WOW WOW WOW !! Thank you for all of this Great Info..!! I also Have 2x Motu 24io and one 2408mk2 interface..How Mouh time did this takr from A-Z ?. I now have more to think about ..LOL ...Thank you ..!!
I planned it for a few weeks. Made up the block diagram so I could visualize it. The rewiring and software setup took about 5 hours plus more time to troubleshoot issues. I'll do a full report on my experience in about 30 days (Early February 2025). Thanks for the comment.
Fantastic video. I appreciate the long form format and TotalMix is more powerful than any hardware mixer once you get your head around it. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the ARC USB because it is essential and can programmed. I originally had the silver but sold it once when the black version came out, because of the coolness factor. I am RME fan myself 😊
Outside of my skill set but interesting and very educational. The studio must light up like a dream. Still working with old style analog recording. My ideal option would be to have a Kurzweil K2700 ,acoustic guitar, vocals and acoustic bass with an electronic drum set into a small mixer,(Zoom or Tascam) with Neumann mikes effects and onto a CD recorder and a reel to reel tape. Best wishes as always and happy new year from the Caribbean .
I don't envy you trying to run your gear without a mixer. I can just imagine the ins and outs that you have to deal with. That diagram alone would give me agita. I only have 4 synths to deal with and the routing would be difficult at best since only 2 of them have midi thru capability.
I have a very similar setup using Reaper as an audio and midi router to route keyboards, guitars, mics and FX. I've been tweaking it since I first set it up about six months ago and it is actually working really well, it's reliable and has low (i.e . no noticeable) latency. I have a single midi controller keyboard which can select any of my eleven (stereo) synths and drum machines for instant access, and I run the router in the background while recording or mixing. My setup is a little simpler than yours though because I don't send to external FX. I use the faders on the controller keyboard to adjust two sets of monitors (near field and far) and I use the two headphone channels on each of my two interfaces for four different headphone mixes. This is a static setup in that I don't change any of this setup. The problem I have is that on this static setup I have no spare inputs so if I need some input flexibility I use another interface temporarily. Anyway, interesting video, I picked up some ideas.
I have a couple of audio interfaces just trying come up with my best setup: a main one is U-phoria and an old Saffire pro for a total of 16 analog inputs. I would like to set up my interfaces so that I could use it with my outboard fx using send buses. I have plenty of unused outputs but I wouldn't want to waste many of my inputs as returns which I could use it for my synths and drums. What would be my best approach hooking everything up?

I like mixers! 😛 But hope you feel better soon.
Thanks.

Thanks, I'll consider getting the ARC once I recover from December holiday expense. I love my RME interface too. Always appreciate your comments.

Yeah, it was a chore. Thanks for the comment.
Very impressive work.
Thank you, sir.

I'm probably going to do an episode on looping hardware effects into a DAW in a couple of months. That should help you.
