    Hi Frozen! Could you give any insight into the travel insurance you picked up? What company you used? I was considering it myself and would love some info to help me make a decision. Specifics on what you are covering?

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Sure it's travelex insurance. Below is a copy paste of what I'm covered for:
      Trip Cancellation 100% of Insured Trip Cost
      Trip Interruption 150% of Insured Trip Cost
      Trip Delay $750 ($250/day)
      Equipment Delay $200
      Missed Connection $750
      Baggage & Personal Effects $1,000
      Baggage Delay $200
      Emergency Medical & Dental Expense $50,000 ($500 dental sublimit)
      Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation $500,000
      24 Hour AD&D $25,000
      The cost on this was $46 and coverage started Feb 1 and will end July 31. It's really silly not to go with something like this in the end I'm glad I called. The only thing they said that wouldn't be covered is in the dental category they used the example if I had a crown and it came out I would have to pay out of pocket for that. Give them a call and tell the what you are doing.

    Great info thanks for sharing! I bought the complete map set for the AT on Guthooks a few years back. As a section hiker, one big plus for me is the maps get updated from time to time. So in theory, while it may take me another 5 years or so to finish the AT via section hiking, Guthooks will update year to year so I don't have to worry about that. If you buy AWOL electronically, does it do the same thing or do you have to repurchase each year?

    Hey Jason. The stickpic, don't need it. Wrap that Ultrapod around your trekking pole handle and it does the same thing. Then you can leave your phone cradle on the Ultrapod all the time. One less thing to deal with. You can shove your pole in the ground and you have a nice freestanding monopod. It works great except when windy. (I stopped using my stickpic 2 years ago and never miss it)
    Have a blast out there! Really looking forward to your trip.

    Hey Jason. I really have enjoyed your channel. I have learned a lot. I am preparing for a tru hike of the SHT this summer. I have followed your lead on most of the electronics from this video and ordered most of the items. But I am not sure if I need the 20000 power pack. Plus Amazon just pulled it from their store stating some issues. I was considering buying the 10000 model like you have. I use a Samsung Note 9. It looks like it would give me 2-2.5 charges. Any thoughts?

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My friend Gary used a 13000 mAh battery on the SHT and he ran out on day 12. There are places to charge your battery in town. I'd go with a bank that supports power delivery. They charge very fast.

    I can’t get a link to it for some reason but I bought several “octopus” USB charge cables from Amazon that can charge several different connector types. It had 2 USB-C connectors so I ASSUME it can charge to and from USB-C at the same time.

      @@FrozensAdventures I hear ya, and you're probably right. But I've heard that exact same thing from dozens of hikers that I've had to go find in the past 10 years. They buy traveler's insurance, carry a few backups and luxury items, cameras, batteries...but they're not willing to stuff a 1oz compass and a piece of paper in the bottom of their backpack. Probably my concern is less about you and more about the people influenced by your gear choices....like me :-)

    good choice on battery but I found my QC3.0 20000 version of that battery to exceed your formula and get 16500 using a UM24C meter. Either way, remember to charge your phone with it off to get maximum battery to phone transfer.

    • @FrozensAdventures

      You either divide by 6 or 5. That's the formula that Anker gave me via support email.

  • @justanotherdude2653

    You're going to be limited on re-charging unless you plan to spend the night in town when you re-supply (don't now how long it takes to fully re-charge your brick). Using wireless headphones will drain your phone battery much faster by using the bluetooth antenna when listening to your books. Wired won't do that even though you don't like wires.

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's about 2% drain an hour with Bluetooth 4.1. so not worried about that. As I said in the video the battery takes 3.5 hours to fully charge.
