    Cobra Daytona vs Ferrari, a legendary match-up from the glory days of racing. It was a privilege to get to see it, my sincere thanks!

    Wonderful action! I love the way the drivers show no mercy on those vintage racing cars! We're actually getting to see how those cars performed under racing conditions! (in this case RAIN!) No display/parade laps... instead they're RACING, and racing HARD! Love it. Long live the Goodwood Revival!!!

    I can't express my respect for these men running these irreplaceable historic machines flat out in the rain. These machines were built to race and race they do.

    That Shelby Daytona is the most beautiful car to ever exist and there’s nothing that can tell me otherwise.

      yes, almost as beautiful as the sound from the side exhaust

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@freeautoinsurance365 - Absolutely. Never heard that level of quality sound from any Corvette with side pipes. Some of it is due to the Weber carbs and configuration of the Cobra's exhaust headers, too. Sure would have loved to stand by the Mulsanne Straight when Bob Bondurant went by at better than 195 MPH! Wow, incredibly beautiful sound.

      The drivers in these priceless cars are fooling around, that was real racing. I love the curving, undulating Goodwood track for vintage car races...always exciting. Well done Martin Brundle - 6th to 2nd in less than half the track from the start! Probably made Nick Mason happy.

    "A long way back for the second place car." That was a pretty standard finish set up for the Daytona Coupe! A dominant machine to put it mildly!

      Agreed, and you could also argue it's where F1 needs to be headed rather than the ultra expensive path it's currently on.

    Brack and Kristensen in a Daytona Shelby Cobra ? Is that even fair ? Lol, love seeing these very rare, VERY expensive cars raced. Props to the drivers and owners that make these happen.

    It is to be hoped that these great racing cars will be racing every year forever. Also fantastic to see Murray Walker and the other Formula One and GT legends. Time is passing too fast. The Revival reminds us of that, but we can stop the clock for just an instant...

    Wet track and old tire technology means you slide the car through the corners. This is racing!

      It was actually quite a refined car by the standards of the day. Certainly very aerodynamic compared to most of what had come before it. Peter Brock (the designer) says the car was instantly 20mph faster than the Cobra's, even before they did much fine tuning to it.

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ivanjulian2532 The aerodynamics of Pete's design made a massive difference in top speed - just what they were looking for. Think of it, the 427 S/C roadster at best could hit 180 MPH. The Daytona, with a "little" 289 cu. in. engine topped out at better than 195 MPH. Solid proof of the importance of aerodynamics at high speed. Shelby was working on a 390 cu. in. all aluminum engine, but the car's racing history stopped before it was built. Would have easily exceeded more than 200 MPH!

    • @ColeDedhand
      @ColeDedhand 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Peter Brock was only 22 when he designed the Daytona Coupe. Designed by a 22yo kid from aerodynamic theories developed by the Germans in the 30s. Built by a few gearheads at the Shelby shop in 3 months from a few sketches. And went out and beat Ferrari in their own back yard.

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Patrick Simmons - The amazing thing is the Daytona Coupe is powered by a small block 289 cu. in. V8 with 4 Weber Carbs and some 390 HP. That was enough for Bob Bondurant to hit 197 mph down the Mulsanne Straight! A 427 big block Corvette at the time wouldn't come even close to that speed.
