If you didn't know who DSP actually is you might think from this description that he's doing parody. But that is actually how he thinks. The world passed him by and and he decided to do nothing, complain when old stuff doesn't work then make micro changes that ammount to tiny steps forward thinking thatwill suddenly put him on par with other people. Now his reputation in general, lack of any entertainment, refusal to edit. It all just weighs him down. if he was actually smart he'd be quietly trying to get a job..... but he won't consider that until the well is truly and entirely dry.

He'd quite literally need to become a different person and improve his channel on all fronts to start being noticed. As you said, no amount of quality can fix being boring, unlikable and a jerk to your audience. I think it's interesting to point out the segments where DSP is expressing the thoughts of people who observe his life. These people do not exist. It's a projection of Phil's ego. He's manifesting thoughts of non-existent people that make "observations" that only stroke his ego and push his victim mentality, and then uses that as validation for his behaviors. Phil has the potential to place Gold in mental gymnastics, but he'd find a way to fuck it up and place 4th.

Phil was only successful on old YT because the standards were so low. Also, he was only in the algorithm back then because, at that time, YT favored quantity over quality. Phil would split up his gameplay into tons of individual parts without any editing, so he got many times the views that other youtubers would. Also, Machinima carried him and his toxicity didn't affect him as much back then since he wasn't live.

The algorithm *will* display videos from over a decade ago if you actively interact with that content. I've been binging some old retsuprae (remember that channel anyone?) videos from the early days of Let's Play and I'll say their content is still very entertaining to this day. So TH-cam will recommend videos from that time, but you have to actively engage with it.

I agree with DSP, Turkey Tom was wrong. It wasn't 10 years of failure, it's more like 15 years and going.
It costs TH-cam money to host every TB of user data. Yes, they have millions of data servers, packed with SSDs etc but it's NOT infinite. It's limited by the totality of the space they have in their data centres and the bandwidth of their network equipment. TH-cam is a profit-making service. Like EVERY other for-profit, its job is to make money for its shareholders. In the example of TH-cam, it comes from ADVERTISERS paying to reach the audiences of various channels. Each channel is rated in all sorts of ways, to find out what possible advertisers would be suitable, and try to get the best price for TH-cam. Phil does SO MANY things that TH-cam just isn't interested in. His content merely takes up space on TH-cam's servers, getting the odd view here and there, as ALT goes on a field trip. If you're TH-cam, you'd want to use that server capacity, for more popular content, because that makes TH-cam more money.
It'd be hilarious if TH-cam started a new policy, whereby any video that gets under say 100 views in a week, after maybe 6 months, then it moves into a category where the TH-camr needs to pay per month, per GB to keep it hosted. Anything they don't pay for gets deleted; views and all.
Personally I never watch shorts. I'm not saying they're bad, I just enjoy full length videos.

You can literally use your TH-cam short to highlight the funny moments from a game. I've literally watched long form content because of the short showing a highlight of something. Pirate software literally does that and it gets people watching his streams

The reason that deleting videos gets you flagged is likely tied to reuploaders. To dodge being reported, reuploading channels would get millions of subs reposting peoples content, then upload a video for literally a day to farm views and ad revenue before deleting it.
Imagine Phil having an actual job where his supervisor tells him he’s going to be doing something different for an hour. Hey Phil, forget the carts in the lot and concentrate on collecting trash. He’d be calling corporate crying that the law has been violated.

It's bizarre how he can talk about this all the time, consider himself so smart, and yet never acknowledge that he has consistently failed to change and adapt to the circumstances of his industry.
Picture this - You own a sandwich shop, and make a standard peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and it's fine because you're the only sandwich shop in town. But then new sandwich shops open up with better bread, and a better menu. But instead of improving or expanding your own menu, you keep making peanut butter and jelly on slightly stale wonderbread. And maybe one day you finally add some new items, but your customer base has moved on to the sandwich shops with better sandwiches with staff that don't hock loogies behind the counter. And instead of improving your sandwich shop, you just start demanding your few regulars who want peanut butter and jelly pay the same price for a sandwich as a steak and lobster dinner because you have to pay the rent and taxes on your "business".

i hate when he brings up the algorithm stuff because youtube doesn't really push for drama shit, unlog from your account or open an anonymous tab and see what the main page shows, that's the type of shit they usually recommend you, usually it's some vlogs, kiddie videos, music, you know, standard stuff, matter of fact their main page recently changed and they don't even show ANYTHING before your search for something the first time, drama videos only really appear in your recommended often when you watch a lot of it, therefore he's just full of it

Speaking of how youtube shorts can get you to like a channel. I can confidently say my brother was brought into the "Three idiots' trio of channels through a youtube short. He saw they play alot of dragonball games, they were funny and having fun and so he went to their channel and checked them out. They are one of his favourite chanells now.
