This is a BEAUTIFUL RENDITION of a BEAUTIFUL SONG!!! Jim Croce was a gift to the world. He is a much under-rated and forgotten music icon whose gift was cut much too short. We can only imagine what beautiful music he would have continued to write had he continued to stay with us longer. But we can be very grtateful for the music that we do have from him!!! People like Jim Croce are a gift from God!
He and Lightfoot are my 2 all-time favorites. I was but a child when he died. When I took up the guitar in my twenties, he was the first place I headed. Jim's earthiness, songwriting and singing skills combined with Maury's virtuosity was absolutely magical. I'm sure they knew they were good, but they were just so great AND unique. I've never heard anything else like it.
45 years of guitar and vocal performance, and I can't touch this, my favorite song when I was growing up in the 70s. Outstanding performance of Lover's Cross" Thanks for sharing your talent ,sir.
Mr. Frost, Your version of Jim Croce's Lover's Cross is so emotional & moving. You make this song your own. This is my favorite song by Jim Croce. Thank you so much for posting your great version!
Wonderful cover. Jim Croce was a brilliant tragic songwriter whose lyrics and music are replete with sadness. I seldom hear him covered well, but this version was honest, well performed and added it's own character to this great song. Well done.
@bensdadfrank Thank you for that very kind comment I very much appreciate it, and thanks for listening. Jim Croce was one of my first "loves" of music when I was learning to play guitar, to me he is timeless.
Sang sadly and sweetly as this song should be. I really enjoyed your guitar work here. A great song by a master. This song should be more popular than it is.
@kxsupermoto so kind are your words, and I am glad you took the time to comment! I appreciate your comment and hope you enjoy more of my music. Jim Croce's music has meant a lot to me as a young man and also as I make my way through the years. I am glad that you feel that I have done this song some justice, it means a lot to me .
Not only did you do justice to the Jim Croce song, but you put it in such a way that you own that song. I will be your new subscriber from now on. Thank you for sharing this with the world, Sir. I'm sure Jim Croce will be so proud of you.
@afrost59 Wow!!! You sir are THE MAN! Your arrangement is beautiful, and the vocals are superb. Thank you so much for sharing. I will never forget turning the pages in my dads Croce book while he played. This had been a very special song to me since before I can even remember. And you have done it and Jim very honorably.
Please post more of your renditions of Jim Croce's songs. You have a repertoire of Croce unlike any musician I know. Your interpretation of "I've Got a Name" would a great place to begin. :-)
Very well done! Loved the guitar work, smooth and clean. Not an easy thing to do with singing it effortlessly at the same time. What brand and model guitar are you playing and are you putting it through an amp? I'm going to link this to my Facebook dude!! Excellent work.
That's really sensational; the best cover I have ever heard of ANYONE's song: Jim's song, your voice. Sublime. (Oh, and by the way, beautiful instrument. What kind of guitar is that?)
@dmclucas Thank you so much! My guitar is a Breedlove, no amp. I like the mic sound, I use amps for live shows tho and thanks for the facebook link, when you get a chance if you would like FB me Andrew Frost let me know you are from TH-cam! Thanks again
Very Cool, like I stated here, I don't attempt to really play like the original.. My rendition pales in comparison Glad it helped you out though ! Andy
