Agree. It literally looks like they finished designing it and then realized, " Crap, we forgot to put a screen in...ah hell let's just tack on a fake ipad and call it good."
I agree.I'd like to know their rationale for putting the screen where they did.Seems like they're saying that tech is going so fast that they don't want to integrate it into the instrument panel.
Just realized that although the shape of the body is quite different, the overall front and rear fascias on this car are quite reminiscent of the new Buick Regal GS, primarily the taillights and headlights.
I like this car. True, that screen is a little awkward, but it's that way in the CLA, and I don't really fault it in and of itself. I don't see it as cheap or weird. At least the screen is higher up on the dash so you can see it while looking at the road without too much trouble. I wouldn't do it on models higher up than the C-class though.
The interior looked bizarre to me and isn't quite the home run this video suggests. Also, where is the gear shift? Is it recessed? And what is that large compartment just above it used for? Hopefully they provide a more ample glove box and storage.
Guys stop moaning about the sat nav screen. Yes i completely agree it is an after thought and cheap looking but what about the rest of the vehicle?... its class leading any way you look at it... Basically its a mini S class for less than half the price if you fully load it up. The elegance grill with the air panel in particular looks positively bold and striking. Its the only car in its class with air suspension... I can tell you a ton of things wrong with bmw 3 series or Audi A4. Nothing in life is perfect and this C isn't but it sure is the best in its class for now.
Sorry, but the navigation system is very important. I've had two C classes (2011 and 2013) and the integrated navigation in my current one is great. This looks tacky and given the expected price increases is probably going to mean that unless it's fixed, I'm going to be considering other options at the end of my lease in December 2015. I do like the exterior look. It is a nice redesign. Agree that the 3 series BMW is way overrated. Great driving car but a big zero on style.
It's evident from the sensuous curves of the exterior of this car, a far cry from the sporty and rigid lines of the previous generation c class, that it is more geared towards luxury than sport. This new trend follows into the cabin, where the emphasis on luxury is quite apparent. I commend Mercedes for improving the interior considerably, but I wonder how this car, from the outside, will look in amg guise. Its aforementioned soft exterior lines may pose a challenge for amg, a company accustomed to styling more hard edge looking cars.
That is a terrific looking car. Some of you complaining about the nav screen are hilarious. You really think that anyone purchasing this mini S-Class car will think the nav screen is the deal-breaker? Not for this BMW driver.
Well I must say I like the tablet style screens in this and such automakers as BMW. I have always hated that extra long dash top or double binnacle look that houses the gauges and the nav screen. Now audi does retract but for the most part every time you use the screen it would protrude from the dash anyway so in essence it looks the same way. If you can't see beyond a tablet screen which most of you all are typing on with your responses then that is you. The tablet allows for layers in the design of the dash. In my opinion this dash is better than any I have seen including the S-Class and I hope Mercedes keeps it up.
People who don't know cars are going to be mistaking the base model and the new S class, and the v6 model and the new E class. Which takes away from the more expensive models.
its a sick cabin, but that ipad like nav is a bit of a disappointment. I feel that in shady neighbor hoods people would smash my window thinking they could detach the screen as a tablet...
My two biggest gripes: first, the rear looks odd, I think the taillights are just way too far apart from one another thats throwing me off; secondly, the horrible placement of the media screen. MB seriously couldn't even try to integrate it more into the dash? especially if they're going for "luxury" here, I find it odd that they just tack that thing on and make it look cheap
the avant garde version of the previous model was far better looking than the elegance version, but for this new model I prefer the elegance grill. Interior looks OK at first glance, but if you look at the details more closely it is full of minor disappointment. a nav screen from the mazda 3 and a center panel from the volvo in a brandnew mercedes?? I don't think this is what they should do.
I have to agree, the screen looks cheap and would be a nightmare to clean behind. Too bad. I wouldn't be changing over to one of these this time around, but one day they'll get it right. Can't make it too good or no one will buy an E class.
I hope people from mercedes benz is reading this. Why on earth would you use that fake tomtom nav device as a dashboard screen? This is an awesome car to its every single detail, except for that horrible disgusting screen that makes it look cheap
Finally, Mercedes has created a C400 that can be comparable to BMW 335i as far as power is concerned. The exterior looks beautiful particularly the front and side lines. Rear is acceptable. However, Mercedes always find something to mess things up. What's up with the interior? The interior is average at best. Even Honda or Nissan's looks better and by the way you can get it without spending as much money as you would on Mercedes. The interior is a copy of a CLA. This is not an improvement....wake up Mercedes....
Whoa, what is wrong with these engineers at MB ? This is EXACTLY like a smaller S class...it looks the very same on the outside, and that screen is just cheap as shit, horrible, disgusting for this level... the 3 series is definitely better this generation.
The screen is a fail. I miss the intergrated screen that they used to have. Might give this one a miss.
Agree. It literally looks like they finished designing it and then realized, " Crap, we forgot to put a screen in...ah hell let's just tack on a fake ipad and call it good."

LOL kids who buy their cars based on the monitors are not really in the mercedes target group anyway. buy yourself a xbox and a lollipop.
swunt10 C Class is targeted at "Kids". Please don't hate.
Jello Shot Don't act all big, hotshot.
Just realized that although the shape of the body is quite different, the overall front and rear fascias on this car are quite reminiscent of the new Buick Regal GS, primarily the taillights and headlights.

Hey what about the 2.1L diesel engine? I thought the diesel was coming with the new c class??
I love it! Inside and Out... good job Mercedes-Benz.
Can't wait... can't wait to be able to afford it.
The interior looked bizarre to me and isn't quite the home run this video suggests. Also, where is the gear shift? Is it recessed? And what is that large compartment just above it used for? Hopefully they provide a more ample glove box and storage.
The interior is an upgrade, but they got the screen wrong! Looks out of place in that beautiful interior
tell me someone why they didn't go with the dual clutch transmission
A LOT NICER THAN CLA ! This is a real Benz, finally !

that opening shot is from my City Windsor Ontario Canada?
It sure is.
I just don't get that suspended screen up there. even in the CLA it looks strange in my opinion

I WANT THIS CAR!!!
It's like owning half of E series front, Cla interior and Half of S Class at the rear lol...
I personally like the screen, idk why everyones hating
whats wrong with BENZ and these aftermarket screens !! is it too hard combining it into the dash !
shame about that ugly screen - thought they would have learned their lesson with the A class/CLA
Well I must say I like the tablet style screens in this and such automakers as BMW. I have always hated that extra long dash top or double binnacle look that houses the gauges and the nav screen. This is perfect.
that center console flow looks like came from Volvo S80/60 or other models..interesting
The Mercedes C-Class has been a big hit at Detroit. Big success for Mercedes this year?
The screen makes the interior look tacky just like in CLA and the Mazda 3.
2:54 somebody really messed up that air vent.. it's crooked
the front end is nice
so beautiful, so my car!!!!
wow so nice
So now it's a mid-size?
Interior is nice "without this bad screen!"
Waaay better than the present c
i hope there c63 for these soon i may wait to buy
C400 looks amazing but not so much with the C300
the screen... why... :(
Why would they make such a great looking car and then do that with that horrid stick-on screen?
its a sick cabin, but that ipad like nav is a bit of a disappointment. I feel that in shady neighbor hoods people would smash my window thinking they could detach the screen as a tablet...
I'm not sure I want my C-class to look like a small S-Class.
yeah thats not an all time stupid comment
My two biggest gripes: first, the rear looks odd, I think the taillights are just way too far apart from one another thats throwing me off; secondly, the horrible placement of the media screen. MB seriously couldn't even try to integrate it more into the dash? especially if they're going for "luxury" here, I find it odd that they just tack that thing on and make it look cheap
The front is from the E class and the back is the S class.
the avant garde version of the previous model was far better looking than the elegance version, but for this new model I prefer the elegance grill.

that nav screen has to go
its hideous from the back, just look at it !
What's with all these automakers making their satnav screens look so aftermarket? Integrate it! Don't be lazy!
It looks like a shrunken S-Class!
Why no diesel? Smaller than E but does not get the fuel-efficient diesel? How does that make sense? Marketing playing dumb games again.
what is up with the garmin sat na....just use a suction cup and stick it on
I have to agree, the screen looks cheap and would be a nightmare to clean behind. Too bad. I wouldn't be changing over to one of these this time around, but one day they'll get it right. Can't make it too good or no one will buy an E class.
No awd diesel coming to the US big disappointment.
20/15 MERCEDES C CLASS 20/14 DETROIT AUTO SHW CALIDAD CASTEL
I hope people from mercedes benz is reading this. Why on earth would you use that fake tomtom nav device as a dashboard screen? This is an awesome car to its every single detail, except for that horrible disgusting screen that makes it look cheap
nice car ,wo.o
That screen placement is terrible
right
Hate the backside. Why are we going for the bubbly look now? That was early 2000's. Everything else looks great.
Everything's perfect expect for the screen..
Looks like they just stuck a tablet on the car.
Guys the channel YouCar has the new 2015 Chrysler 200S video uploaded, go check it out (:
The front and rear look horrible but at least the interior is really pretty.
This car has a fine ass.
Looks like a littler s class
The interior looks like an upgraded version of the 2006-2011 C class interior, and almost a downgrade from the 2012-current interior. Not great. IMO
much sport
super!!!!!!!! Хочу:)))
meanwhile in Syria...

Screen doesn't look good. Looks like it belongs in a Hyundai or KIA.
Whoa, what is wrong with these engineers at MB ? This is EXACTLY like a smaller S class...it looks the very same on the outside, and that screen is just cheap as shit, horrible, disgusting for this level... the 3 series is definitely better this generation.
Rear looks outdated
They are keeping that same garbage 7 speed auto?! wtf! Even the CLA got a twin clutch trans.
update too often. bmw updates every 7 years. mb updates every 3.

Bad interior...
