Today we continue looking at an amazing collection of world banknotes. I estimate the retail value of this entire collection to be somewhere around $75,000 or more. This collector has hundreds of Romanian banknotes in exceptional graded from both PMG and PCGS. Almost all of these notes are graded either uncirculated (UNC) or about uncirculated (AU) which is truly astonishing since many of these notes are more than 100 years old. Since this is a huge collection of paper money, this series was divided into four parts so make sure to watch all four!
In Part 4 of this special series we look through Romania’s modern era banknotes in the new millennium (2000-Present), including Europe’s first polymer (plastic) banknote. Plastic banknotes were introduced because of their durability and there more advanced anti-counterfeiting features. This part of the collection includes Romanian polymer hyperinflation notes including the commemorative full solar-eclipse 2000 lei note. We finish out with the current series of “lei grei” (heavy lei) which are still in circulation in Romania. Romania is one of only a few European Union member states that did not adopt the Euro after joining the EU.

U know a lot about Romanian paper money. Why such a passion for that country? I have a friend who has been a missionary in Romania for about 15 years. She works with kids in orphanages.

the 2nd 500.000 lei it was cut from an uncuted sheet of 4 banknotes. 500 prefix is generic for commemorative block of 4 uncut sheet of banknotes. the first one is normal circulation note, with prefix 04 which mean the printed year of this note is 2004. the uncut sheet of 4 notes of 500k lei is evaluate as today at about 700 dollars. who cut that note is now regret that decision. Also, im surpised PMG didnt know about that.... Also 1 million note is the world largest denomination banknote on a polymer substrate and the only one note that has an replacement Z in romanian currency. Also, PMG didnt know about that as well, but if you check collnect you will find out that Z is actually an replacement note. Thats why is have an unlisted Pick number, because is replacement.
