You will get more channels with a antenna.I get about 54 with my old indoor Terk antenna and the two rabbit ears are broked,from falling,on the floor.Still,work good.Anyhow,it also depends on the distance from the broadcasting stations and some antennas are better than other.My old Terk antenna is very good,even if the rabbit ears are much smaller than they used to be.
It mainly depends on the tv tuner, your location, and where you place the antenna. But the paper clip does work as i used one on a 55in Vizio LCD, didnt work as well on a newer 70in Samsung
