While it's quite a lot Ffarquhar focused, it's still a really great batch! My favorites had to be 10:10 at Killdane and Tetsundo No Anke. Really had a lot of fun voicing Diesel 10 in the former (the demonic side of him).
So many interesting ones this year that it's hard to pick. Probably a three way between Fiddle Yard Fright, Run Cold, and Frozen In Fear, if I had to pick some. Fiddle Yard feels like a Black Mirror sort of concept, and Frozen feels like a natural progression of the engines being alive and thinking. Run Cold, I like how it expanded an honestly meh story into something really freaky. Can't say I remember body horror in a fan horror story *ever.*
Hunter’s Log 3-Final: Lots of messes to clean up, but the stories were quite enjoyable. You spirits are always quite entertaining. I don’t publish these, goodness no, that’s an invasion of privacy. Happy Halloween 22tesla! Tales from the scrap siding 3: 6 nights at the Ffarquhar Branch and other stories. This year's stories from 1st to last had quite a happy start and end indeed. :) I feel like with the intermission scenes of you, NWR58, Infinitybal and I forgot who else think this is how the thought process is like for Thomas TH-camrs when coming up with the scripts for episodes, specials and movies. 😂 When I saw the 2nd story I wish for next year's stories would have a BWBA styled story of Thomas in Mexico learning about the La Llarona since some of my family is Spanish. Mostly my dad, 2 grandmas, Auntie Nora and Darling and sometimes my mom. 😊
@@22TeslaI think Spanish folklore like the La Llarona would work for a BWBA story. I've seen some for Scotland like 2 I can remember for Donald and Douglas. 1 was 10 years ago on NWR1991's channel and 1 by Joey Turner on his Deviantart page. What did you use for the animations for the intermission scenes?
@@jeremiahsisaias8677 I figured, and maybe. I'll think about it. It's a tricky process. It's creating the vectors of the narrators, the blank comic pages, and making all the text in the speech bubbles separate from the speech bubble. Then it's a LOT of editing; timing the speech bubble to the dialog and exporting it as a separate video, editing the comic characters to remain in place long enough, exporting that, doing 2-3 more edits to make the page curl come in on the right side (via reversing the footage, exporting, re-reversing that footage, exporting it), then taking the finished video to a fourth project file to animate the pans from panel to panel before exporting the whole thing. And that's not including masking off the vectors if they are too tall/wide for the panel, as well as masking off the vector with the text crawl introduction to the stories which has to be timed to the dialog. And all of this was animated using Adobe Premier, using puppets/vectors created using my art program Serif DrawX4
@@22TeslaHave you ever watched Percy and the Haunted Mine It was where he encountered gnomes there Do you think you might use that as another horror story for the 4th season because I thought of that idea.
@@oliverhood1732 I have, and I have actually written an adaptation of it that's slightly better than the original. Might still end happily, but eh, we'll see
My god, these thomas stories are very entertaining and horrifying to listen to, i actually enjoy listening to Alot of them you made, they're very very interesting to listen too
TIMESTAMPS 4:53 Old Stomping Grounds 19:22 Tetsundo No Anke 41:04 Fiddleyard Fright 56:05 10-10 to Killdane (honestly my second favorite) 1:23:19 Run Cold (honestly I wanna see next years batch or submit one of my own just to see what can top this) 1:46:11 Frozen in Fear
Been a while due to irl issues, but I figured since I gave my thoughts on Year 2''s collection, I should do the same with year 3's collection of chilling tales. Be warned again, these will be LONG~ Old Stomping Ground - I like Toby's history in this context, and the fear of how his old home he'd loved being decayed and overgrown, and how that same fate could've befallen him is something worth exploring in a setting like this. I sense a bit of "Project Tiger Moth" inspiration, which I love. However, the, "it was just a dream" thing holds it back. It could've been better if Toby had stumbled across the old setting by accident, whilst it was more in disrepair, and sensed something lurking around, rather than it just being in his head. Tetsundo no Anke - I love-love-love~ this story! Easily my favorite. I adore the use of Hiro, as CGI characters are very niche in horror stories like this, but he's an ingenius linchpin given Japanese superstition when it comes to ghosts and other supernatural elements. And the twist ending was brilliant! Utterly fantastic! Fiddle Yard Fright - A fairly clever take on the irl model nature of the Thomas & Friends cast. And Daisy as the central character was a unique change of pace. Not a bad concept for a horror story like this. However, it feels a touch weak as it presents a recurring theme of this year's collection in the "it was just a dream" trope. 10:10 to Killdane - A very unique take on Diesel 10. It seems he's a hub for unique reinterpretations in horror. I love the idea of him being this legendary figure amongst diesels in any canon, and the way he's depicted as a lunatic is truly engaging, and I can't help but feel bad for Splodge. Run Cold - A really engaging take on the Jack Frost episode, not too dissimilar to the clever reinterpretation of "Scaredy Engines" from Year 2. As such, "Jack Frost" does act as a story rife with potential for horror material, yet I can't think of anything outside of this one. The history of Jack was tragic, but one tragically realistic. The twist that what James saw was not, in fact, Percy but actually Jack's spirit was somewhat a 50/50 of whether or not it'd actually be Percy or not, yet I feel that it was still executed well. The initial point on seeing Percy in frost, coupled with Thomas saying he just made the story up, before the reveal that James saw something else was solidly done. Frozen in Fear - Somewhat similar to "Smokeless Mainland" capping off last year's collection, this story was not quite scary as much as it was sad. This story earnestly feels like a more mature take on a traditional Thomas & Friends story, with the engines experiencing something they don't understand and Sir Topham Hatt coming in to be the voice of reason to explain it to them. So while, yes, this was another "it was just a dream" story, I still give it points for being a very frightening account that you can't help but feel sympathetic toward Thomas for, when dealing with a truly horrifying event for the very first time, hence why it's my second favorite from this year. Over all, while I do prefer Year 2 as a whole, this was still a very enjoyable collection of stories. As mentioned, Tetsundo no Anke and Frozen in Fear were my favorites, with Run Cold and 10:10 to Killdane as solid follow-ups, and whilst I wasn't crazy about Old Stomping Ground or Fiddle Yard Fright, they were still solid in their own rights. See you for Halloween 2024~
HEhehe thank you! I'm glad you loved this set of stories, and I loved to hear your thoughts on them. Would you believe that the "it was all just a dream" trope was not intended to be the theme and happened by accident. Hopefully this year's stories will be some bangers. Only time will tell.
