Converting To Catholicism (Young Adults Pastor Becomes Catholic)

  • Converting to Catholicism, a young adult protestant pastor becomes Catholic. In today’s video I interview a friend of mine, a Catholic convert, who shares his journey about why he became Catholic.
I have a questions for you. How do you know if you are right? For smaller questions like which restaurant to go to it doesn’t matter. But For bigger questions regarding faith and moral, eternity may be at stake.
Questions like, how do you get to heaven? Or who goes to hell? Or does hell even exist are important questions. How do we know our opinion is right! Other big questions like when does life begin? What is the nature of marriage? How does God invite us to worship Him, or do we make it up as we go along? Or more fundamentally can we know the answers to these questions? In other words, where is truth found?
The Catholic Church claims not only to have the answers to these questions, but claims to be the fulfilment of Jesus’ words, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16:13). The claim of the Church is that Catholic truth, is Jesus' teachings handed down to the apostles and the successors, who are guided by the Holy Spirit to this present day to help us understand all that God has revealed for our salvation.
Where is all truth found? This pressing question lead Mike on his journey of converting to Catholicism. This is not something any young adult protestant pastor sets out to do! Not at all. He had theological training, a job lined up at a Church, and was about to start a family with a baby on the way. Converting to Catholicism was the last thing on Mike’s mine. A definite inconvenience. But what every Christian should desire is to do the will of Jesus in all things. It was this seeking that lead Mike to begin to consider Catholicism. Not because He want to be Catholic, but because he saw the Catholic Church making claims that no other denomination was making, such as it taught with the teaching authority of Jesus Christ and that it has the fullness of truth subsisting within it. It the teaching authority of the Catholic Church that appeared to solved this problem, “how do I know I am right”.

What stood out to me Ken was that Mike "asked, seeked, & knocked". and God opened the door for Mike & his family to come in. Also, that we cannot run from God, the Good Shepherd. He will find us & bring us back to His fold. This was a good video & I would enjoy more testimonies from time-to-time, but I still need your teaching videos Ken, because I learn SO much from you & Janelle. Praying that you're feeling better & stronger each day Ken. 🙏 Thanks for all you do for us. God bless & protect you and your family. 🙏✝️🙌

    I loved this style, Ken!
I became catholic 5 years ago after some divine moments in Assisi.
My husband a Jesuit educated catholic sponsored me.
He claims to have learned far more on the faith through my conversion.
We are just home from Fatima, Lourdes, Loyola and Avila.
Catholicism gives me a great peace.

here we go the truth coming up,actually turah&bible were from god but they had been corrupted afterwards as a result god sent down quran upon prophet muhammed&god said i`ll preserved the quran thereby god had fulfilled ,let me show u friendly&honestly the truth, okee dokee.sheding the light on christianity to know the truth first of all there is no original bible the 4 main bible are contradicted to each other yet there is 1 quran but who is the writer of bible the answer is paul the jewish who hates jesus let us discuss about the significant event which is crucifixion why does your claimed god left his only son to crucify without any sin he had committed the disaster reached its uttermost when u found bible said on the tongue of jesus my god my god why do u forsaken me means jesus never crucified willingly have u an idea why do they crucify jesus because it`s a penalty of impure &particularly crucifixion because dindn`t touched the earth make it impured that what paul said jeasus get impure for us &see the authentic god what does said in quran chapter 3 verse 55 by the name of god the most gracious&most merciful ,
O Jesus, I will take you and raise you up to me, and had purified you from those who disbelieve, and He will place those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection, then to Me is your return, so I will judge between you regarding that in which you differed, the authentic god rose jesus to the sky before they kill him in addition he had purified him from a false accusation that he is impure the quran verse is comply with the bible itself :So they lifted up stones to stone him. But Jesus did and went out of the temple, passing through them." ( John 8:59 ),let alone of many verses in the bible incites to violence thus u found the largest massacres had happened in history the ww1&2 christian countries against christian countries 100 millions had been killed not to mention the sex stories in the bible nay u never found a single sex word in quran, don`t take it in personal just i clarify u the plain truth, bible said woman when she during the menstruation she gets impure &any thing she would touched it will be impure &should stay at her room till had done of it don`t see that an insulting to woman &how does the claimed god in bible said so he demeans& underrates his own creatures, yet islam honored the woman &she has a complete chapter its name women show us her rights, let us look at modern medicine which refutes the bible, ovulalation happens every 28 days from overy next month from other ovary when fertilization fails to happen mestrual bleading happens it always stops when a female gets pregnant ,menstrual cycle ovulation the female genital system consists of one uterus to overuse vagine& externat genital organs ,,the blood during menstruation could cause diseases to spread and that’s why a woman during her menstruation needed to isolate so the blood would not be passed around to other people And diseases not be spread that`s what god said in quran and they ask you about menstruation say, isolate women don't come near them untill they get purified verse 222 chapter 2,why there are priests, pastors&nuns reverted daily to islam, yet u never a muslim clergy left islam as per western media said that islam is the fastest growing religion in the world,i didn`t like to push islam onto u god said no compulsion in religion verse 256 chapter 2,figure it out then make up your mind

It is frustrating how so much of tge world sees the Catholic Church as restrictive - the church of NO.
This man pointed out how the Church offers clarity of the word of Christ. He had questions, & the Catholic Church was the Church of YES.
    This was an important talk.
Yes, more like this ( though your previous talks are fantastic) is good.

I'm a cradle Catholic and went to Catholic school a long time ago and I have taken my Catholic faith for granted for too long not really realizing why I am Catholic and what do I believe and why do I believe it. When I listen to convert's stories it ignites a flame inside of me to sit down and read the Bible and Catechism more than I do so that maybe someday God can use me to help someone on their road to discover Jesus's Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. God bless everyone who has a part of your ministry Ken. You are all in my prayers.

I was raised cradle catholic and “left” the church from 16-28 or so. Never was confirmed and for those years I just wandered and wandered through so many different spiritual paths… all while slowly introducing catholic prayers back into my life just through always feeling comfort from them and the power of them. St Michael’s prayer was always ready to go and the Come Holy Spirit prayer truly changed my life and brought me back to the faith. The Holy Spirit woke up my heart and brought me back to the faith and I am so blessed! Now I am in RCIA and so excited to be confirmed at the Easter Vigil! 🔥 love this style of videos by the way. God bless!

As a catholic, sometimes I am templated with the question of, is what im saying right. But I always look to the saints and how confident they were in the church and her authority. Especially the eucharist. God only grants one church to actually do it. And if we were wrong, we wouldn't have it

I like this style of video. What jumped out at me is the reflex thought that Catholicism would provide the answer regarding Baptism. I think that young people are appreciating structure, authority and absolute truth like we haven’t seen in a very long time. I think they’ve grown tired of relativism and false truths built on emotion and fad. They are hungry for the real deal.

It's funny how God uses our children to bring us into the faith. My husband was a cradle Catholic; even though he wasn't practising at the time, & I had no faith. When we had our children he insisted we have them baptised. After making a long trip from BC to Sask to his parent's church, twice, I decided if it was that important we should be continuing going to Church. I then signed up for RCIA, and began to seek God earnestly. The rest is history....and we became very involved in our faith & the Church ever since. Thank you for sharing Mike's testimony, it brought back memories. Let the Little Children Come!

Having taught RCIA for a number of years, I always loved how someone coming into or, considering coming into the Church sees and absorbs more at times than us cradle Catholics. It is good for them to questions things, as more often than not we Catholics do things not fully understanding why, but simply because that's what we were taught to do. I learned so much about my own faith through the gift of RCIA candidate's questions about Catholicism. Definitely would love to see more of these types of videos and thank you!

Newt Gingrich converted as well. “Gradually I became Catholic and then decided one day to accept the faith I had already come to embrace". He decided to officially become a Catholic when he saw Pope Benedict XVI, during the Pope's visit to the United States in 2008: "Catching a glimpse of Pope Benedict that day, I was struck by the happiness and peacefulness he exuded. The joyful and radiating presence of the Holy Father was a moment of confirmation about the many things I had been thinking and experiencing for several years.”

I was born Catholic and I am fortunate to be part of this community of believers. Being Catholic I felt the real presence of Christ through the Eucharist during the Holy Mass. In addition to that, the Roman Catholic Church was established by Christ through Peter the apostle and St. Paul.
Roman Catholic’s is described in three words humility, charity and worship in Christ during the holy sacrifice of the mass which centered only to Christ’s ministry through liturgical readings from old to new testaments, Eucharistic celebration and the Declaration of His death and resurrection. Most words during the holy mass are scripture-based which represents the solemnity of the celebration.
I encourage you to attend a Tenebrae Service during Holy week which is the most darkness celebration of the Catholic Church in commemoration of Christ’s passion and death on the cross. Added, try to attend also the Traditional Latin Mass aside from the Novus ordo mass (modern mass). The Latin Mass is the most sacred and solemn mass in the Catholic tradition where Gregorian chants are sung and performed.
Welcome to the Catholic family brother. 🙏🏻

Say a rosary for her everyday, instead of arguing, and pray for this intention in the mass ...she is surely gonna convert within a couple of years

you could look for a priest on TH-cam who explains Catholicism perfectly, and who also explains it in a scolding way, I am from Mexico I can tell you that I used to be a stupid Catholic who did not respect his faith and what happened I met on TH-cam to a different priest, one who did not speak softly, who did not say only nice things, who did not let people fall asleep at mass, a priest who spoke out and clearly, a priest who explains the first, second reading and the gospel well in a clear and direct way, a priest who scolds, so that the dazed and sleeping Catholics wake up.
What this priest does is read the readings, gospels, life of Jesus and his apostles, as well as many prophets and how they faced many evil people, as well as the devil and comparing their situations with current life situations , showing that everything remains the same and that we all surely commit sins on a daily basis. I think that could be useful, meeting a priest on TH-cam who scolds and not only teaches people to be good, but to know their faith well, love God above all things and fulfill their obligations as a Catholic, that guy as a priest he is the one who helped me realize that I was failing a lot as a Catholic, I hope that your girlfriend can realize that the true religion is Catholic. Never leave this faith, because when you know it more thoroughly you realize what it really is and what it is worth, the Protestants may have their foundations, but there will always come that time when they will no longer have certain answers and instead the church catholic yes, just look at who and when the catholic church was founded and who and when he founded some protestant sect and there you will realize which was first and therefore which is the original.

What stuck out for me about Mike are his humility and willingness to listen to explanations that his Catholic friends provided. He weighed the pros and cons of his church but wanted what the Catholic Church offered. He allowed the Holy Spirit to work in him.
Yes, I do like listening to personal testimonies but I still want to hear your jewels of wisdom. Keep up your work and thanks for inserting something extra with personal stories. God bless you!

I enjoyed the interview with your friend Mike, and I would like to see other interviews occasionally. But I really enjoy seeing you and Janelle (and occasionally your children) every Wednesday. I too am a convert to Catholicism. I converted 20 years ago at the age of 58. I just wasn't getting all I thought I should out of my protestant church. I started attending Catholic mass, and after about 6 months, I started attending RCIA and a year later was confirmed Catholic. I truly believe that the Catholic Church is the only true church. I could not be happier! I have read so much about Jesus and Our Lady, and the saints, and Catholicism in general. I am just sorry that I didn't convert long ago, when I was a young woman.
Ken, I hope you are now fully recovered from your illness, and I pray for you and your lovely family every day. I look forward to your Wednesday emails.

      Hi Ken and Janel,
I love your sharing as a couple and a family! Marriage and family is under such intense attack that it is so refreshing to see a beautiful, happily married couple who love Jesus and each other.
What stood out in your interview was the courage to persue the truth and how it makes a difference. Interviews are interesting, too, but please continue your witness. God bless you.

Acts 2:46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity.( The apostles were the pioneering Catholics who did the command of Jesus in John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.")

Yes!! Do more videos!! I appreciated this video. It’s so affirming to our faith to hear them. Thank you. I love conversion stories fir that reason.
I think discussions about social and cultural issues, beliefs and events would be good.
We just lost the “Value Them Both” election on abortion in Kansas and it truly broke my heart!! I think hearing stories on this issue from those who have had one or considered having one & opted not to would enlighten us and maybe be helpful to us in addressing and talking about this issue and other Catholic/Christian beliefs with people we might encounter who ask about our beautiful faith. I enjoy you and Janelle so much!!!

Awesome testimony! The sacraments are so powerful, that they can confer graces upon parents planning sacraments for their children. For Mike, it was talking about baptism for their child. For me and many other parents, conversions are happening when their children prepare for confession and communion! How great is our God!
