Of all the Upanishads (sacred Sanskrit texts), the Mandukya Upanishad is the shortest - consisting of just 12 sentences! - however, it is considered the most direct and the most powerful. The commentary, or Karika, composed by Gaudapada Acharya 1,500 years ago, it is regarded as the highest text of nondual Vedanta. Its goal is nothing short of transcendence of sorrow and the attainment of unshakeable serenity by the direct intuition of your own nondual nature. From January 2020, Talk 6 of 6.
Swami Sarvapriyananda is the minister and spiritual leader of the Vedanta Society of New York. He joined the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in 1994, received sannyas ten years later, and served in the Hollywood Temple. He was the acharya of the monastic probationers’ training center at Belur Math, and also served as the vice principal of the Deoghar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School. He regularly gives retreats and spiritual talks throughout the United States.

Finally someone I can converse with on the following level - albeit your message was sent around a year ago I hope to receive your reply one day to the following:
Bhagavad Gita 12.6 to 12.12 includes Krishna mentioning one by one: Karma, Dhyana, Jnana, Bhakti:
Dhyana: Just fix your mind upon Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and engage all your intelligence in Me. Thus you will live in Me always, without a doubt.
Bhakti: if you cannot fix your mind upon Me without deviation, then follow the regulative principles of bhakti-yoga. In this way develop a desire to attain Me.
Karma: If you cannot practice the regulations of bhakti-yoga, then just try to work for Me, because by working for Me you will come to the perfect stage. If, however, you are unable to work in this consciousness of Me, then try to act giving up all results of your work and try to be self-situated.
Jnana to Dhyana to Karma: If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however, is meditation, and better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind.

@@jshdhdyjfjdjfhfyyene731 First of all, let me get my ego out of my way.
      There.
      Om Sri Gurubhyo Namah|
May the dispeller of darkness guide us |
You have rightly pointed out the right ways to live
      1. Immersed in learning (spiritual knowledge)
      2. Meditation
      3. Karma
      * Work done in spiritual consciousness
      * Focused on one's work... and not on fancy car, apartment... and so on.

@@goamgoam You are absolutely right and I've happy you replied. I'm interested to know how you got your ego out of the way.
Darkness is not dispelled, it's impossible to dispell darkness (because darkness is not), whereas light actually is and one cannot cultivate this light, it's already with us, tát tvam ási (That thou art).
The three are correct, Bhakti was missing. Bhakti gives us meaning to performing work without fruitive result. One may ask who this fruitive result goes to, it goes to the ultimate supreme truth, spirituality, God. That way we cannot claim that the result is ours thus as you have rightly said "work done in spiritual consciousness". Hence Bhakti is important as are the three stated. th-cam.com/video/dDIdHh2-mF8/w-d-xo.html

@@goamgoam It is clear I cannot claim to know it, nor can "I" claim. I am only guided by my spiritual masters for this material manifestation is temporary, keeps us clinging to it without freedom and cannot bring one to self realisation
Yes spending time and conversing with truth seekers (devotees of truth or bhaktas) will catapult one beyond that which drags our mind away from truth. Association with bhaktas and will do this effortlessly.
This is beautifully described by Lord Shiv in prayer to God mentioned here: "My dear Lord, I wish to see You exactly in the form that Your very dear devotees worship. You have many other forms, but I wish to see Your form that is especially liked by the devotees. Please be merciful upon me and show me that form, for only that form worshiped by the devotees can perfectly satisfy all the demands of the senses."-Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (Bhāgavata Purāṇa) 4.24.44. you mentioned you made a declarative statement to remove the ego, Bhakti requires no statement to be declared, it is love; like a parent loves their baby unconditionally (of which ofcourse surpasses any pangs thrown at the parent of material life to love and care for their baby), it wouldn't be right for the parent to make a declarative statement their a baby to say "I declare I will love you".
If you ever have the opportunity to address a gathering of devotee seekers of truth then do please recite these prayers given by Lord Shiv from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 4 Chapter 24 if I may ask as a humble request.
It is stated that material nature's pull pervades the universe like a dark well thus it is impossible to fight. We must deliberately do such things as move ourself to the company of devotees and engage in these talks with intent. Only then real bliss is attained, what then to speak of trying to come away from material desires for sense gratification?! For this will become a natural byproduct. God is the seed and from it Bhakti sprouts shining light which paths the way to truth and way beyond (to a whole different realm) material desires.
Yes no TV, movies, etc is a must because again this is not only material nature that the viewer is engrossing them self in but it is snap shots of it from different times and places, this indirectly pulls the viewer of seeking truth so is detrimental to the seeker of spiritual growth. This is better explained from 2:36mins in this video: th-cam.com/video/Mn2B0_5VRyw/w-d-xo.html
That's a wonderful email reminder you have, yes only truth and kindness is all that matters. This is something that Gandhi had made important. Truth is what the seeker of knowledge will eventually find but with effort. Kindness is what the practitioner of Bhakti will inevitably find without effort.
This is clearly stated in the Bhagavad-gītā chapter 12 Sloka (text) 5 explains Truth (Brahman referring to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme) and 6-7 referring to kindness through bhakti as follows (from vedabase.io/en/library/bg/12):
TEXT 5: For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme, advancement is very troublesome. To make progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied.
TEXTS 6-7: But those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviation, engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O son of Pṛthā - for them I am the swift deliverer from the ocean of birth and death.
TEXT 8: Just fix your mind upon Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and engage all your intelligence in Me. Thus you will live in Me always, without a doubt.
This is why kindness is greater than truth, truth might not necessarily lead to kindness however kindness always reaches (and is) truth and effortless.
Bhagavad-gītā chapter 12 is very significant in learning how and where to switch between Karma, Dhyana, Jnana and Bhakti.
Upon practicing Bhakti it is possible to see the key important difference between Lord Buddha and Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is Buddha however also has bhakti thus making him superior to quickly attain the ultimate goal of life. Hence Krishna begins where Buddha ends. Or can be inferred as to where the realisation of God's love and devotion (Bhakti) begins and where Buddha (karma dhyana jnana all of which are somewhere tinged with material nature) ends. A junction where the transformation of the truth seeker's journey includes and gives greater emphasis to Bhakti is assimilated through chapter 13 of the Bhagavad Gita as Krishna explains, like a Eureka moment! This video reminds me of this cleansing of the heart: th-cam.com/video/EmGSh3nBYQc/w-d-xo.html
Bhakti contains no tinge of material nature and if it does it is not bhakti although to an unlearned guru it may not appear as bhakti so only either the bhakti practitioner or learned guru knows this.
"Free from attachment to worldly pleasures, content with the fullness of Atma (the true self), like a lamp shining inside a pot, the enlighted ones shine, established in themselves" (Verse 50 of Shankaracharya's Atma Bodha). We can't see a lamp shining inside an enclosed space, so too we can't tell if someone is enlightened or not by observing from outside (of that body and mind), that person and person's most dear guru alone know.
"Even though embodied by their bodies (physical and subtle), the enlightened are unaffected like space, eventhough enlightened they act like fools, moving about without attachment like the wind" (Verse 51 of Shankaracharya's Atma Bodha). Because the enlightened feel completely content and fulfilled, they have no plans, no goals what so ever, they simply Respond (not react) appropriately to each situation, situations that arise according to their remaining Karma.
Listen to these five Jagadgurus (of which the first is Shankaracharya): www.mykrisndtkp.com/list-of-5-jagadgurus-in-india/
I could go on; so will stop here for now. I'm sorry for the long reply.
I'm wishing you well as always Amit. Hari Aum 🙏
