The group running Elsecar Heritage Railway had to shut down during the pandemic they had to hand the lease back to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
I look at this (sad) video and keep wondering what a difference a team of committed volunteers could make to the look of the place. I would be assuming they will have legal access to the area. What we are seeing in this video is "ditto for Canada" where I live.
Didn't they get a massive hike in the rent on the site? Just wondering why they closed. But why has 'Elizabeth' and the 'Toad' brakevan not been retrieved? A pity about the rail-gap or you could have gone 'weed-bashing' with Lizzie!
Very sad. I’ve travelled on the railway in happier times but all I can do now is hope.

Sad but I`m afraid we are going to see a lot more closures like this as the country`s demographic changes irrevocably.
