This piece is composed in a lyrical neo romantic mode - a few modal harmonies and flourishes that revive both romanticism and perhaps medievalism by promoting the power of the imagination, perhaps a combination of the exotic and the mundane.
The rabbit is represented by the jagged staccato passages and slightly modal harmonies which contrast with the plateauing and richly chordal harmonies.
A seemingly peaceful and harmonious existence that naturally occurs between the joyful little prancing rabbit and the pleasantly purposeful Spanish farmer - a miniature romantic and emblematic portrayal of the Spanish musical idiom blending in with the oddly curious and offbeat harmonies and flourishes.
