
