I'm not sure how many people actually notice that little nugget, but I always found it funny.
The introduction of the Stab movies is my favorite part of 2. Stunt casting Luke Wilson, Heather Graham, and Tori Spelling for the Stab clips is hilarious!
And Neve felt horrible saying that line, but Tori thought it was funny and played the part in this one to show her there were no hard feelings. Always thought that was cool as hell of her to not take herself too seriously.
Ah, you laughed at Tori Spelling appearing, but didn't seem to get the full joke - in the original Sid is asked who would play her in a movie of her life and she said "knowing my luck, Tori Spelling". Spelling's a good sport so was happy to cameo in order to be a punchline. Best line of the film: "There's one thing you forgot about Billy Loomis. I fucking killed him".
I understand from a technical standpoint why the first movie is better, but something about this second one really triggers my nostalgia for this era. This cast is the peak of 90's young actors. Also, I don't think Ms. Loomis came out of nowhere. They speak heavily about her in the first film; we just finally get to see her here. So, when she was killed off early on, it came as a great shock to audiences in a similar way to Drew Barrymore's death in the first film. Another thing to notice is that Joshua Jackson is one of the students in class, but he also played Pacey on Dawson's Creek, played by James Van Der Beek who had a quick cameo on Scary Movie as he comes thru the window when Cindy is making out with her bf, as Dawson had a lots of scenes of him coming thru Joey Potter's, played by Katie Holmes, character. Gellar also starred in Scooby Doo movie with Matthew Lillard/Shaggy who played one half of the original Ghostface killer, Stu Macher.
8:28: I haven’t seen Ladybird yet, but she’s Jackie in Roseanne and the sequel series The Connors, was the voice of Andy’s mom in all 3 of the original Toy Story films, and Sheldon’s mom in The Big Bang Theory (and her daughter took over the role in Young Sheldon)
What are you talking about, George? Granny Smith apples are delicious as "eating" apples. 😁 (But then, I grew up eating Jonathan apples, which were the previous "favorite cooking apple.")
Granny Smith are def not just for cooking, Greens are one of the most popular snacking apples worldwide and have outlasted other sweet varietals like Red Delicious. They are the Superior Apple.
Fun stories ---Sarah Michelle Gellar (who has a black belt in Tae Kwan Do ) did a few takes and ran up the stairs being chased by the killer .The director Wes Craven took her aside and told her she was running not like a victim but someone who could take care of herself. A crew member came up behind her and grabbed her she decked him.
Before. She wanted her fighting to look realistic, so she asked Scooby himself to teach her the craft. All it cost her was a few Scooby Snacks from what I hear.
This is one of those movies where they think that bullets can throw people. When Mickey got shot at the end, he does a ridiculous dramatic back flip. That's not what happens when bullets hit you. But it was funny. And this is something that nobody points out, the last name "Loomis" was a nod to Dr. Loomis from Halloween.
I cannot be the only one that thinks Scream 2 is the best one- It has arguably the franchise's scariest opening (getting stabbed to death in public and feeling mocked when you cry for help by dozens of people dressed as your killer as your last agonizing moments on Earth is just evil, even if it is Jada Pinkett Smith) Every scene with Randy in this is ICONIC. It introduced Dewey's theme. It's got an amazing cast of characters that rivals and compliments the excellence of the original's. The improv in this movie was insane. The script has no business being this good for how much of it was rewritten and shot day of. Derek is probably the franchise's most underrated character and he's never gotten his flowers (Sidney was never as happy again as she was that day in the cafeteria, at least on screen in the movies) Gale has the best chase scene in the entire franchise and her character arc in this is chef's kiss. Dewey's fake-out death gets literally everyone the first time. The acting in this is dumb good (but also the acting is good in all of them) It's a really cool snapshot of a very interesting and controversial time in America (the OJ Simpson trial was huge) It has arguably the best ending (Scream 3's ending is up there) Wes Craven directed the shit out of this movie, easily his best work! Scream is 10/10. Scream 2 is 12/10, it is that sequel that surpasses the original in my useless opinion.
Love to see people experiencing Dewey’s theme, repurposed from the film Broken Arrow, for the first time. Totally unaware of the effect it’s going to have on them over four more films.
5:01 The crazy thing is that this happened irl too. There's so many movies/tv shows about real killers and their victims.... and just like in that movie, people love to watch this sh!t
I haven't ever heard anyone noticing this... but Randy says 'I'd let the geek get the girl!' In filmclass and then Ghostface says this on the phone right before he gets him. That's when I was 100% sure it was Mickey.
I mean, we all do it: criticize characters for doing something stupid in horror movies, regardless of whatever trauma or shock or concussion they're dealing with, even though we - the ones criticizing - would be dead in Act 1 because of a dumb decision!
"We" my ass. Y'all maybe. First thing I did when moving to America was acquire a decent amount of guns and get my permit. Fuck that noise >_> Ghostface getting shot directly in the dick.
I've read that the identity of Ghostface was revealed online before the movie was finished, so the ending had to be re-filmed with a different character as one of the culprits. Considering that this movie came out only one year after the first, that must have been a brutal schedule for the editors. Perhaps that's why they borrowed music from "Broken Arrow" instead of taking time to write and record a new score for particular scenes...they just didn't have the time. SPOILERS FOR THE COMMENTERS If I'm not mistaken, Sydney's friend Hallie was the person who was originally collaborating with Billy's mother. That means that during the cop car sequence, the person in the Ghostface costume was actually Mrs. Loomis and she faked the stabbing of Hallie. But all that was changed when they switched to Mickey for one of the culprits. One thing I've noticed (having re-watched this movie several times) is that "Debbie Salt" is not around when Sydney is being hounded by reporters, because Sydney would have recognized her easily. I get that you guys felt that the reveal of the second Ghostface seemed abrupt, but I believe that was actually the plan all along.
I’ve heard there were supposed to be 3 killers this time and the other 2 were supposed to be Hallie AND Derek and the 2 were lovers behind Sydney’s back
Everything you need to know about the backstory to explain who the killer ultimately is gets laid out in the single clip from "Stab" that Dewey and Randy watch in the coffee shop.
As a former RoI citizen even I'll concede and admit that shit was _NOT_ an American small. But yes, most of you are fat slobs who do nothing but stuff your face and sweat while tying your shoes.
Just gonna throw this out there. There is no bad Scream movies, even the only one the fans consider the weakest is still good in it's own rights. I really hope the new one doesn't break that trend cause of studio execs of all things.
10:40 - When I rewatched these for my channel about two years ago, I recognized the background music from somewhere.....Broken Arrow! It was from the film Broken Arrow!
*The piece [called "Brothers"] from the "Broken Arrow"-Score [composed by Hans Zimmer] was used originally just for the test screenings, because the Marco Beltrami-Score was not finished and they had no music-theme for Dewey. Later they've decided to still use it, because they've like it better than the finished Marco Beltrami composed "Dewey"-theme.* ⬅🎸🎵💿🔊🔥😈
Simone, Buffy had already been filming season 2 when Sarah played her role in this movie. Just made me laugh because she was kicking ass in one show and then doing the stereotypical bimbo quote from the first movie about running up the stairs when she should be running out the door. Someone already mentioned it but on Randy you can see some lip prints in blood on his hand. Apparently this was to give the impression the killer was a woman, but personally either of them could’ve been weird enough to do that. Loved this reaction. We all needed a boost after today’s nonsense. I know you probably have a schedule mapped out but please consider reacting to the 3rd one asap. Love to you both ❤ - Katie
I am a little freaked out about by this coincidence. I randomly decided to rewatch the reaction video to the first film while I was eating breakfast about 45 minutes ago.😄
It is so much fun when watching the scream movies to sit and compare them with scary movie, the toilet scene, the scene with the black newsvan etc etc. And also Simone, the idea of characters retaining the abilities the actors got/learned in previous movies/tv-shows could be fun. Like Stallone keeping his expertice from Rambo through to Cop Land, Spy Kids and the Expendables.
This was in-between the filming of BtVS S1 & S2, which I find highly amusing because the original idea behind the show was to circumvent the idea of the characters she played here and in _I Know What You Did Last Summer._
Nobody ever notices Portia de Rossi as the blonde sorority girl in this movie. She even gives off hardcore Lindsay Bluth vibes. And Tori Spelling playing Sidney is a call back to the first Scream. She mentions to Tatum that if it was a movie, she'd probably be played by Tori Spelling. Good stuff.
The music when Dewey is first seen in the film and then when he and Gale start their own hunt for the killer, is Hans Zimmer’s music from Broken Arrow.
It doesn't take just 1 day to film a scene like that... plus she did reshoots also when they went to reshoot the sequel talk classroom scene (Sarah wasn't included in that originally).
In the original drafts of Scream 2, the intended killers were initially set to be Debbie Salt (Nancy Loomis) and Mickey Altieri. However, alternate versions included Derek (Sidney’s boyfriend) and Hallie (her best friend) as potential accomplices. The script was rewritten after a draft leaked, leading to the final reveal of Mickey and Debbie as the killers. This change was part of a strategy to maintain secrecy about the killers’ identities, with various decoy scripts circulated during production
This movie was filmed at UCLA I was attending UCLA and watched them film this. It was the summer of 1997 and some great movies came out that summer... men in black, contact
I attended the red carpet showing of Contact at the old Fox theater in West Wood that summer. The best summer... rollerblades and ska playing on the portable cd player.
Some interior scenes were filmed at UCLA like the classroom film discussion, Randy and Dewey suspects scene. Most of the school exteriors was filmed at Windsor College in Georgia.
The script was leaked online, which was a huge deal in 1998. The internet was barely a thing. Kevin Williamson had to re-write the entire script due to the leak and the ending being known online. That probably lead to some of the extra precautions that they took when they shot the final scene.

Having a bullet bounce off you rib is perfectly realistic. Your bones are pretty dense and lower calibre bullets can easily bounce off them, especially curved bones like ribs. In fact sometimes a bullet does more internal damage precisely because it’s ricocheted off a bone or two.
Extremely cleaver subtle foreshadowing in this movie too that wasn’t in your reaction. They brought up Jason's mom being the killer at times. At the 11:35 part you hear a play on the "ki ki ki ma ma ma" thing from the Friday the 13th movies which is a prank by the female friend right after first talking to a killer. This translates to, "Kill her mommy!" (pointing to Billy's mom) because in the first movie, Mrs. Voorhees lost her mind and her boy Jason is whispering that to her. Speaking of moms, hope y’all watch The Wild Robot. Replaced Inside Out 2 for best animated movie of the year for me.
3:39 - "Also, didn't she ask for a small Pepsi?" - In American, that IS a small Pepsi. Seriously though, that looks close to the size of a Burger King "small" soda. 19:22 - That's Tori Spelling. In the first movie, Sidney joked about being played by her if they made a movie about what happened.
Likely a "special" round. Usually a light load for low recoil and higher control. So yes, it's possible a round could bounce off a rib. My guess a .38 special.
SMG was pretty much filming this at the same time Buffy season 2 was filming. US Summer 1997. I Know What You Did Last Summer was filmed earlier the same year, starting at the end of March. SMG would've been a busy lady.
23:22 This man has no business actually walking _around._ Ghostface's weapon of choice is a _knife;_ something he has to get _close_ to use. So the safest place for Randy is in the middle of a wide-open _field_ that offers him a clear view for at least several yards in every _direct._
Apparently, the original killers were supposed to be Billy's mother and Sidney's roommate (a "Female duo" instead of the "male duo" from the original SCREAM), but unfortunately, the original script was leaked online, so the film student was put in the last minute (reason why he's barely in the actual movie).

8:28: I haven’t seen Ladybird yet, but she’s Jackie in Roseanne and the sequel series The Connors, was the voice of Andy’s mom in all 3 of the original Toy Story films, and Sheldon’s mom in The Big Bang Theory (and her daughter took over the role in Young Sheldon)
the name is Laurie Metcalf btw
She also performed one of the greatest monologues I've ever seen in "Horace & Pete"
38:48 that's actually how starts the 3rd movie, I hope you guys watch it soon
Fun stories ---Sarah Michelle Gellar (who has a black belt in Tae Kwan Do ) did a few takes and ran up the stairs being chased by the killer .The director Wes Craven took her aside and told her she was running not like a victim but someone who could take care of herself. A crew member came up behind her and grabbed her she decked him.
Did she learn martial arts before or after her character did in "Scooby Doo"?
Before. She wanted her fighting to look realistic, so she asked Scooby himself to teach her the craft. All it cost her was a few Scooby Snacks from what I hear.
Before @@joelwillems4081
@@joelwillems4081obviously before that since she was in buffy
The studio reshot the film class scene to give her more screen time. You can find the original on TH-cam. Definite differences.
Heather Graham played Casey in "Stab" parodying the Casey (Drew Barrymore) part in Scream.
Man I hope you guys keep watching the Scream series it's so good very looking forward for your reactions.
And Halloween took it from Psycho.
Every movie fan saw the opening and thought: "looks like he's a hero in this movie."
Sarah Michelle Gellar was on a break from Buffy when she made this The friend on the phone --s Selma Blair (Sarah kissed her in Cruel Intentions)
Omg I forgot about it being Selma Blair on the phone!! Thank you for reminding me
I cannot be the only one that thinks Scream 2 is the best one-
It has arguably the franchise's scariest opening (getting stabbed to death in public and feeling mocked when you cry for help by dozens of people dressed as your killer as your last agonizing moments on Earth is just evil, even if it is Jada Pinkett Smith)
Every scene with Randy in this is ICONIC.
It introduced Dewey's theme.
It's got an amazing cast of characters that rivals and compliments the excellence of the original's.
The improv in this movie was insane.
The script has no business being this good for how much of it was rewritten and shot day of.
Derek is probably the franchise's most underrated character and he's never gotten his flowers (Sidney was never as happy again as she was that day in the cafeteria, at least on screen in the movies)
Gale has the best chase scene in the entire franchise and her character arc in this is chef's kiss.
Dewey's fake-out death gets literally everyone the first time.
The acting in this is dumb good (but also the acting is good in all of them)
It's a really cool snapshot of a very interesting and controversial time in America (the OJ Simpson trial was huge)
It has arguably the best ending (Scream 3's ending is up there)
Wes Craven directed the shit out of this movie, easily his best work!
Scream is 10/10. Scream 2 is 12/10, it is that sequel that surpasses the original in my useless opinion.
Absolutely! ❤
my favorite easter egg in Scream 3 is that Sydney is still wearing Derek's necklace. I always thought that was pretty sweet.
Love to see people experiencing Dewey’s theme, repurposed from the film Broken Arrow, for the first time. Totally unaware of the effect it’s going to have on them over four more films.
My favorite will always be see spot run
7:17 Fairly sure he is mimicking Robert Downey Jr's Australian accent in Natural Born Killers.
I... I think I might be nobody.
What kind of person DOESN’T like Granny Smith apples plain? Delicious.
It is an excellent cooking apple.
@@GeorgeEugeneBarrett Exactly! They are my favorite.
i agree, i also like to cut up some gala apples and mix them up while eating
You can get a bad one.
They are the only apples I eat.
Every scream movie hits!
3 was a bit weak, but it does kinda hit.
This was released when Buffy was in the middle of Season 2.
Good to know.
I mean, we all do it: criticize characters for doing something stupid in horror movies, regardless of whatever trauma or shock or concussion they're dealing with, even though we - the ones criticizing - would be dead in Act 1 because of a dumb decision!
Yeah. It's easy to have all of the right answers sitting comfortably at home with nothing at stake.
Instant red flag for horror reactors lol
"We" my ass. Y'all maybe. First thing I did when moving to America was acquire a decent amount of guns and get my permit. Fuck that noise >_> Ghostface getting shot directly in the dick.
The Road Warrior is another superior sequel.
that woman IS the mom in Lady Bird. Laurie Metcalf, quite possibly the funniest actress that has ever been on TV. 4 time emmy winner.
She’s fantastic in Uncle Buck.
I think it’s a pretty amazing sequel. Definitely the best Scream sequel.
Idk if they’re FOR cooking. But Granny Smiths are good. If you like tart and sour which I do.
They are a very popular cooking apple.
@ this is true. Just not EXCLUSIVELY a cooking apple.
Granny Smith a cooking apple. Weird.
Now a Bramley apple is a cooking apple.
When SMG said "Ted?" I know Simone was thinking "Killer robot?".
Jerry O’Connell is playing Sydney’s boyfriend, Vern from Stand by Me.
I totally don't know him only from Kangaroo Jack and Georgie off of Big Bang Theory. That would be _pathetic_ ..... pfft...... aaanyway.
SPOILERS FOR THE COMMENTERS
If I'm not mistaken, Sydney's friend Hallie was the person who was originally collaborating with Billy's mother.
I’ve heard there were supposed to be 3 killers this time and the other 2 were supposed to be Hallie AND Derek and the 2 were lovers behind Sydney’s back
Also, Cotton and Sidney end up fighting in the end and killing eachother originally.
@Joker_JAK WHAT? I never read that before!
@shadowdramon01 Maybe, hadn't read that. Honestly, who can say for sure except Kevin Williamson and the actors.
@@CineRamI've read the original script. That's the way it was.
Everything you need to know about the backstory to explain who the killer ultimately is gets laid out in the single clip from "Stab" that Dewey and Randy watch in the coffee shop.
3:38 The Canadian mind cannot comprehend our portion sizes
Yeah, us Americans are like big dumplings.
Bull-fucking-shit. That one with the D-list actor as the cop and his kids was pretty damn bad not just for a Scream movie, but for a movie in general.
Never Campbell is a G.
You should watch Wild Things. Neve Campbell, Kevin Bacon, Denise Richards, and Matt Dillion.
Their reaction to that would be fun to watch.
10:40 - When I rewatched these for my channel about two years ago, I recognized the background music from somewhere.....Broken Arrow! It was from the film Broken Arrow!
I checked out your channel just now and subscribed. Your channel looks very interesting. Will spend the next few days watching the videos.
It works better there because of the western twang feel to it and the setting for "Broken Arrow". Dewey doesn't have a swaggering cowboy feel to him.
“Yeah… he’s gonna.. cause he wasn’t on the poster!” 😂 😱
She's the wife from Desperate Housewives. 'I think the words you are thinking are, thank you'.
Thank you, came to say the same thing.
She was a shooter in Desperate housewives too!
Cotton Weary is one of the best names.
I, too, feel weary when i wear cotton😂
the surprise
2nd killer
was foreshadowed in
SCREAM 2
multiple times
Laurie Metcalf's "crazy eyes" haunt my dreams.
Sheldons mother. No wonder she is nuts.
11:34 - Sarah Michelle Gellar being in a scary movie like this is top tier satire.
To me the public serenade in the cafeteria is the scariest part.
I always skip it, soo cringe!!
@@moviesbye9294Lol it was the 90s
Vern from Stand by Me!
I think ironic that cotton is was arrested for killing Sidney mom and then killing the mother of the person who framed him
In self-defense, ofc.
7:30 - The new boyfriend, Jerry O'Connell - Recognize him from the movie "Stand By Me" 1986? Vern!
The characters doing stupid stuff is the point lol Wes is good like that, always making fun, to the point the audience can forget he’s doing it 😆
Wish Kevin Williamson can get some credit. Williamson wrote the screenplays, Wes wasn't even involved in the process of writing the first one.
This was in-between the filming of BtVS S1 & S2, which I find highly amusing because the original idea behind the show was to circumvent the idea of the characters she played here and in _I Know What You Did Last Summer._
Lol they DO use SO MUCH toothpaste in commercials. A full brush with an artistic curl😂
This is one of the few slasher franchises that, while having it's low points, is pretty consistent on the quality.
Actually Buffy was already filming, she managed a day off to shoot her scenes in the movie, that's why is so quick. 😢
Cotton's actor is Liev Schreiber. He was Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Also had an incredible show called Ray Donovan.
That one guy was in Sliders and Kangaroo Jack.
This movie was filmed at UCLA
I was attending UCLA and watched them film this. It was the summer of 1997 and some great movies came out that summer... men in black, contact
I attended the red carpet showing of Contact at the old Fox theater in West Wood that summer. The best summer... rollerblades and ska playing on the portable cd player.
Godzilla was '98.
Though, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" did come out that year.
@@Micah_4D I think i remember the comercials that summer or the posters they had all over the place....
8:17 Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne, The Big Bang Theory, Ladybird, The Connors)
In film, Metcalf is best known for her performance as Marion McPherson in Greta Gerwig's comedy-drama film Lady Bird (2017). She was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a SAG Award, and a BAFTA Award. From 1995, she has voiced Mrs. Davis, the mother of Andy, in the Toy Story franchise, and voiced Sarah Hawkins in the Disney animated Treasure Planet (2002). Other film credits include Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), Uncle Buck (1989), JFK (1991), Dear God (1996), Georgia Rule (2007) and Scream 2 (1997).
She gained national attention for her performance as Jackie Harris on the sitcom Roseanne (1988-1997, 2018), for which she won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and its spinoff The Conners (2018-present). She also won a Primetime Emmy Award for her guest role in Hacks (2022), and her other Emmy-nominated roles include 3rd Rock from the Sun (1999), Monk (2006), Desperate Housewives (2007), The Big Bang Theory (2016), Getting On (2013-2015), and Horace and Pete (2016).[2] She also appeared on The Norm Show (1999-2001), Frasier, and The Dropout (2022).g
Scream 3 was going to have stu return (you see him in 2 for a hot second) but columbine happened and they changed the whole movie because of it.
I think in 4 you hear drew Barrymore give the announcements over the pa for school
Sidney Prescott has the mental constitution of an ancient battle hardened warrior to not have been driven into an asylum by the second movie
You are so right.
My favorite thing about all the Scream movies is how they are mysteries as much as horror.
When it comes to toothpaste, dish and laundry detergent, it is *much* better to use too much than too little. Same with the amount of water, time, scrubbing, heat (material specific for shrinkage of course).
The first one will always be the best. I remember not caring for the Mrs. Lumis reveal because it was way out of nowhere. The first one had me guessing up until the reveal. The 4th one is pretty good with the reveal. I remember being pretty shocked
I 100% believe Will Smith watches the opening to this movie on loop sometimes.
I don’t think she was acting either. She was being herself. 😂
Chris Rock too, probably.
Or Chris Rock 😂
3:27 The most unrealistic thing in this movie is that that's supposed to be a SMALL Diet Pepsi in her hand.
It's an AMERICAN small.
That looks small compared to cup sizes I've seen in theaters lol
The fact that the actress playing Sidney in the movie movie, is also in scary movie 2 is kinda cool
Cant wait for scream 3
3:39 - "Also, didn't she ask for a small Pepsi?" - In American, that IS a small Pepsi. Seriously though, that looks close to the size of a Burger King "small" soda.
19:22 - That's Tori Spelling. In the first movie, Sidney joked about being played by her if they made a movie about what happened.
Cool reaction as always Simone & George, you both take care and have a nice day
Billy's mother/Mrs. Loomis (Laurie Metcalf), played Sheldon Cooper's mother in The Big Bang Theory.
Yes george. In 'Murcia, our small sodas are large, our mediums are extra large and our large is diaaabetes!
Our child’s size soda is roughly the size of an average child, if the child were liquified.
Just a small thing, SMG was Buffy before this released by about 9 months (March vs. December of 1997)
Now I'm waiting for the intro where Simone says "Hey everybody!...No, I mean it...Hey everybody!"
Gayheart went on to Urban Legends after the sorority party.
Apparently, the original killers were supposed to be Billy's mother and Sidney's roommate (a "Female duo" instead of the "male duo" from the original SCREAM), but unfortunately, the original script was leaked online, so the film student was put in the last minute (reason why he's barely in the actual movie).
One of the best horror sequels of all time
30:43 lmao Simone’s guess is a perfect example of the “bobo doll” experiment (Bandura) where they realized boys only copy violence observed, but girls were innovative and created new behaviors/took it to the next level #SurvivalSkills
Umm Buffy TV came out several months prior to Scream 2. Same year though
Today's random Simone comment was the most relatable thing ever
