When this first came out, I had spent a year and a half in Argentina and I returned to the US in September, 1983. I went right after that to college and I was in the local mall and I noticed at the attached cinema that Return was playing so of course I went. The change in culture from South America to the US and the fact it was Star Wars just made it seem that much more spectacular and it was one of the best memories of my life. I envy anyone who gets to watch it for the first time. There's nothing like it :)
I like that when you have genuine questions you look the, up immediately. Most just ask for comments (which, yeah, is a way to get more comments and boost the algorithm, or some don’t want to interrupt the reaction) but it’s a really nice change of pace from most. When almost ever time a question is asked I’m like “takes like 20 seconds on google!”. Anyway, earned a sub! Look forward to more in the future! ❤️

He was also in Labyrinth and played the title character in several of the Leprechaun horror movies.
You got emotional because at its core, it’s a great story with great characters and a huge heart. Great reactions! Now you have to see the prequels! You’ll love those too!
1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue. 2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it through Luke. Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis's/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. "Willow" is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share. 7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. Carrie Fisher said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy. 10. Ford wanted Han to die in the last episode. 11. IMVHO this is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After the first six he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly
"il ritorno dello Jedi" è riferito ad Anakin che da Signore dei Sith muore da Jedi uccidendo Palpatine (Sidius) e morendo lui stesso, riportando l'iquilibrio nella galassia.
5. And that was not how it was originally scripted. On paper Han says "I love you too" but Ford and Kasdan didn't think it was working on the day, and they changed it to "I know" as a more Han-esque thing to say back. One could argue part of that was a character choice about Han putting any doubt to rest for Leia and reassuring her that he did know, given their previous will-they-won't-they back and forth, but according to Ford it was mostly about Han being more of swaggery a dirtbag.
Darth Vader needed the suit to live (you will understand it more with the prequels), and without the suit only his rage and anger could keep him alive. When he came back to the light, with the suit circuits broken by dark force lightnings, there wasn´t chance to survive.
Also he knew there was no life left for him among the rebellion and the new republic, lest any survival chamber like the ones he had on imperial cruisers.
That chorus part in the music when the lightsaber fight escalates is not that popular, but IMHO a key moment in the soundtrack. Kudos to John Williams for even making the incidental music parts so beautiful.
I was 13 years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie theatre then I was 16 years old in 1980 when I saw Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. I was 19 years old in 1983 when I saw Episode VI Return of the Jedi in the Movie Theatre. The Audience in the Movie Theatre was shocked and gasped when it was revealed Princess Leia was Luke's Twin Sister. Anakin Skywalker was the Jedi who returned. Luke hinted at it when he told the emperor I am a Jedi just like my Father before me. The Audience cheered when Darth Vader turned on the Emperor and picked him up and tossed him down the shaft. In the original Darth Vader did not yell no. He just kept looking back and forth silently until he picked up the Emperor Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader when he had turned to the Dark side and became Anakin Skywalker when he returned to the Light side. Luke had told his father he wanted to save him but Anakin said you already have Luke. The original Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker was the older version of him. After the Sequels they ued the Younger Actor as Anakin's Force Ghost.
On to the prequels! You're gonna absolutely die and cry when you watch Anakin become Vader. Soul crushing greek tragic, Shakespearean drama. Wow, I can't wait for your reaction. It's hard for anyone with a heart to handle!
Abby since it seems your sort of new at reacting if I might offer some suggestions, there are two ways that I think your presentation might be better, either have the movie full screen and place yourself in a small square in maybe in one of the corners or have yourself full screen and have the movie in a horizontal block this way your audience still gets to see what is going on in the movie as you talk and their view is not obstructed and we can see what you are reacting to, once again I'd like to suggest maybe give Addie Counts a watch and see how she presents her reaction. Lastly you are absolutely stunning:)
Abby there is a paragraph you can put at the beginning of each video called the free use act, let me know if you need me to type what it says, i see that other reactors show it at the beginning of their videos and they can play the music in the movie and whatever else because that paragraph protects them from being copyrighted strucken? let me know if you need me to type what to type
I was 12 when this came out, I don’t think I’ve ever anticipated a movie this much since and it did not disappoint. Was a special time to grow up with movies like this, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Top Gun, etc.
Hi Abby glad you liked the film but for me Empire Strikes Back is still the best one ever made, as for the prequels you will enjoy seeing how Anakin becomes Darth Vader it will make you both sad and mad at the same time, Anyway would like to add some more horror reactionS to the ones I suggested last time, Dog Soldiers 2002, The Descent 2005, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974, The Whicker Man 1973, Halloween 1978, Carrie 1976, The Hills Have Eyes 1977. And just a few Sci-Fi and fantasy films, The Dark Crystal 1982, Time Bandits 1981, Logun's Run 1976, Krull 1983, Predator 1987, Big Trouble in Little China 1986.
For me, Rogue One is the best of the lot, but everybody has their own favourite film. In 4, 5 & 6, Han Solo starts out as a sexist, sleazebag mercenary but evolves as the films progress. The success and popularity of the Ewoks in 6 became a bit of a curse as after that it became essential to have something cute and lovable included and it never really worked. 7, 8 & 9 are a lot better than many are willing to admit, but as you already know, people turn into Gollums when discussing their 'precious' favourite films. When offering opinions you are never going to please everybody, so take the rough with the smooth and continue to say what you think.
7:47 I grew up with this being my first in theaters. This Jabba palace song is the 1997 version. The original version didn’t have the cgi. The song was completely different. The female trio didn’t exist. The original is on TH-cam. Also, the final chant in the end of the movie was different. Please check out Jedi original ending to see what Anakin’s ghost looks like in the original. I think the actor plays it much more realistically. He nods warmly to his friend, Ben, then looks proudly at Luke. Before you get into the prequels, here’s a review of the backstory given in this original trilogy. Yoda, master Jedi, teaches a hotheaded, headstrong Obi Wan in the ways of the Force. General Kenobi has fought in the Clone Wars, serving someone named Organa, who would eventually have Leia as his daughter. General Obi Wan Kenobi had encouraged Anakin to go off with him on a quest, against his brother’s wishes. Around this time, someone comes to power and becomes Emperor, turning the Republic into a tyrannical empire. The entire structure of the Republic becomes transformed or destroyed, except for the Galactic Senate. The Jedi religion becomes a whisper. Darth Vader hunts down and exterminates all the Jedi. He seduces Anakin into becoming Darth Vader with the feeling of power and anger. Darth becomes more machine than man, twisted and evil. Obi Wan goes into hiding.
Why don't you go ahead and tell Abby all the details of the prequels and spoil everything for her. I wish people wouldn't spoil stuff, let her discover all this for herself. If you are a Star Wars fan would you like it if someone told you the details of upcoming episodes?
@@michealdixon7110This is only the stuff referenced in the original trilogy that hardly anyone pays attention to. I don’t like when people spoil things, too.
Jaba was a creation of “Jim Hensons Muppet Studio” - A huge Muppet that required a team of 7 puppeteers to operate. Yoda and dozens of other characters were Muppets as well. In fact, the puppeteer who voiced Yoda, also voiced Ms. Piggy 🐷
People enjoy saying things like "it was a different time," while ignoring that John Brown was also a product of his time. "It was a different time" isn't a magic phrase that makes whatever shitty behavior they like be suddenly good.
Got emotional? Don't know why? I think it's because you watched a wonderful story with amazing characters where you suspended disbelief and lived in that universe. Or maybe that's me. Thanks for letting me re-live it.
"horrible" star wars fan here, I love watching reaction channels watch star wars so finding your channel has been fun. You definitely need to watch clone wars though!
Abby a little fun fact, the title of this movie actually refers to the return & redemption of a Jedi long thought dead!!! Anakin Skywalker … Return of the Jedi
Oh I recently discovered that George Lucas originally intended to have the Death Star only in the 3rd movie. Later on he decided to add a Death Star to the first (episode V) move. That's why there's a 2nd Death Star.
If it makes you feel any better, if Anakin had lived, he would've been imprisoned and most likely executed for the crimes he committed as Darth Vader. The real problem with the sequel trilogy that Disney made is that JJ Abrams wrote and directed Episode 7, then Rian Johnson wrote and directed Episode 8 and basically threw out everything that JJ had been setting up. Disney then brought back JJ for Episode 9 and he had to try to wrap up the trilogy while dealing with Rian having derailed the story he had been telling with Episode 7. As much flak as the prequel trilogy gets, at least it was one coherent story all written and directed by George Lucas and not a mess like the sequel trilogy was. Now that you've seen the original trilogy, you should check out Spaceballs. It's a spoof movie of Star Wars. The Ewoks were so popular they ended up getting their own two live-action movies and an animated series. R2-D2 and C-3PO also got their own animated series as well.
I was still six years old when my parents took my sister and I to see this. This is the first star wars movie for which I have definite memories of seeing in the theatre. It also became my benchmark for a movie going experience. While I feel Empire is the best of the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi is my favorite.
Abby don't let other people deter you from doing what you enjoy, don't let them take that away from you, may I make a suggestion, see if you can get in contact with Addie Counts, she is another reactor, that as far as I can see never gets hit with copyrights, maybe she can offer some help in that area:)?
Beyond the amazing effects for the time, one thing that has made these films such a cultural staple is that Lucas used these films to create a modern myth working off the traditional hero's journey. Luke is the young hero plucked from obscurity and gets a "magic weapon." He does the descent into the underworld via the cave in Dagobah, and eventually defeats the evil king. But it integrates more modern Judeo Christian western values. Rather than being a conquering hero, he's all about love and redemption and liberating the oppressed. It's a fantasy story and timeless tale told as a grand space opera. It's a story about family and friendship and how good can triumph over evil. All these themes are deeply embedded into our culture.
@@ryanjones358 Yeah, pure speculation, but I think being back in the limelight could have caused a relapse and lead to her untimely death, she was only 60.
@@cp368productions2 So appearing in Hallmark movies and guest spots on TV shows is the same as returning to a huge franchise in an iconic role that made her famous? I don't think so. I don't want to speak ill of the dead but she was clearly in bad shape by episode 8, she could barely move, whether that was because of her addiction problem or anxiety no one knows. I was just speculating.
Those dull reactors playing something and sitting in the corner make your job much harder, you voicing your opinions and feelings during the movie was very insightful

And a fan theory is that George wanted Jar Jar to be a bigger sith lord pulling the puppet strings of Darth Sidious....and there are videos explaining the evidences of that in episode 1.....
It's sad that a franchise that was ment to be so unifying with it's core themes of redemption and perseverance again insurmountable odds. Has instead become so decisive and uncompromising for so many..
Regarding the kisses. I think you have already been told that they never intended to mean much. What I think you need to realize is that the way people regarded their bodies in the late 70s, early 80s has nothing to do with how it is today. Surprisingly today we are getting kind of a puritanism revival. Which is interesting and it may be part of a natural cycle :) Back in the 70´s you got the peace and love age. It was way more common for people to hug, kiss, be close together. Like...I went to school in the late 80´s and we still played games were we would kiss classmates. And talking about tong action between 10/11 year olds lol Of course, when we ended up getting a more serious relationship we would not randomly kiss everyone around lol Ok....some always do it but that never changed.... Many of us would just become dedicated once we got into seriou relationships. And most of those random kisses really were no big deal. As example, I must have kissed half the girls in my classroom around 10 to 13 years old. But when I had my first real kiss with a girlfriend it was later and it was an entire different game ;) You can also see that the kind of kisses depicted between Leia and Luke are very casual ones. Completely different from when she starts kissing Han Solo. And her kisses with Han Solo have a lot more commitment behind them. Its pretty visible ;) We know the actors did have the necessary chemistry together. But still, if the Leia / Luke kisses were intended to have any meaning, they would have been directed to last longer / show a bit more commitment.
exactly. of all the smoochies shared by Luke and Leia, only one could be considered remotely sexual, and that was delivered just after an argument between leia and Han
Vader offers a quick death to his failed subordinates (and stoped killing any since he met his son in person on Bespin if you noticed), whereas the Emperor likes to play with his preys... It's war, there gonna be casualties, wether you like it or not. The hate the Anakin's actors will get is mainly due to George Lucas inability to write natural dialogue and direct his actors correctly. However the dialogues work on a symbolic level.
This film got a lot of hate back when it came out again in 1997 because of the little teddybear looking guys lol but it is my favorite of all of them :) Really like your Reaction and THANK YOU for putting the work in with these videos, its not easy so thanks :) from Ireland
When Luke attacks the Emperor with the saber, Vader blocks him not to protect the Emperor, but to protect Luke. Because at this point he didn´t want the same dark fate for his son.
Unfortunately, there is a segment of Star Wars fans that will become very negative if you decide to watch the disney sequels. I was entertained by those movies, but some people absolutely hate them for different reasons.
@@frankducky6130 I wasn't the biggest fan of the prequels compared to the OT, but the sequel trilogy now make them look like shakespeare in comparison.
@@frankducky6130 No, TPM is by far the weakest and if I had done the prequels I would've ditched Ep1 & split out Eps 2 & 3 with the deleted scenes to make the trilogy. However the sequel trilogy is just plain poopy the way it disrespected the OG characters. R2 plays a critical role in the OT and the Prequels and what does Jar Jar (its not plagerism, its 'Homage') Abrams do, stick him under a blanket for most of TFA in favour of stupid cutsey beachball droid that's forgotten about in the rest of the sequels.
@26:00 It's a damn shame that people in the comments were attacking attacking this youtuber. The Star Wars fandom is quite large, so it's going to have its share of idiots...

Luke Skywalker was A NEW HOPE. The battle of Hoth is where THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. The redemption of Anakin Skywalker is the RETURN OF THE JEDI. Star Wars is Anakin's story, not Luke's. Anakin died on the light side of the force.

No one has threatened anyone for enjoying something. There is no evidence of that. No one has shared one screen shot of anyone being threatened for liking the acolyte. People are accusing people who did not enjoy the acolyte of being racist. That's it. Just how people are free to enjoy something, people are also free to not enjoy something.
Yeah, I'd like to see receipts for that, as well (the alleged threats, that is). If it's happening at all, I haven't seen it. I do think it's interesting that those who were involved in making The Acolyte have never responded to any of the arguments that have been made by those who criticized the show. Like you said, they just write off the fans as racist, even though the critics don't indicate that's their reason for disliking the show. And it isn't just long term Star Wars fans who have disliked it. Alteori is pretty new to Star Wars, has never seen most of the films, and yet she gave an episode-by-episode critique, giving her reasons why she thinks it's bad storytelling. When videos critiquing the show are more entertaining and engaging than the show itself, the reason for its cancellation may be something besides racism.
@@stevenalexander6713 So there's no racism in any of the criticisms for any properties? Star Wars? Star Trek? Marvel? DC? Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings? Game of Thrones? No racism at all coming from the vast majority of white men who are criticizing and complaining about "wokeness?" None at all???

Ford and Fisher had no affair/hookup during this film. They only hooked and had a fast two to three week affair on the FIRST film of the original trilogy, " A New Hope " filmed in 1976. Fisher was 19 during that film and Ford was 33-34. After that very brief tryst...they never hooked up again but Fisher seemed to still have a crush on Ford till the day she died and her alluding to and making constant references to their affair in endless interviews, on stage shows, books...was irritating to Ford. She tells all about the affair in the book she published just before she died. She said in a TV interview...again talking about the affair on public TV, that she mentioned to Ford she was going to write about their hookup in her new book and wanted him to know. She said he said loudly, " Lawsuit !!! " She said he then walked away...but in her words, " ..was only kidding ". Anyhow, just FYI
Great reaction. And yes, as a Star Wars fan for many years it is still emotional when Anikin saves Luke and kills the emperor then dies. I feel so bad for you watching these for the first time and it's these shitty remastered and ruined editions of the movies. They added so much shit to them that just ruins several scenes. George Lucas went back and added and changed things 2010 and it's honestly unwatchable for me. Lucas basically banned the "unaltered" versions of the movies and you have to basically buy DVDs from 2006 or download it illegaly. So sad.
Yeah people online are insane. Star Wars and honestly many of the fans of any of the big stories vary in degree. People have threatened other people for liking something or disliking to be completely honest. It has gotten to the point that I have mostly stopped watching anyone whose platform is to be critical of something or someone. These movies were not written with great forethought. Lucas wrote a basic story and when he started doing the scripts he would change things to fit the story. Anakin Starkiller became Luke Skywalker and Anakin became his father. Luke was suppose to go to the dark side at the end. Leia was not Luke's sister until after the script for this movie was printed. The script editor had Lucas change his original idea because introducing new characters did not make sense so everything that was written before was just not planned to end as it did. To Lucas' credit it made the overall story better but Lucas was never a great writer he was just a really good storyteller. All in all Star Wars was meant to be a fun roller-coaster ride of storytelling like Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark. Spielberg and Lucas's ideas for movies were not the literary masterpieces but a good story that would make for a good movie going experience. This movie would be pretty much the end of Star Wars until over 15 years later with the prequels. In between here and the sequels we fans went a little crazy with comic books, novels and video games. We created a world of ideas that Lucas was ok to make money off of but he never accepted any of them as parts of his story. The prequels will be his idea of what he really wanted to do with the main character.
I enjoyed the original trilogy and the prequels. The sequels feels disconnected from the saga. The Thrwan trilogy graphic novel has an interesting Sequel story
Well technically the empire is not gone there are still people in charge but you'll have to read the books after the events of 6 to get that story, next in charge is thrawn great trilogy. Makes a better 7,8 and 9 too

@@AbbyJaneReacts yeah, like as in, I don't know how they could have possibly even thought he should be included. Apparently the character was so hated that the actor became suicidal at one point. He's still alive today though.
The sequel trilogy (7, 8, 9) are divisive. No matter what opinion you have, a big part of the fandom are going to dislike what you have to say. Might be wise to watch them on your own and quietly find out what you think of them.
The Acolyte situations has been very misconfussed, it was cancelled bc it wasn't rentable, and the lack renabilty was bc it was a bad show and incoherent story i'm glad some people enjoy it, and theres few a-holes that punished the actors but some TH-cams really want people that speak their honest opinions to not be monetized, really messy situation
You will understand why the Sequels are so hated when you get to them. Especially after seeing how the Prequels were done, you will understand how Disney destroyed Star Wars. When a reactor says they relate to C3PO 😳

In the original Darth Vader did not yell no. He just kept looking back and forth silently until he picked up the Emperor
Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader when he had turned to the Dark side and became Anakin Skywalker when he returned to the Light side. Luke had told his father he wanted to save him but Anakin said you already have Luke.
The original Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker was the older version of him. After the Sequels they ued the Younger Actor as Anakin's Force Ghost.
That high pitched Never! Had me rolling
On to the prequels! You're gonna absolutely die and cry when you watch Anakin become Vader. Soul crushing greek tragic, Shakespearean drama. Wow, I can't wait for your reaction. It's hard for anyone with a heart to handle!
Im looking forward to it!
Don't tell people how they should react. Let them experience it on their own.
Thank you! :)
or see Popcorn in Bed or Reacts with Jax.
What I know is that there were six people inside Jabba's structure, each one in charge to move a certain part of that body.

Hi Abby glad you liked the film but for me Empire Strikes Back is still the best one ever made, as for the prequels you will enjoy seeing how Anakin becomes Darth Vader it will make you both sad and mad at the same time,
Anyway would like to add some more horror reactionS to the ones I suggested last time, Dog Soldiers 2002, The Descent 2005, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974, The Whicker Man 1973, Halloween 1978, Carrie 1976, The Hills Have Eyes 1977.
Watch SOLO and you'll get the Lando backstory! Han & Lando have history together.

@@AbbyJaneReacts When u have style, you're always interesting!
In Empire Strikes Back, clearly Leia kissed Luke in order to demonstrate to Han that he (Han) meant nothing to her.
She wanted to make Han jealous
Jaba was a creation of “Jim Hensons Muppet Studio” - A huge Muppet that required a team of 7 puppeteers to operate. Yoda and dozens of other characters were Muppets as well. In fact, the puppeteer who voiced Yoda, also voiced Ms. Piggy 🐷
Frank Oz not just voiced Yoda but performed him as well (as a puppeteer). He was Jim Henson's primary partner among the Muppet crew.
The Emperor it´s not short at all. But Darth Vader, fully armored and with his boots and helmet on, he stood 2.03 m, or around 6'7" tall.

Oh I recently discovered that George Lucas originally intended to have the Death Star only in the 3rd movie. Later on he decided to add a Death Star to the first (episode V) move. That's why there's a 2nd Death Star.
It is totally mental to get too worked up about stuff that is SUBJECTIVE. As a writer...I cling to this fact. All hail different opinions!! Lol😊😊
@@StephenSinclair-d6n yes, that’s what makes art fun!
@@DavidSmith-mt7tb that’s such a great perspective

Regarding the kisses.
I think you have already been told that they never intended to mean much.
What I think you need to realize is that the way people regarded their bodies in the late 70s, early 80s has nothing to do with how it is today.
Surprisingly today we are getting kind of a puritanism revival. Which is interesting and it may be part of a natural cycle :)
Back in the 70´s you got the peace and love age. It was way more common for people to hug, kiss, be close together.
Like...I went to school in the late 80´s and we still played games were we would kiss classmates. And talking about tong action between 10/11 year olds lol
Of course, when we ended up getting a more serious relationship we would not randomly kiss everyone around lol Ok....some always do it but that never changed....
Many of us would just become dedicated once we got into seriou relationships. And most of those random kisses really were no big deal.
As example, I must have kissed half the girls in my classroom around 10 to 13 years old. But when I had my first real kiss with a girlfriend it was later and it was an entire different game ;)
You can also see that the kind of kisses depicted between Leia and Luke are very casual ones. Completely different from when she starts kissing Han Solo. And her kisses with Han Solo have a lot more commitment behind them. Its pretty visible ;) We know the actors did have the necessary chemistry together. But still, if the Leia / Luke kisses were intended to have any meaning, they would have been directed to last longer / show a bit more commitment.
exactly. of all the smoochies shared by Luke and Leia, only one could be considered remotely sexual, and that was delivered just after an argument between leia and Han
my 2 favorite classic star wars movies is 5 empire strikes back n this one 6 return of the jedi

Darth Vader ONLY defended the Emperor. Where did you get this theory from?
Unfortunately, there is a segment of Star Wars fans that will become very negative if you decide to watch the disney sequels. I was entertained by those movies, but some people absolutely hate them for different reasons.

She already slept with Warren Beatty (making the movie Shampoo) before Ford.
Poor Han never got to see Leia in her gold bikini and the reason Leia has a new dress on Endor is because it was from the Ewoks last dinner.
Harrison Ford got to see it so he passed it along to Han.
