    Ugh thank you sooo much! I have been wondering what I’ve been doing wrong to get those cracks. I thought it was the amount of paint or uneven flow. But temperature totally makes sense. Thank you so much!

  • @Kathy-Carr
    @Kathy-Carr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thank you for the tip! I did not know about the extreme temperatures and how it relates to cracking, so thank you again. He’s turned out beautiful! I think number two is my fave...💚

    So beautiful! Thank you for documenting the cracking fiasco as well, such good knowledge to pass on and be aware of! (I often work in a hot room and I've notice it definitely affects drying times just while doing the pour!)
    As unfortunate as the cracking was, I have to say, one of them was rather beautiful in itself, almost looked like it was part of the overall effect... makes one wonder if crackle paste could be utilized in paint pouring somehow, to get controlled cracks that flow with the paint...

    • @jro9365
      @jro9365 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That and its never good to leave that much paint on your canvas or it will crack no matter what the temps are ... there was still A LOT of paint left on at least 2 of the canvases. I won't even use my paints unless they are at normal room temps ...too cold or too hot can both really mess with your paints . They were pretty colors together though. 1😥😥😥

    • @jenniferwillis5889
      @jenniferwillis5889 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think because the paint was just too thick it cracked. My niece does pour paintings and does not really run onto the cracking. She let's it run and she uses an agent mixed in her pour that helps keep it a bit thinner so it stops the cracks. I also never saw the dryer process but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that technique! It turned out so beautiful especially the last one was my favorite!! Thank you for your time ♥️

    Candice, what you've done with these paintings.... it's my life. Why do I do what I do when I know what the result will be like. And how I will feel disappointed when the next day comes and I wake up to my failure. But thank God Almighty for his grace, mercy and forgiveness poured over top of my repentance.
    And still He's makes something beautiful of my life. 😭😢😑
    Thank you, and there's such beauty in these paintings for me today. God Bless you Candice.

    There is a Japanese technique with pottery where are you glue it back together and paint over it with gold. I wonder what it would be like to paint over those cracks with gold leaf or a highly reflective gold paint. But it is really good to know that leaving your paintings and a warm or cold garage to dry will make some crack because I didn’t know that end it has saved me from having that happen, unless of course it’s something I intend to add to a painting :-) thanks for sharing. In spite of the cracks really pretty pours however

    My heart breaks for you. Those were beautiful pieces, but I know you're very talented and you can paint them again. Thank you for willing to show us the mistakes that can happen. Every artist talks about cracks and crazing and now I really know what they've all been talking about, unfortunately.

    Never seen anyone else do a cushion like yours, it is a wonderful idea for negative space.
    I personally love how the cracking looked, I know cracking is bad but it really is pretty and adds character.
    I wonder if the medium that causes cracking would work to make the rest of the paintings look intentionally cracked.

    I know you said the cracks weren’t meant to happen but I’d call that a happy accident. I think think it looks kind of cool and would look even better with a couple of layers of resin over the whole thing to smooth over and varnish everything.

  • @donnastallings725

  • @lilsaprice5241
    @lilsaprice5241 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thank you for the tip.. I had cracking and now I do why. Is the cracking in warm temps more prevalent because of thinner paint where a thicker pour would do better in higher temps?

    • @CandiceColorArt
      @CandiceColorArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No it just the opposite. Extreme heat is a problem regardless of the paint density but if the paint is too thick it will often crack just for that reason alone (in my experience).

    When doing pouring do you mix the paint with anything so the colors don’t like Mix and turn brown ?? I’ve heard you can use elmers glue to Mix it I’m new and love your channel and really trying to learn! Any tips please anybody???!

    • @bdub7363
      @bdub7363 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using Elmer's glue then make sure its Elmer's Glue All and not the school glue kind. If you are getting a muddy look after doing a pour then its likely because your paint is too thin.
