4:48 “the little balls on the shaft” 🤣🤣I’m probably going to hell. Like CNW. They used to go through the town my grandmother grew, dad and aunts and uncles grew up in!

My 40 year old Athearns run good enough for me. And they cost no more than $36.00

I have six of the older Life Like P2K GP38-2s and all are sweet runners and make excellent low speed switch engines. That perfect for my industrial switching layout.

Great if you happen to have such a well-stocked parts bin, but what if you haven't? Surely NWSL should be taken to task about their faulty parts?

The p2k open frame motor has more low end torque then the Athearn.Tuning the Athearn motor with spring adjustment to the brushes seems to help them get the slow speed torque ,but not as good as the p2k.Even the Newer 070 motors in the rtr Athearn are not as torquey as the p2k . I will sleeve the Athearn flywheels to make them fit the p2k motor shafts for the Athearn flywheels make it for a easy drop in re power.Never seen one of those go bad yet! Thanks for sharing..You have opinion?

Check it out when you get time you will be amazed in dc the slow speed operation .Funny thing ,second hand there cheep as a Athearn motor or less from misdiagnosis condemning the motor...

tsgmultimedia I have a bachmann santa fe f7a and when I got it the drive line on that was broken too. The part that was broken was the dogbone that goes from the motor the bogie. I fixed it temporarily with tape then I soon got a new it runs just fine now.

I have one of these locos and I don't think that the flywheel used here is the original one that came with that loco. My locos have flywheels twice the size of this. But cool video. I didn't know about the cracks and will have to watch out for it in future although fortunately it hasn't faced any problems yet and have been running smoothly even at low speeds.

Does the train number have anything to do with this, cause I have the model number 4607 Operation Lifesaver livery Athearn genesis GP 38-2 which I noticed just now that the model used here is a 4604.

Ok. I got it now. Actually it looked exactly like mine. I am new to this and I have so much more to learn.
      Thank you. :)
