If these new fans are going to watch the digitally remastered version, and not the theatrical release, then they're going to need any hints they can get.
@visionaryventures It's not 'joy' when they spoil it for first time viewers - it's ego. They have to prove that they're the smartest, most knowledgeable "Star Wars" fans in existence by spouting spoilers as if no one else in the world saw what they saw in the movies.
Spoilers suck ass, but to be fair, Star Wars is such a huge part of pop culture it's hard to realize that, somehow, some people have managed to avoid any spoilers.
However, when Luke says that he cannot “kill” who is on father, Obi-won replies, “Then the emperor has already won,” or something like that. Seems to confirm Luke’s take.
@TommygunNG True. I can only figure that Obi-Wan had lost hope but perhaps not Yoda. Not sure. In the end it is up to the Jedi to destroy the Sith but the love of family returned Anakin to the light.
Yeah, but it's hard to realize that someone actually doesn't know that Vader is Luke's father or something like that, spoilers are literally in jokes and in today language, you can't really avoid any spoilers for these big popcultre universes.
"People who spoil really suck..." Exactly! I love doing mischievous things, but spoiling is a step too far for me. Even for a film that's 41 fucking years old.
@@Rishi123456789 A agree, unfortunately, now when The Walking Dead spinoff is in the air, I saw very major spoiler literally in picture randomly on facebook in the walking dead group and there are such spoilers everywhere, people post it like 3 hours after that episode aired in the US, but here in Europe, it's 3AM for us, so you really can't see it that fast because you need to sleep and then go to work. These spoilers in first few hours should be banned in these groups and in some groups they are and admins actually ban for that. Our Czech groups and websites mostly have rule that NO spoilers in first week.
It doesn't matter if a film is 40+ years old or just arrived in the movie theater today. Spoiling things for a first time viewer is despicable. Shame, shame on the guy or girl who wrote the spoiler comment.
there's a beautiful little detail in this movie, that luke is in all black through the movie to imply he's going to go to the dark side, then at the end his top falls open to reveal light underneath the whole time and that he was never going to go dark.
Just before the climax of the lightsabre battle where Luke is hiding and Vader is taunting him to give in... Luke's face is half in light and half in shadow- symbolizing that Luke is sitting on the line between the Light side and the Dark side and could possibly go either way.
@@JCG52577 Whoa, so Luke is cloaked in the teachings of the jedi, but underneath is a powerful pull to the dark, ut ultimately underneath it all he is the light.
This movie was the first time we ever saw Jabba the Hut. He was a practical effect; a giant puppet that had 3 puppeteers inside to operate the arms, mouth, and tail, plus another person outside operating cables to actuate the eyes and nostril flares. No matter how good CGI gets, it just doesn't have the "weight" or the feel of this practical effect!

Don't spoil the Prequels, people!!!! Return Of The Jedi is my favorite...the Sarlacc Pit sequence and the Battle Of Endor.....best thing in Star Wars. Watched in 1984....and a lot of times ever since......
Darth Vader was killed by Luke... from a certain point of view. Remember when Obi-Wan said that Darth Vader killed Anakin?... again, from a certain point of view. In his last moments, he wasn't Darth Vader anymore, he was Anakin Skywalker.
"Oh, that poor animal...he was just a slave as well!" OMG. I have never heard a reactor empathize with the huge, monstrous creature that almost ATE Luke and did eat that slave girl who Jabba sent down earlier! IcedQ, you are truly an angel! So adorable!
People think they are clever and not spoiling things, but they aren't being clever. I, personally, especially hate it when people say that something something that will happen that you won't expect or you have to wait for a certain scene, or things to that effect. Just by hinting at something, it ends up spoiling it, even if the specifics aren't described.
This would have been the first time viewers saw Jabba in theaters. The song in Jabba’s palace totally isn’t what was seen in 1983. Look up on TH-cam “Jabba’s palace original” and “Return of the Jedi original ending”. Different palace song entirely. Also, notice Yoda said “confront Vader”, not necessarily kill him.
@@theevilascotcompany9255 I’m saying it’s not necessarily to destroy Anakin Skywalker. It’s a personal drama. Philosophical. Luke cannot become a Jedi until he has resolved inner qualms and conflict in his life. He must confront his daddy issues and resolve them so that he can have a clear mind to become a Jedi.
The amazing part was the actress Femi Taylor was basically in the same shape 14 years later that she could fit into the same outfit. I guess the life of a classically trained dancer has its benefits.
I was 12 when I saw this in the theater, it's still one of my favorites. A dark point my brother brought up is the ewoks "little bears " most likely eat the stormtroopers at the end.
The Imperial March (Vader's theme) was of course composed by John Williams, but as a favor to a friend, he let Thomas Newman, a largely unknown composer who had never worked in film before, arrange the sorrowful version that plays when Vader dies. Thomas Newman would then go on to have a stellar career in film scoring with his most notable works being The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, and WALL-E.
The ewok who steals the speeder bike was played by Kenny Baker, who also was inside R2-D2 when he’s stationary. In some shots, they’re next to each other, so R2 is mechanical.
With the shedding of those tears towards Vader, Quokka, you truly became a Star Wars fan. Great reaction, as always, and congrats on making it through the Original Trilogy. Even though a part of the Prequel Trilogy was spoiled for you, you're still going to enjoy the ride and learn a lot. Have fun!

Sorry, but Yoda and Obi-Wan were both wrong. They literally believed he needed to kill Vader. What made Luke special was that he refused. Don't try and rewrite the point of these movies.
@@chand911 Ya, the point being Lukes way of being a jedi is better. Obi and yoda were definitely right about killing vader from their pov, but they didnt know luke would be able to turn vader back. Their old jedi dogma about having no attatchments failed, and Luke proved that they can be a good thing.
I love when you share your hypotheses for what might happen, or what might have occurred previously to set into motion the current state of things. You're gonna LOVE the journey ahead!
In the novel, from what I remember, Vader cracked the emperor’s ribcage as he lifted him and threw him down the abyss. When Luke removed Vader’s helmet, he was able to breathe for the first time free from the suit and the influence of the Dark Side. Scents that brought back a flood of memories that brought him back as Anakin Skywalker. Did you recognize the rebel pilot Wedge Antilles? He was Luke’s wingman down the Death Star trench in A New Hope. Wedge was with him at the Battle of Hoth and was the only one to bring down a Walker by entangling the legs in The Empire Strikes Back. Here, Wedge gets to shine by flying with Lando into the heart of the Death Star 2. He is seen with Luke and the Ewoks in the end scene. I was surprised at how it ended, as I expected Hollywood to milk this franchise dry, that it had an end to the story. Very pleasantly surprised. Took my dad to see a Star Wars marathon a few years later. All three original movies shown in theater in one night!
Remember, neither of them ever said that Luke had to kill Vader, just confront/face him again. Luke took that to mean they wanted him to kill his father in order to become a true Jedi and save the galaxy (I do believe Obi-Wan had given up hope for Anakin by this point and honestly did think Luke would be forced to kill him).
My favorite Star Wars movie. Saw it back in 83 when I was 6 going on 7. It became my benchmark for a movie going experience. There was a television special around the time of release called classic creatures. The subject was creature special effect throughout cinema, with a primary focus on return of the jedi. It showed how they did a lot of the stuff in this movie.
"My favorite Star Wars movie." Based, me too. The Empire Strikes Back is good with its iconic twist and everything else, but Return Of The Jedi takes the cake for me because I love its theme of parents being saved by their children.
51:50 “I can’t change the past, but I can change the future, & I will! I’m not gonna lose my children the same way that I already lost everything else that I loved because of this lunatic!!” At that moment, Darth Vader is gone & Anakin Skywalker has finally been reborn!!
It amuses me how Threepio talks to Artoo like Artoo is a young sibling who needs protection from the world when if it wasn't for Artoo, Threepio would have been csptured in the very first movie, had his memory wiped (for a droid, this is akin to being killed) then reprogrammed (now a new Threepio with no personality) to serve the Empire.
The movie has the happy fairy tale ending that Lucas insisted on. :) Lucas did a tremendous job with the Vader character arc. Unlike today, when movie franchises are controlled by corporations, Star Wars was now singularly under the control of Lucas. So we had to wait 16 years before Lucas decided it was time to do the prequels. I hope you watch them. :)
Don't know how deep you want to go but the animated series The Clone Wars will give you a well rounded outlook on everything. That series should be watched in chronological order.
15:45 There is a scrapped scene that take place just before the droids approach Jabbas palace where Luke construct that light saber. There is a video of it on TH-cam but I forgot the title.
Tatooine, name directly inspired from the near town of Tataouine where they filmed... Not many reactors seem to acknowledge the fact that Luke, indeed, uses Force choking, although I don't think he killed the gards, he just incapacitate them to get them out of the way. The Emperor is not that short, Vader is very tall, over two meters high !
I believe that in some of the novels Luke reminisces on how choking Jabba's guards was him nearing the edge of the dark side and some of the weakness the Emperor hoped to exploit.
1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue. 2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it through Luke. Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. Willow is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share. 7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. Carrie Fisher😇 said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy. 10. Ford wanted Han to die in the last episode. 11. This is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After the first six he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly
I don't THINK Leia ever became a jedi, though. She learned some force powers over the years, but I don't think she ever got actual jedi training. Could be wrong, though.
Also, Williamrosmer is pretty much right. While Rotj was also my favorite, Empire is very widely regarded as qualitatively better due to Irvin Kershner's awesome involvement, most likely.
@@LeChaunce - C3PO talks WAY too much... which is why he's NEVER told anything. R2D2 is always in on the plan, while 3PO is constantly left in the dark, because they KNOW he'll talk.
This movie was the first movie I took my wife to watch back in early 1978 while we both were stationed at NATTC Millington for our Navy and Marine schools. We have always had a very fond memories of these movies, since the sand dune scene in Episode VI, Return of the Jedi was filmed between the two bases we were stationed at. As a fan of all things Star Wars, you might want to take a pause and actually watch "Rogue One, a Star wars Story". There will be NO SPOILERS if you watch it, because it is tied to these three movies you just watched. All nine of the actual movies start with "Star Wars, Episode I through IX" The reason I suggest this is because a lot of people who had not watched A New Hope through Return of the Jedi many times will miss a lot in Rogue One. Rouge One uses many characters and un-used film from the three original movies. Since these three movies are so fresh in your mind, you will actually get more out of Rogue One, than if you wait to watch it.
I'm not sure. I think R1 might play better from the perspective of having already seen the prequels. I think if someone watches R1 before the prequels, they will be missing a lot of perspective regarding the fact that R1 takes place between the two trilogies. Not sure.
Jabba in this movie was a puppet with about half-a-dozen puppeteers, at the time it was the biggest puppet in a movie (unchanged in the re-releases/updates). The scene with the band however was redone with CGI, new band members and dancers added and even the song was a new one, replacing the very disco original, the Ewok song at the end is a new one too.
So sorry that got spoiled for you. Getting a moderator, or even a friend to manage your comments before you read them could help avoid future spoilage.
I was 13 years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars and 16 Years old in 1980 when I saw Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and i was 19 Years old in 1983 when I saw Episode VI The Return of The Jedi in the Movie Theatre. Everyone was shocked and gasped when it was revealed Princess Leia was Luke's Twin Sister. Everyone in the Movie Theatre cheered when Darth vader turned on the Emperor. Anakin Skywalker was the Jedi who returned. Luke hinted at that when he told the Emperor that he was a Jedi like his Father before me. In the original version Darth Vader does not say no before turning on the Emperor. He just keeps looking back and forth before he picks up the Emperor. also in the original the force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker is the Older version of Anakin. He was portrayed by the Actor who was in the Darth Vader Uniform Luke's Lightsaber in this movie was Green. This introduced the Green Light saber to Starwars. Previously Blue was the Jedi Color and Red was the Sith Lord Dark side of the force color.
No the actor who played old anakin at the end wasn't the one in the suit. David Prowse was in the suit, Sebastian Shaw was the face. And back then there was no Sith, they were refered to as dark Jedi.
His old lightsaber that he lost on Cloud City was blue. There's a deleted scene of him building his new green one at Obiwan's place before he goes to Jabba's Palace. I think it can be found on TH-cam.
58:20 Originally it was the same actor as in Vader's death scene, Sebastian Shaw that appeared as Anakin's force ghost, but after the prequels George Lucas edited in Hayden Christensen instead.
It has been quite a while, but it was definitely worth waiting. That was a great reaction - thank you! I didn’t forget about my promise to reveal my most favorite line of all the movies I ever watched in my entire life, after you react to “Return Of The Jedi” - it is “I am a Jedi, like my father before me”. I also feel sad and sorry that someone spoiled some things for you. Hopefully this will not happen again. I was so curious to see your reaction to the ewoks … it was just as I expected - thanks again, I haven’t seen one single girl who doesn’t LOVE them … and R2D2. I realize you’re not aware of this and I am sorry it is sad news - Lando (the actor who played his role) just passed away and became one with the Force … it happened a few days ago, on March 29th - the Force will be with him, always. You took my advice (and others’ as well) to have some tissues at hand … those you will certainly need again at least at the end of the next trilogy (eps. 1, 2 and 3), where you’ll learn the full story of Darth Vader and where all your questions will be answered. Just follow the story itself. Looking forward to your next reaction. Salutations from Romania … P.S. (edited) (@MLJ7956) (@Rishi123456789) I think I’ve just been hit by a huge Mandela effect. On March 30 2024, someone commented on a Star Wars movie reaction, that Billy Dee Williams died one day earlier. On every internet site I researched, I found the same info that confirmed that. Now, April 10 2024, I can not find even one single of those sites, I can not even find that video reaction anymore … that is huge … just the same as the baseball guy and the blonde lady reporter (see “Blonde Reporter Baseball Mandela Effect”).
Correction....Billy Dee Williams the actor who plays Lando in the original trilogy is still alive, he's 87. As well as the actor who plays young Lando in the Solo: A Star Wars Story prequel film. Donald Glover is 40. You are probably thinking of Carl Weathers (who was Greef Karga in The Mandalorian TV series). He recently passed away at 76. RIP 😢
"Lando (the actor who played his role) just passed away and became one with the Force" Nope, he's still alive. He hasn't become one with the Force yet.
Almost all new reactors say that ROTJ is their favorite and the most emotional of the original three. Must be because it brings closure. ESB is the better movie but ROTJ is sooo good.
One thing that I loved about the Original Trilogy is how the lightsaber duels were not just about swordfights. They were really stages for the psychological battles between the characters. That's one thing I feel we lost with the newer movies. Your reaction to the ending and the death of Darth Vader was is why Darth Vader is known as one of the greatest villains in cinema history. Not many villains will make you cry for them upon their death. The redemption and death of Anakin Skywalker is an amazing character arc. I don't know if you noticed but in the ending sequence when the ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears, Obi-Wan glanced and smiled at him. There is a non-canon book that goes into that. When Anakin dies, as he "floats" in the netherworld of the Force, Obi-Wan contacts him. It goes like this : "Master. I am so, so sorry." “Anakin, listen carefully. You are in the netherworld of the Force, but if you ever wish to revisit corporeal space, then I still have one thing left to teach you. A way to become one with the Force. If you choose this path to immortality, then you must listen now, before your consciousness fades.” “But Master … why me?” “Because you ended the horror, Anakin. Because you fulfilled the prophecy. Because you were … and are … the Chosen One.” “Because I was wrong about you. And because I am your friend.” “Thank you, Master.” [Ryder Windham’s The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi]
I was at just the age where Return of the Jedi was the first movie I decided to go see with my friends as a kid, every movie before that was my parents taking the family to the movies. I declare that the moment when Luke did the flip off the gangplank was THE most excitig moment in cinema history. I still remember, people in the theater jumping up and shouting like it was a sporting event the whole time Luke was kicking butt. You also have to remember, back in they day we had to wait YEARS in between movies, so the anticipation for that moment of seeing what jedi could really do had been building for nearly ten years from the moment Luke snapped on the lightsaber in Obi-Wan's hut, and it was GLORIOUS when we got it!

9:50 "How is she going to get Han out? Oh, just by pressing a button." Yep. Jabba's favorite decoration is one button press away from being ruined forever and he never thought to cover up that button, maybe we some metal and a lock. Lucky for Han that Jabba is so careless with his favorite things.
They filmed the scene with Jabba the Hutt for the first Star Wars film using a human actor that's why Han Solo says to him " You're a wonderful human being " but they didn't end up using the scene in the final release of the movie. For this film George Lucas decided to make Jabba a huge slug so when they added the Jabba scene back into the original movie they put a CGI Jabba where the human actor used to be. This movie used a huge puppet for Jabba the Hutt because CGI wasn't really a thing when this movie was made.
However the 'you're wonderful human being' line has a different effect within the movie nowadays (now that the CGI Jabba has been added). Myself and other audiences took it as Han was subtly insulting Jabba. 😉
dollars to donuts the spoilsport who ruined the movie for IcedQuokka is a poster named Nicolas Vincent. you're one of the few reactors i've seen that acknowledge that the way luke beat vader was bad. thankfully the emperor doesn't know when to shut up in this scene.
It was also great that Luke realized what he was doing and remembered his failure at the cave in EP 5: ESB (that he would become like Vader if he went down the dark path as Yoda warned). Looking at Vader's hand and his own hand brought him right out of his anger. And that's why he threw his lightsaber away to declare to the Emperor "I am a Jedi, like my father before me". Luke learned what Vader didn't. ✌️

In the 80s, before the prequel movie series, the long running Clone Wars animated movie and series and the Disney Star Wars movies & TV shows, George Lucas did write & produce 2 made-for-TV movies featuring the Ewoks and little Wicket, again played by actor Warwick Davis. (The Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure in 1984 & Ewoks: Battle For Endor in 1985). Me & my girlfriend personally enjoyed them for what they are but other fans have mixed reactions to them (some enjoy them like as we did while others hate them). Other than the books/novels, Saturday moring cartoons (there were also 2 animated SW cartoons, Droids: The Adventures of C-3PO & R2-D2 & Ewoks: The Animated Series) and comics at the time in the 80s, this was the first look into the George Lucas produced live-action Star Wars expanded universe. Those two TV Ewok movies haven't been upgraded to Blu-Ray yet nor do I think they are available for streaming yet either but you can still find them both pretty easily (in a 2 pack) on DVD, on sites like Amazon & eBay.

Just questions to ask & think about as you continue your journey into the Star Wars universe 😉. Peace ✌️
I saw the original in the theater in 1977. I was 6. I fell in love and have been a lifelong fan. I thoroughly enjoy watching much younger people discover the Star Wars universe through these reactions. Your videos are some of the best. You have great instincts. Which leads me to the reason I’m writing you. You’re just slightly missing how the force works. No one has the force. The force is, like Yoda said, all around us. It’s surrounds and penetrates all living things. It binds the galaxy together. Force wielders are sensitive and can feel the force. They can be trained to use the force. When you see Yoda lift the X-wing out of the swamp or Vader choking someone, or Obi Wan using the Jedi mind trick they’re all using/wielding the force. In the time of the Jedi very young children who are force sensitive are found and trained. They are called younglings. If they decide to continue their training to become Jedi they are paired as pre teens or early teens with a master who instructs them. They are then called padawan or learner. After lots more training and time they can achieve the rank of knight and eventually master. With time and training their force abilities grow. After Obi Wan, Yoda and Vader died you saw and heard their force ghosts. They are now part of the living force. It’s yet another level of mastery or achievement in the force. I hope that helps you understand the force a little better. I can hardly wait for your next Star Wars reaction.
In case anyone hasn't mentioned it, there are more movies following this that follow these characters :) A lot of people online will tell you not to watch them because they just didn't like some of the decisions made, but as a lifelong fan I love them because they're Star Wars and still part of this story. I would love if you do end up doing reactions to the sequels! After the prequels, of course.
Ironically, the Emperor appears so frail/twisted because of his extensive use/power with the Dark Side of the force which twists and scars force users as they use it more/become more proficient with it. As an aside, Ian McDiarmid who portrays the emperor in the original series and prequels is in reality one of the nicest, most gentlemanly men you could meet (judging by interviews, what others have said about him, I haven't met him)
As with the idea that Vader was Luke's father, the idea of Luke and Leia being related didn't come about until this episode was being filmed. They needed something that would draw Luke out of hiding during his fight with Vader, and they decided that Luke's desire to protect his sibling would be the perfect incentive. I believe Warwick David was 11 when he was hired to play Wicket, the first Ewok we meet. He can be seen without make-up in the crowd scenes for the Boonta Eve podrace in Phantom Menace. He has also played Professor Flitwick and some goblins in Harry Potter. George Lucas was, in part, telling a cautionary tale about over-reliance on technology. He used the primitive techniques of the Ewoks to do major damage to Imperial weapons like the 'chicken walkers'. I met Dave Prowse some years ago at a convention. He told the story about how the Emperor's death was filmed, Because he had badly arthritic knees, the stunt arranger tried several different methods, including springboards and wires, but nothing looked right. Dave himself suggested that he lift the Emperor, turn, take two steps, and pitch him over the railing. They tried it, and got it in one take. The Endor location filming was done in the Redwood National and State Forests in California. Peter Mayhew was not allowed to wander around in his Chewbacca costume in case someone mistook him for Bigfoot. The Ewok celebration music was originally very different, more upbeat. Also, Anakin's Force Ghost was originally portrayed by Sebastian Shaw, wh0 was Anakin when Luke pulled his helmet off. It was changed to Hayden Christiansen after the prequel films were released.
21:31 There's also the scene when Luke was leaving Dagobah to help Han and Leia, and Obi-Wan said to Yoda "That Boy Is Our Last Hope" and Yoda replies, "No, There Is Anorher"
In Between Episode 5 and 6 luke goes to Obi-wan's house on Tatooine and makes a New Lightsaber, if you notice Anakin's Lightsaber that was lost on Cloud city was Blue and Luke's New one is Green and more of a style to that of Obi-wan than Anakin's
A few facts about Return of the Jedi: The teddy bears are called ewoks. The creature held in jabba's basement is a rancor, native to another planet. The squid looking guy is admiral Ackbar, he is of the mon calamari race. Once the rebels helped the Mon Calamari to liberate their planet, Mon Cala, the mon cals joined the rebellion and turned all their huge ships with advanced shields into war ships to help the rebel fleet. This info is all background lore, never given exposittion in any of the movies, so not spoiling anything. This was my favorite movie of all time throughout my childhood and still might be now. Kind of Was my childhood. Enjoyed the reaction! Hope youll enjoy the prequels! As to whether Leia could hear Luke in Empire bc of being force sensitive herself, or if it was bc Luke had it and they had a special/familial bond, or if just one person strong in the force can sometimes send messages to others regardless of whether they are force sensitive or not is never explained in the movies, but there's a good chance George Lucas, or someone else with his permission, answered this question somewhere else.
Yes Jabba in Episode 4 was added in the 90s, This Jabba was an actual puppet it took 6 crew members to control him from the inside of the puppet. The Disney Trilogy Episodes 7 to 9 were originally going to be about Luke Teaching Leia the Force along with others in a New Jedi Academy, but then Disney Bought LucasFilm and disregarded everything George Lucas had planned and took the films their own direction changing existing character's personalities and pushing political agenda
If you feel for the rancor, you'd enjoy his background tale. He was indeed a victim, but he and his keeper were two decent souls in that hell and they did have some good times
My most favourite Star Wars film of all time is Return Of The Jedi and always will be, but only the versions that don't have Vader yelling "NO!" and Force Ghost Anakin played by Sebastian Shaw. Also, this is the true end of the Skywalker Saga as none of Disney's shit is canon. The Skywalker Saga is the first six films and nothing more, in my opinion.
A scene between Han and a human Jabba was shot but didn't appear in the final cut of episode IV. After the giant slug Jabba appeared in episode VI as a puppet, they went back and modified the original Han/Jabba scene by covering up the human actor with a CGI Jabba as part of the update to episode IV's effects and added the result back into the new version of the movie.
However, when Luke says that he cannot “kill” who is on father, Obi-won replies, “Then the emperor has already won,” or something like that. Seems to confirm Luke’s take.
@TommygunNG True. Just guessing but maybe Obi-Wan means, how far are you willing to go. The goal is to destroy the Sith one way or another so I can see how it can be taken that way.
The battle on Endor was the Wookie homeworld in one draft of the script. But Lucas thought it would be too expensive and he wanted to sell cuddly toys.
19:49 remember, Yoda only ever says Luke must "confront" Vader. Yoda never says Luke must kill Vader. 36:44 in the EU novel I, Jedi the process of building a lightsaber is outlined. Mechanically, its not complex, but the Jedi channels The Force through it for many hours to fuse the parts together with extreme efficiency so the blade ignites instantly each and every time, and never sputters, plus it can operate a very long time off a small energy cell. In the novel it takes 30 days of meditation to forge a lightssber, and under the Old Republic a students final trial before attaining the rank of Jedi Knight is building their lightsaber.

Sadly, Fans who are enwrapped in their own joy, don’t recognize that new viewers don’t know as much. Just let the viewer experience the movie fresh.
You’re too kind-some people are just self absorbed morons.

Yeah, but it's hard to realize that someone actually doesn't know that Vader is Luke's father or something like that, spoilers are literally in jokes and in today language, you can't really avoid any spoilers for these big popcultre universes.
"People who spoil really suck..."
Exactly!
Spoiling things for a first time viewer is despicable.

there's a beautiful little detail in this movie, that luke is in all black through the movie to imply he's going to go to the dark side, then at the end his top falls open to reveal light underneath the whole time and that he was never going to go dark.
That reference is for real OGs.
Just before the climax of the lightsabre battle where Luke is hiding and Vader is taunting him to give in...
Luke's face is half in light and half in shadow- symbolizing that Luke is sitting on the line between the Light side and the Dark side and could possibly go either way.

Fun Fact: The shot of the slave alien falling into the pit, and the shot of her in the dungeon were shot 14 years apart!

The music is this movie stood out the most for me, compared to the other two, really added so much emotion 😭

The ewok who steals the speeder bike was played by Kenny Baker, who also was inside R2-D2 when he’s stationary. In some shots, they’re next to each other, so R2 is mechanical.

Sorry, but Yoda and Obi-Wan were both wrong. They literally believed he needed to kill Vader. What made Luke special was that he refused. Don't try and rewrite the point of these movies.
No, when Luke said "I can't kill my own father" and Obi Wan replied with, "then the emperor has already won" begs to differ
@@chand911 Ya, the point being Lukes way of being a jedi is better. Obi and yoda were definitely right about killing vader from their pov, but they didnt know luke would be able to turn vader back.
And Wedge is also played by, young Obi wan's (Ewan McGregor) uncle, Denis Lawson
Actually obi wan and Yoda realised that they were wrong and so (as a gift) they taught Anakin how to become a force ghost

3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they
decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape.
4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying
to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related.
5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han.
6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13.

8. Carrie Fisher😇 said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba.
9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy.

Jabba in this movie was a puppet with about half-a-dozen puppeteers, at the time it was the biggest puppet in a movie (unchanged in the re-releases/updates).
He was portrayed by the Actor who was in the Darth Vader Uniform
Luke's Lightsaber in this movie was Green.

Nope, he's still alive.
It goes like this :
"Master. I am so, so sorry."
“Anakin, listen carefully. You are in the netherworld of the Force, but if you ever wish to revisit corporeal space, then I still have one thing left to teach you. A way to become one with the Force. If you choose this path to immortality, then you must listen now, before your consciousness fades.”
“But Master … why me?”
“Because you ended the horror, Anakin. Because you fulfilled the prophecy. Because you were … and are … the Chosen One.”
“Because I was wrong about you. And because I am your friend.”
“Thank you, Master.” [Ryder Windham’s The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi]

I still remember, people in the theater jumping up and shouting like it was a sporting event the whole time Luke was kicking butt. You also have to remember, back in they day we had to wait YEARS in between movies, so the anticipation for that moment of seeing what jedi could really do had been building for nearly ten years from the moment Luke snapped on the lightsaber in Obi-Wan's hut, and it was GLORIOUS when we got it!

@@MLJ7956 Yes that's how I take it now also since the changes it's about the only way you can take it now.
No, Yoda never said anything about killing Vader, he said "confront" and chose that word carefully.
The Endor forests scenes were filmed in Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park in Northern California
dollars to donuts the spoilsport who ruined the movie for IcedQuokka is a poster named Nicolas Vincent. He is a disgruntled Terminator fanatic who hates Star Wars and wants to make the whole fandom suffer. It's impossible to reason with posters like that, i asked him to please be more polite when discussing these movie and he just kept insulting me, telling me to go back to my Mom's basement, just really hurtful stuff.
People like that have control issues. It’s a foolhardy arrogance grown from a bully perspective. Unfortunately, there isn’t a simple way of dealing with them other than just standing up to them.
@@scottallen6160 He kept saying i cuddle with a baby yoda plush doll and that i was an incel. I told him i don;t have a girlfriend because of me, not society. And then he used a common bully tactic of pretending he didn't read what i wrote and doubled down on the yoda plush doll insult. What is about the internet that makes people like him total jerks?
@@Ralph-o7d Bullies don’t like themselves and the cliche ‘misery loves company’ applies. So they want miserable company. They act tough on the anonymous internet but run in packs in person because they are afraid, kind of like Chihuahuas if Chihuahuas ran in packs. They like baiting so don’t take it. Stick to the facts of your post and don’t acknowledge the personal attack, they’ll quit.
@@scottallen6160 Maybe if that hater actually paid attention to SW, he would've been better adjusted. At the very least, he could've embraced the Dark Side and root for the baddies, and still have fun. But no, haters gonna hate.
@@Ralph-o7d What is it about the internet? My frustration as well. They can be their worst selves on the other side of a screen and keyboard, and feel untouchable.
Prequels next, then Rogue One.
Solo too
@@phillipdry3696 never! Disney garbage! #sololostmoney
Decide for yourself what's garbage.
Jabba in this film is a giant puppet/ costume. There is an operator controlling his face via remote and three guys inside him one in his tail. Carrie stepped on the poor guy's head when she strangled Jabba.
"Did he step on a tweeg?! Naur!" XD
Phwoar!
Vader force-retreiving his thrown saber as he descends the stairs...the very definition of power move.
it was a joy watching you experience these movies. i've seen them so many times for so many years that it's hard to find that old joy of discovery. so i highly appreciate your sharing that with us.
you're one of the few reactors i've seen that acknowledge that the way luke beat vader was bad. thankfully the emperor doesn't know when to shut up in this scene.
@@MLJ7956 in this scene i've also felt the emperor talked a few times where if he'd been quiet luke would have gone further to the dark side, but hearing the emperor try to provoke the reaction more helped him come back to control.
Great reaction to this classic and for the end of the original Star Wars trilogy...but how did it all begin???...
I hope that you will do the prequel films soon (including Rogue One & the Solo movie). Not going to spoil anything for you (I promise) but these questions I list here should hype you up for them....
*How did Anikin meet Natalie Portman's character (sorry someone spoiled that for you) & how did they fall in love?
*When were Luke & Leia born?
*Why were Luke & Leia separated and where did they end up?
*How did Anikin meet Obi-Wan and being his training to be a Jedi?
*Are the driods in the prequels?
*Is Yoda in the prequels?
*How did Han Solo & Chewbacca meet?
*How did Han Solo get the Millennium Falcon from Lando?
*How did The Emperor & the Empire come into power?
*What happened to all the good Jedi?
*How did Ankin get seduced by the Dark Side of The Force?
*How did Ankin become Darth Vader?
*How was the 1st Death Star built?
*How did Princess Leia get those secret Death Star plans?
*Are we going to learn new things about The Force & the Dark Side?
*Are we going to meet any new fun characters, other villians and weird aliens?

There's also the scene when Luke was leaving Dagobah to help Han and Leia, and Obi-Wan said to Yoda "That Boy Is Our Last Hope" and Yoda replies, "No, There Is Anorher"
So cool to see you enjoy these classics. I could never spoil a film for someone, especially a film I love as much as this one.
"It is too late for me, son"
"Then my father is truly dead" 😢
"How could he figure that out so quickly?" A combination of the Force connection, and I'm guessing her kissing him like a sister, lol.
Desert scenes for this movie were filmed in Death Valley, Nevada and Yuma, Arizona but they are a good match for Tunisia.
The thing to remember about the prequals is they hit an iceberg and sink.. There's only enough room on R2 for 3P0..
The prequels are a mess but they're star wars. Disneyverse is not
A scene between Han and a human Jabba was shot but didn't appear in the final cut of episode IV. After the giant slug Jabba appeared in episode VI as a puppet, they went back and modified the original Han/Jabba scene by covering up the human actor with a CGI Jabba as part of the update to episode IV's effects and added the result back into the new version of the movie.
Luke is the only one who uses the word 'kill' Yoda says confront and Obi-Wan says face, they never say kill.
The speeder bike chase is NOT green screen. It was filmed at walking pace and then the footage was sped up.
I think the rotj novelization describes a bit too, also shadows of the empire
StarWars 5 Empire strikes back n SW 6 return of the Jedi this movie are my favorite ones of the original SW movies n I love ur small brown color stuff bunny 🐰 holding a flag on ur desk :)
