    Hey thanks Frozen! I absolutely LOVED your AT thru hike. Your thru hike greatly influenced me and was one of a few videos that helped me make the decision to do the AT. I've been looking for ideas on how to vlog my thru hike. (I have a 13 year old dog, who is my best friend, and has some health issues which unfortunately are slowing him down and causing his health to decline. I'm cherishing the time I have with him as much as I can until he decides it's time to go.) After that happens I'll start my hike the following February!! Awesome video Frozen!!!!!!

    Nice Sony video camera! On my SHT hike last year I didn't have to recharge my NU25 headlamp even once for my 12 nights on the trail. It's a great headlamp! Someday I'll get you up here to do the Pictured Rocks Thru-Hike. It is only 42.4 miles! lol " Have a Happy Thanksgiving! "

    Great video as always Frozen. Thanks for the idea on the gallon zip lock bag with the desicate packets. I’ve got a sony a6500 with in camera stabilization but it’s nothing compared to a gimbel or gopro.
    Thanks for making great content as always.

    I have that same ultrapod. It's great! Using the velcro that came with it helps sometimes too, can attach it to things like tree branches.
    Nice to see that Katahdin sign that Between The Blazes makes too!

    You need to get the diety d4 duo mic. it lets' you record split-track mono. So the front-facing mic records left and the rear part of the mic records right. It's excellent for doing live VO and leaving your set up as is. Also, those ultrapod 2 the larger of those tripods for cameras must be discontinued I've been looking for one of them for a while.

  • @twcamping
    @twcamping 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    DJI Pocket 2 or 1 is a good option. Many Japanese hikers use that as the setup is super light. GoPro 9 is a good option but nothing compares to mechanical stabilization. Both you can charge and record at the same time. Cell phone is OK but mainly use for Photo, holding the cell phone is not as comfortable as the latter. PGYTech Tripod is pretty awesome and light. As for microphone, just get a lav.

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never had luck with gopro's I refuse to give that awful company anymore of my money. They work fine for a few months then have power issues. The pixel line is actually still pretty powerful for video. And mines a fee years old at this point. As far as a lav. Can't imagine be wired to my camera and backpacking the way I do.

      The thing with dji pocket is that it offer motion time lapse, you can't do any of that with you equipment for a motion night sky.

    All the giant pro vlogging big gear makes me scared of vlogging. I thought by 2020 we'd all have top quality video and editing with just our phones and some apps. I think I'll just get a good insta or go pro and call it. My 0 followers probably won't complain when I finally upload a video.

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm looking to downsize. I got to the point where it's just annoying carrying the gear and keeping everything charged. GoPro sucks btw even though I have one now, they always freeze up but can't beat the compact size right now.

    • @mobydickhead1

      @@FrozensAdventures I have little experience with camera gear. I'm only a few years away from freedom (early retirement )where I'll be on long backpacking trips and traveling lifestyle, but I do want to make videos and practice being comfortable with filming. I suppose I'm just intimidated with all the equipment. I like the idea of the insta 360 .
