0:46 To be fair before this DLC we only had antilopes and bovines so in terms of veriaty we got our first deer and sheep.
@Jacob Tidwell Yea, JWE has Lambiosaurids,Hadrosaurids,Iguanadontits and even delved into smaller ornuthopods with Dryo and now Planet Zoo is doing the same, plus there's a hole lot of endangered deer,sheep's and goats that could be introduced and alot of the more common ones are pretty popular in zoo's.

It's your fault that they decided to visit your zoo in freezing temperatures wearing shorts and t-shirts, they gotta complain.
All the people complaining about the penguins, even though this was very clearly Arctic dlc.
Also, I love the pack, especially the Vicking aesthetics. For the first dlc I was kinda hoping for more animals - as was everyone, but this is still a great start. I feel like they could have at least fit some smaller animals in like maybe a Lemming exhibit. Some other habitat animals would have been nice, such as arctic foxes, musk oxen, and wolverines, but it seems like a lot of work so it's fair to not have too many habitat animals - and who knows, we might get another ice/tundra dlc in the future with these animals.

Just thought of this idea for a future DLC. It would be cool to have Farm animals, so we can build like a barn and possibly have a petting zoo like RL zoos have.
I am also loving the Dall Sheep! They're so different from all the other animals we have... And yes, it's another hooved animal, but it's a goat/sheep-like animal, and we don't have one of those yet! I love the Dall Sheep. I want huge herds of them everywhere.

Just a small correction - the ice and snowball are actually both available in the base game. I haven't bought the DLC and I've been able to use them both. I think this goes for those trees too, unless they out different stuff on the tree from the base game; either way there's a 'Christmas tree' in the base game

Some animals you could include into your arctic zoo are - The Polar bear, Arctic Wolf, Dall Sheep, reindeer, timber wolf, snow leopard, and if they ever add any more animals seals, penguins, or arctic foxes! Or even an aquatic pack!
Still no European Lynx 😭 my fave animals, they'd fit in perfectly.

They should have more of a larger reindeer population, since in real life over 40,0000 reindeer can migrate together, and travel very LONG distances!
I hear they’ve updated a few things, and they’ve justified the pack interactions so now it’s not just two wolves you can have in an enclosure, but a literal pack (this goes for the timber wolf, the Arctic wolf of course, and the African wild dogs (at least that’s all I know the pack social justifications go to))
Because you are doing the whole regional theme zoos, (like temperate Asian and such) each with their own backstory.. I think it would be absolutely AWESOME if you did a Polar military base theme, like a frozen lake (if they ever become possible) That has become a runway, some military buildings etc...
Maybe even a converted Inuit village that has been inhabited by military with some boats cutting through the ice or whatnot. The reason why I advise to do military/research theme is because, especially nowadays, the majority of settlements in the arctic circle are military and research bases, especially in the Canadian archipelago (Alert, Canada), northern Greenland and northern russia are basically all military bases, and on the south pole, there is no native population, once again, all military stations (like McMurdo station, Antarctica)

Informative video, and you sound so passionate about animals & this game got my sub! I am not sure what the rectangle eyes are called, but I know it is usually for prey animals that a low to the ground and need peripheral vision day AND night. The eyes block sunlight but allow an almost 360 degree view
Reindeer is the term for a domesticated caribou
that's not entirely true. they have evolved into distinct subspecies. the american is the only one called caribou, and there are wild reindeers in scandinavia that it would be wrong to call caribou.

Fun fact:Reindeer and Caribou are not the same animal!
Hundreds of years ago native canadians domesticated wild caribou after decades of selective breeding and inbreeding the resulting animal was dubed "reindeer". In the wild there are many different subspecies of caribou, including but not limited to: the baren-ground caribou, the woodland Caribou, the prairie Caribou, and the boreal caribou.

Reindeer Horns are not Called Horns they Called Antlers! so use the Names right!
Yup, antlers fall off and grow back every year. Horns grow from the skull and they're permanent, if an animal with horns loses one, it won't grow back and the animal will be a unicorn for the rest of its life.

We'll be getting even more ungulates, of course, since they're the most plentiful land mammals and there's still many amazing species not in the game, like markhors, muskoxen, moose, elk, bighorn sheep, rocky mountain goats, impalas, gerenuks, blue wildebeest, water buffalos, blackbucks, nilgais, takins, yaks, greater kudus, whitetail deer...

TheEmeraldSpider T.E.S Arctic generally refers to northern animals, included in the very top of North America, Greenland, and Russia ie: the North Pole.
Penguins are only found on the southern portion of the earth, generally on Antarctica as well as the southern portion of Africa, South America and Australia, and other islands. Ie: the South Pole.
So I’m sure you can see why penguins wouldn’t be included in this pack.
Quick PSA: This building style is not Viking. It's Scandinavian, yes, but it's from the Middle Ages, not the Viking Age. And it's specifically inspired by a certain kind of churches, stavkirker, not a general building style. The more you know ✨

Very disappointed that there is no muskox. The sight of them huddled together fending off the cold or predators is so iconic. Very disappointed that they are insisting polar bears need such a huge habitat. The only reason why they have such a huge range is to forage for food. While waiting on the pack ice to form they concentrate in areas. Do wildebeest in game also need a huge pen so they can migrate from on side to the other?

A little disappointed that there doesn't seem to be any dimorphism between male and female reindeer. Both do naturally have antlers but the males usually have much larger ones and it appears the ones in the game are identical. But other than that nitpick with the deer the stuff in this pack looks awesome!

Please show animals as much as you did in your other clips from now on. So many times I see you build animal exhibits but barely get enough time to see and enjoy the animals.

Ungulates are mammals that walk on 2 toed hooves, so not everything with hooves is an ungulate. c:

They don't live in the Arctic. Maybe they're for a marine dlc. I don't see them doing an Antartica dlc since besides a few penguin and seal species, Antartica barely has any wildlife.

Caribou and Reindeer are the same species, Caribou is just the North American name for them.
As BestInSlot said, Reindeer and Caribou belong to the same species (Rangifer tarandus). The species is split into several subspecies that can be found across the Northern Hemisphere. Caribou is simply used to refer to North American subspecies, while Reindeer is used to refer to Eurasian subspecies (including Domestic Reindeer). Technically it would not be incorrect to use the terms interchangeably since they are all the same species, so no, Reindeer are not "completely separate" from Caribou.
Particularly because the ones in the game are from both North America and Europe, they are very much Reindeer and Caribou.
Caribou are called reindeer in Europe.
