Been loving your channel for a while now the football stuff you've been looking into is great. It's always nice ro see an American look into the sport and try to understand why the rest if the worl loves the beautiful game.

Yes, Borussia Dortmund also sing "You'll never walk alone", but (as all other fans aswell) they have many more songs that are only about their cluband these are German, but this song just embodies the mentality of the club and the people so perfectly they sing it every time
The song the japanese fans of the Urawa Reds Diamonds sing was made famous by Rod Stewart, a british singer. It's about a sailor returning to his love. The URD fans made their own text to the music, showing their love to the club.
I've been waiting to see your reaction to the fireworks ever since you started looking into football. I was laughing like a maniac for a good 10 minutes of the video...
You can react to Chant Ultras - 'World's Best Ultras with Lyrics and Translation (Part 1)' They don't have copyright music (at least I don't think so).
Flares are common in Greece and Eastern Europe. They are not dangerous and they create an amazing atmosphere in the games as you saw at that PAOK clip( which happens to be the team that I support⚫⚪🇬🇷). Nice video and you could react at other ultra videos
Despite being a Tranmere Rovers fan, I love Liverpool YNWA ,and the Johnny Todd tune that plays when Everton's players run out, here at Prenton park we have the Rockford files ..!!??...good post SoGal...E
10:07: Yes, it is the same song. It's from the musical Carousel by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein (1945) and was covered by Gerry & the Pacemakers from Liverpool in 1963. Many clubs use it.
"How is that safe?" It's just not... The fire you see comes most likely from flares that fans smuggled into the stadium. So there was no fire marshall involved in the whole thing. It is not allowed but there is nothing anyone can do once it is started. However, the football clubs get punished by the corresponding football organisation if that happens (fines or they are forced to play some games without fans)
Really glad to see my team Celtic on here P.S we also sing You'll Never Walk Alone. The song was made by a band called Gerry and the Pacemakers. (Well the version everyone knows anyway, it's originally from a musical) They're from Liverpool so makes sense that Liverpool used it before any other club (and there's a reason for Liverpool using it but I'll let you watch the video you were going to watch to find out about that) but a few clubs use the song
5:10 There are club anthems, sung before games, not all the time, but some clubs have some unique chants during the game 7:49 Yup, Stadio Olimpico is a home ground of AS Roma and it was one of the venues for EURO 2020(1) 10:24 They should show "the yellow wall" for Borussia. Also Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have the same anthem, just replaced the team name in the lyrics, so that's not unheard of. 12:07 Flares are very popular among sport fans in Eastern Europe. I think some leagues banned them (and not as a safety hazard, but because of the smoke spoiling visibility), so they may be not so common now, but few years ago there were flares in every league game in my country.
Also a tip: look for videos with subtitles for songs, i believe "O canto das torcidas" in TH-cam has a lot of them, I reccomend Fluminense 2008 final in Maracanã or any Raja Casablanca video really
The Japanese song is actually a version of a song by Rod Stewart " We are sailing" which was also used as the theme song for a series of programmes about the Royal Naval Aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal.
I find it interesting watching American reactions to some football celebrations. You ask if they've cleared people out of the way for the fireworks, as though there are officials involved in the 'pyrotechnics'. There are no officials behind this, no risk assessments, etc. it's just fans bringing their own flares and fireworks to the game. It always makes me sad to see American sports stadiums have to put on bands, play music on speakers and get cheerleaders to cajole supporters into doing anything. In most European countries the fans make their own entertainment and the officials just stand watching in despair hoping they don't cause too much damage.
So talking about health and safety have you seen the Flaming Tar Barrels of Ottery yet ? (hint they carry the barrel while it burns). P.s. but I hate football and still enjoyed your vid, love the freak out lol
imo to have only Borussia Dortmund as the only german team is kinda wrong of corse they have the best atmosphere but schalke or vfb stuttgart or Dresden are up there. It is his opinion
Well, you react to european fans, i recomend you to see the really football fans in latin america, see some videos of Argentinian fans, like Boca Juniors, Rosario Central(the #2), Newells Old boys, and the Uruguai fans, Penarol and Nacional. I recomend you the derby games and finals, where the fans go crazy.
@@henrydauseb2844 Yes, in the second leg of the final, River Plate fans throw rocks and stones on Boca Junior's bus in the entrance of the stadium. Thoose rocks hit and injurie some players, and they moved the final to Madrid in order to Buenos Aires. The first game was 2x2 so was kind a 'One match' final, something that Libertadores addopted nowadays to the final.
As a pyrotechnic you really should watch Rammstein singing Du Hast in Paris. It will amaze and shock you, it does all Americans. Well worth 5 minutes of TH-cam time.

The Stadio Olimpico is the largest sports facility in Rome, Italy, seating over 70,000 spectators. It is located within the Foro Italico sports complex, north of the city. The structure is owned by the Italian National Olympic Committee and it is used primarily for association football. The Stadio Olimpico is the home stadium of the Roma and Lazio football clubs, and also hosts the Coppa Italia final. It was rebuilt for the 1990 FIFA World Cup and it hosted the tournament final.
The tune of "You'll never Walk Alone" has always traditionally been associated with Liverpool FC - though it's been adopted by others, of course. It comes from the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical "Carousel" of 1956 but popularised by the Merseyside pop group Gerry & the Pacemakers during the the 1960s.
Hey SoGal, you need to know that those "Pyro-Blinker-and smoke stuff" is illegal in europe as well. Always when those things happens the clubs get heavy fines (german POV). Everyone is scanned before going into stadium. So the fans break into the stadium a few days before the game to hide the pyrotechnics. 🙋🏼♂️
In the PAOK, Greece segment ACDC's Hell's Bells is playing in the background while teams are entering before kick off, so flares add some flair to the experience.
marvellous reaction start at 15.55 and after more and more impressive! So shocking lady when you said "no!no!no!no!nooooooo!!! you cant have fireworks effects"!!!😅😂 Sure they have and they do! greating from France! 😍
As someone else has said "You'll Never Walk Alone" is from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel" but in Liverpool local band "Gerry and the Pacemakers" released a version in 1963 and it went to No.1 in the UK. They were actually the first UK band to have three consecutive No.1 hits with their three first singles and held that record for many decades. This track was the third of those hits. As a consequence back in 1963 Liverpool fans adopted the song and Gerry has sung the song at Anfield a number of times too. Other clubs also adopted the song like Borussia Dortmund in Germany and also Celtic in Scotland. Celtic is pronounced "Seltic". I know you are 100% right about the fire effects but your face was classic when we got to this bit. We forgot all about the songs when the sparks started to fly. Just to clarify I think what you saw in those last two games was firstly flares, which is why the effect was static and also smoke bombs are used as well which might give the impression that things are on fire. Red smoke bombs. In Argentina however, they do appear to be using fireworks too. The flares are banned in the UK but it still does happen sometimes but it is against the law. I think you see more of this in Eastern Europe and the Baltics but it does happen in the Italian, German and English leagues sometimes.

in your approach to understand european football, it becomes essential for you to understand the culture of the supporters and their overflowing passion. the Copa90 video "Why ultras are important to football" and that can be a good idea for a video 😉👌
Liverpool, said to be the ones who started the singing culture among football fans. I don't know if that's true, but here is a video from 1964, where Panorama (BBC) visited Liverpool to take a look at their singing crowds: th-cam.com/video/oHdSaPt8RyA/w-d-xo.html
The 1959 FA Cup final was the first time a song from popular culture was (knowingly) sung at a football match. Forest fans singing the theme tune of The Adventures of Robin Hood (Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen, etc)
The Liverpool song, "You'll Never Walk Alone" is from the Rogers & Hammerstein Broadway musical, Carousel. Liverpool fans have been singing this one for decades and its a spine-tingling experience to hear 50,000 voices singing it at Anfield (Liverpool's stadium). In the 1960s, Liverpool fans also used to sing all the hit songs by The Beatles and other bands of the Mersey Beat. Supporters of Glasgow Celtic and Borussia Dortmund also sing "You'll Never Walk Alone", ironically to the same Gerry Marsden soundtrack. By the way, that fire festival you talk about in the video may be the Burning of the Clavie in Burghead, a small town near Elgin in the northeast of Scotland. The Clavie is a burning barrel of tar which is carried shoulder-high through the streets of Burghead by a selected man called the King of the Clavie. Only a native of Burghead can be the King. It's a Scottish New Year celebration unique to Burghead which dates back to Pagan times before the Julian calendar was reformed. It actually takes place on the 11th January to coincide with the old Scottish New Year. There are other similar Pagan New Year celebrations which occur in some Scottish country towns where selected members of the town parade through the streets ahead of the procession, swinging flaming bales of sticks and straw called a flambeau around their head. Judging by your reaction to the flares at the football grounds, it would probably freak you out, but it is relatively safe. Their purpose is to ward off evil spirits and to prepare for a fruitful year ahead.
#9 was "Sailing" by Rod Stewart, which itself was a cover of a Sutherland Brothers written song. The Sutherland Brothers began their career in 1968 as A New Generation, having some success with the single "Smokie Blues Away" (which used a melody based on the second movement of Dvořák's New World Symphony), backed with "She's a Soldier Boy" on Spark. Subsequently with the Sutherland Brothers Band (featuring bassist Kim Ludman[4] and drummer Neil Hopwood), they won a new recording contract with Island Records and put out an album in 1972. Their first single as the Sutherland Brothers Band was under this contract, and was a minor hit, "The Pie", in January 1972. Their follow-up single was "Sailing", which had much radio play but was commercially unsuccessful (it was later covered by Rod Stewart).[3]

Welcome to Health & Safety standards around the world. Next up, the almost complete lack of hearing protection in the US while being anal about pyrotechnics....
to be fair, these flares and fireworks are banned just like they'd be in the US but people smuggle them inside, so it's not really the safety standards that's the issue just that football fans, especially ultras, reaaaaally love their flashy lights :D
The fans from the big club's in Istanbul are definitely amazing when it comes to the atmosphere it's so loud and intense, especially with there Derby's and rivalries. The fans from the English Premier League with all the rich owners behind them becoming quite boring, the fans of Liverpool FC for example singing their song at the beginning and that's it, in Champions League if they can the foreign fans from the continent do all the stuff for atmosphere, but the tickets are quite expensive for these games in England. The most stadiums in Italy or Spain are almost empty because of the fan unfriendly strange kick-off times. Come to Eintracht Frankfurt, Dynamo Dresden, St.Pauli, Union Berlin or VfB Stuttgart from Germany, before the virus the Stadiums Germany are always full and the German Bundesliga is almost the only that can offer that with a good, not so hateful atmosphere, of course exceptions are always possible. East Europe, Balkans and Greece are massive, but it can be dangerous from time to time, because of some very old rivalries, it's a kind of religion for them.
@@SoGal_YT It's ok lots of people make a similar mistake. If you're interested here's a video on the history of Celtic football club th-cam.com/video/gFWUf_v-CCE/w-d-xo.html Might be worth a reaction?
"You'll never walk alone" definitely started with Liverpool but nowadays a lot of other clubs have it as a song before the match as well. I'm from Germany and here at least 2 or 3 clubs in the Bundesliga (first Division) sing it. I think it's just a great song that has an even greater message especially within Football. So I guess the german clubs didn't really steal it but embraced it just like Liverpool to present this message that noone in the stadium has to ever walk alone. This bonding really works well with Football I think and I'm glad multiple clubs use it
Japanese fans are generally known to be polite and very silent during events, especially in MMA, kickboxing etc. But when it comes to football everyone is crazy lol
Don't want to disillusion you,but I think you should be aware that there has been-and still is-a more offensive/unpleasant side to crowd chants & behaviour in football.
Search for "Rua de fogo Internacional" and see this flare up happening all across the streets around a stadium in Brazil. It's kind of known that football games are dangerous places to be, not only because of things like fightings, but there use to be extremely over capacity crowds back in a day (like 150-200k - more then double the full capacity now allowed). There are some tragedies as well with people dying and getting hurt.

The song the japanese fans of the Urawa Reds Diamonds sing was made famous by Rod Stewart, a british singer. It's about a sailor returning to his love. The URD fans made their own text to the music, showing their love to the club.

Flares are common in Greece and Eastern Europe. They are not dangerous and they create an amazing atmosphere in the games as you saw at that PAOK clip( which happens to be the team that I support⚫⚪🇬🇷). Nice video and you could react at other ultra videos

the "Roma Roma Roma" chant is really the most amazing part here, and at that video it was when Roma beat Barcelona to get to the semifinal in 2017
10:07: Yes, it is the same song. It's from the musical Carousel by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein (1945) and was covered by Gerry & the Pacemakers from Liverpool in 1963. Many clubs use it.
I love your content and football so thank you for making me smile
"How is that safe?" It's just not...
The fire you see comes most likely from flares that fans smuggled into the stadium. So there was no fire marshall involved in the whole thing. It is not allowed but there is nothing anyone can do once it is started. However, the football clubs get punished by the corresponding football organisation if that happens (fines or they are forced to play some games without fans)
Really glad to see my team Celtic on here
P.S we also sing You'll Never Walk Alone.
5:10 There are club anthems, sung before games, not all the time, but some clubs have some unique chants during the game
7:49 Yup, Stadio Olimpico is a home ground of AS Roma and it was one of the venues for EURO 2020(1)
10:24 They should show "the yellow wall" for Borussia.

'Carousel' is from 1945, '56 was the film version

Hey SoGal, you need to know that those "Pyro-Blinker-and smoke stuff" is illegal in europe as well. Always when those things happens the clubs get heavy fines (german POV).
It is not only banned in the UK but everywhere. I think flares are great and part of football culture

That was entertaining. You simultaneously aged and then looked like an eight year old during the last two .
