My favorite since I was 14,am now 82. Went to 20 or so of his concerts. He should be honored at the Kennedy honoree program. He is a national treasure. There is no voice such as his , very distinctive. Bless the Lord for giving us Mr Mathis.
It was in 1955, I was in eighth grade I first heard Mr. Mathis on the radio. I have been n loved with him and his music since age thirteen. I was blessed to hear him in person at a concert in Atlanta, and two occasions at NJPAC. The next morning afterwards, I was on my way to New York. It was my wildest dream to meet him in person at Newark Train Station, Newark, New Jersey. The city should have placed a plaque on bench, stating, Johnny Mathis sat here. I thank God for the encounter. May He bless you with health, long life to enjoy your hard work. May we all learn to live together as Sister’s and brothers, offering a hand up and not criticizing what is and what is not. We are all human beings with a heart. ❤❤❤ I love you, Johnny to the moon and back.
Johnny is such a remarkable singer🎤🎶🎵i just can’t get enough of his smooth an sultry voice….thank “GOD” for great parents whom stick by their kids an love 💗 them “throughout” all of their endeavors “GODBLESS you Johnny luv A❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯🎶
I have enjoyed his music since I was young & was fortunate to see him live at the Jones Beach Theater. His music has a special place in my heart as it was popular while I was growing up, got married & started a family. Today, he is still one of my favorite performers. Thank you for the great memories!
I have enjoyed his music for many years!! I loved going to hear him sing as many times as possible!!! His recording " Until the Twelth of Never", was my favorite!!!!
I'll always play his music, since the fifties and Life is full of ups and downs Johnny sang beautiful songs throughout his career and I wish him the best.
I feel in love with you at the age of 8 My dad had all ur songs on a reel to reel machine I would sit in front of it and listen to u sing I felt like I was in a different place. A place where there was love and caring My home life was very bad so much so I left home at 14 I am 67 now and still whenever I hear u sing I get those comfortable feelings again I have always wanted to meet you just to tell u thank u for being u
So sorry to hear about your bad home life 😢 That had to suck really big time! Probly kinda tends to stick with you in the dusty cobwebs of your memory, unless you're able to tuck it away it a deep dark place...May God Bless You Always 🙏❤🙏
I have been his fan since I was in my early teens. I’m 77 now and love him still. His personal choices in life do not bother me now and never did. His beautiful voice will be with me always. Not a day goes by that I do not listen to several of his songs. I love them all. I saw him in concert only once in Des Moines, Iowa. A evening I will never forget. He is just magical
I have always been a fan of Johnnie singing his beautiful voice for many years and I still love listening to him sing when his songs have come on the radio he’s always been a great singer and wonderful person
I had the chance to see Johnny Mathis in concert extraordinary he is absolutely positively my favorite singer of all time his voice is Golden and Angelic I do not care what his personal preference is of whom he is dating that is his choice he is still my favorite singer of all time
It's been wonderful to watch this video. Ever since I was 13 or 14 years old, I fell in love with his voice and his music style. That was back in 1959, when Johnny sang A certain Smile as part of the soundtrack and appeared in the movie with the same title. Throughout my 79 years of age, I have cherished this great human being named Johnny Mathis. I missed seeing him live in London, because the show happened to be sold out and that was my last day in the City. That was the only time I could have had the opportunity to see him perform live. How wonderful to learn that he had the support of his father on his LGBT journey. Not many of us have been so lucky. Thank you so much for posting this video and best regards to Johnny, from one of his many fans around the world, now living in Venezuela.
I have been a fan of Mr Mathis most of my life, my first LP was a Christmas gift Merry Christmas that I still play now. I remember when he came to the YMCA in. Harlem we sat on the floor he sang and talked to our group. My first husband was jealous of him, not knowing I thought of him when Mr Mathis sang. Thanks for all good memories, I will always be a fan!
I love Johnny Mathis unique voice. I'm praying 🙏 for Him. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be upon him and be his guide and wisdom in his remaining time here on earth 🌍, amen 🙏
My husband and myself, brother and sister-in-law saw him in lake Tahoe As he 🎉was singing everyone in the audience were cuddling.we loved him Thank you Mr Mathis.
My mom was out on the town In NYC with friends when the met him in a bar, he bought the ladies a round of drinks and was super sweet to them. My mom never forgot how sweet, gentlemanly and kind he was.
I dearly love Johnny Mathis career. He is one of my all-time favorites. He sends Thrills of Hope romance and love when he sings. I also absolutely detest homosexuality lifestyle!
I have loved Johnny Mathis since first hearing him in the early Sixties, his Christmas Music became an immediate mainstay. This was a great video, appreciate hearing this story, sure don't seem like he's "living sad" - if your working-out five times a week at that age, I'd say you are enjoying a lot of good energy!
Johnny Mathis was true to himself. Accepting his personal life being the most poignant of how it affected him deeply. Having such a wonderful loving, supportive father helped him have acceptance in his personal life. Coupled with such a wonderful family and home life. And his father being open with the demons that Johnny struggled, facing his sexuality. This made Johnny feel that he was no different than anyone else, who had preference to a relationship which was homosexual. This was stereotyped and stigmatised in the 1950’.s. Johnny had the most incredible smooth voice, his first song was Blue Heaven that he would sing to visitors who came to visit at his family home. He could also play the piano. Johnny’s superb voice would be described as a middle tenor his highest notes, to warm lower notes. Johnny could also sing falsetto, his highest notes sang in unbroken tenor tones. His rise to fame gave him some unforgettable hits such as , Chances Are, Misty, When Sunny Gets Blue, Wonderful!. Wonderful!. Too Much Too Little Too Late just some of his most famous songs. At the age of 13 Johnny had a voice coach Connie Cox, not having any money to pay for lessons, Johnny would repay her, by helping her around the house, to thank her for or teaching him. He studied with her for 6 years and this really helped him to sing a wide range and have a pitch perfect voice. He preferred to drop Johnny and be called John. He had a Phenomenal career that has spanned six decades. Who couldn’t fall in love with his golden voice?. I think my most favourite song is I’m On The Outside Looking In. And my favourite duet was John singing with Deniece Williams, Too Much Too Little Too Late. John sang love songs and sang ballads beautifully he is In one word “Mr Romance.” The notes just rolled from his tongue like pure silk!. In 1982, John quoted in a US Magazine Homosexuality is a way of life, I’ve grown accustomed to it. The statement was supposed to have been strictly off the record,as he didn’t discuss his sexual orientation. He didn’t for many years after that. Who cares about a celebrities sexuality in the 21st century?. It doesn’t change that person or who they are , all you are interested in is the wonderful human being that is performing onstage in front of you, or his voice that you are listening to on a CD or watching on a DVD. I’m just in love with him every time I hear his beautiful voice. He sings with passion, feelings, expression and effortlessly. God Bless John. An Icon and Legend, loved and respected. ❤️😘🙏🎤🎶🎵 🎸🪕🎺🎷🎻🪈🥁🪘🎹🪗🪇
I’ve been listening to his beautiful voice since I was 12- I’m 72 now. He should be an honoree at The Kennedy Center. It should have happened by now- way overdue!
Why do you always hook people in with lies? Mr. Mathis is living his life on his terms. He is at peace with the past, looking forward to the future, and lives his best in the now.
John Royce Mathis.
I have a 1961 Seeburg AY160 Stereo jukebox. I've owned it since 1980. It plays/holds 80 45 RPM records times two sides that = 160 different tunes. He sings 4 of the 160 songs, Maria, on the other side is Misty. The other record is my favorite, Cole Porter's Begin The Beguine done in disco style by Johnny. The other side is Gone, Gone, Gone. If you want to hear Johnny show Cole Porter how that song should really be "Begun and Ended" look it up here on TH-cam. There is a regular and disco version by Johnny.😀😀😀
I always loved the music of Johnny Mathis. He is a great man, a very talented Artist. I would never pass judgement on his sexuality because that s his private life. I never thought of him as having sad eyes. I think it is wonderful how his father encouraged him in his career and how both of his parents were very supportive of him. He is indeed blessed.
I was a big fan ever since I was just a kid in the early 50s. It was later on that I discovered I could also sing. Johnny Mathis as well as other celebrity vocalists helped influence my style of singing. Thank you Johnny. 😮
He was also a champion sportsman before becoming a singer. So yes he always had the heart of a champion. He just did not have the good looks to make him a romantic icon and lets be honest that was a good part of the fame thing way back when. That voice tho always had a way into the heart.
I just saw johnny’s Christmas show at the Cerritos center for performing arts on December 18th. 2nd row, center! For 89 yrs of age…quite magical…especially the traditional holiday songs… reminded me of being a kid walking into my grandparents house where they would play be playing either Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, and my grandmother‘s favorite Johnny Mathis! It was quite the special night
Speaking of the work Mathis put into his recordings, this review of him by a man who cannot even pronounce his name correctly, is just a sin. Next time please find a person who is atone with the English language, to do justice to the artist who he/she is speaking about.
Not even a person. That which you hear is an AI voice as you can tell by the continued adjusting of his Latin American accent with his more western voice. Again, not a human narrator.
Why is his life sad??? He has had a marvellous career, is healthy, active, and doing what he chooses. Saw him in concert many decades ago and it is still memorable!

A case can be made that Mathis is the greatest singer in the English language.
I was a big fan ever since I was just a kid in the early 50s. It was later on that I discovered I could also sing. Johnny Mathis as well as other celebrity vocalists helped influence my style of singing. Thank you Johnny. 😮
Imho Johnny should receive a Kennedy Center Honor award!
Johnny Mathis is awsome. The AI narration sucks.
It's everywhere bloody awful😡
For me, Johnny Mathis continua sendo um dos maiores interpreter of North American music
He was also a champion sportsman before becoming a singer. So yes he always had the heart of a champion. He just did not have the good looks to make him a romantic icon and lets be honest that was a good part of the fame thing way back when. That voice tho always had a way into the heart.

Loved this as I knew almost nothing about Johnny Mathis
SINCE THIS VEDIO IS ABOUT JOHNNY MATHIS, WHY DID THEY MIX ELVIS PRESLEY IN THE VEDIO...THIS IS UNFAIR. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THE TWO. EACH SINGER HAD HIS OWN

Meu cantor do coração ❤️❤️❤️
Sou brasileira e adoro Jonnhy desde 12 anos. Hoje tenho 69 anos
He also sang the theme song of the 80’s hit tv show FAMILY MATTERS with the equally soulful Denise… #blackbutterfly
The man with the velvet voice.
Mr Mathis was a very very good friend of Mr Bill Russell. 😊
Nothing good comes from getting old. Everything wonderful becomes relegated to the past tense.
Handsome man
I love his voice. Did he ever find romantic love in his life?
I sure hope he did. He is a lovely human being who brings incredible joy to those of us who adore him. I hope he found love with whomever he chose to.
The guy pronounced the name MATHIS 3 different ways, I recommend THE CALL IN SHOW 1996 A&E NETWORK. A perfect concert.
I don't agree with homosexuality. But! Whose damn business is Johnny Mathis sexual orientation? He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. He is beyond beautiful, inside and out.
Je le trouve magnifique
THE TITLE OF THIS VIDEO is very MISLEADING, nothing SAD about how Johnny Mathis live, CLICK BAITING
I have been watching Johnny for many years in the US and England. Will be come back to perform in Naples, Fl.??
I like this except for a couple Things. The AI voice isn't good and why do you have to give it a click bate title. You made me worried about Johnny Mathis.
He life is sad? Nothing about sad here.
click bait
Not sure where sad comes from .
I love you Johnny🙏🙏💕💕
He could have been in 1956 Melbourne Australia Olympics but chose to be singer
The AI voice narration is very annoying, for such an interesting subject
I took my Mom to see him last month, he sounded AMAZING! the man can sing One Fine Man! His life is not sad! AI narration sucks!! Do better!
Yes narration awful I agree . I pray he will receive Kennedy Centers Honors soon . God loves us all and we must accept everyone for the way they are .
Dios lo vendiga tiene una voz unica😢❤
Ride on a rainbow one of my favourite by Johnny
He was the best singer ever to me. But it's time to retire and give it a rest.
PLEASE HAVE THE NARRATORS LEARN HOW TO PRONOUNCE THE NAMES OF THOSE THEY ARE DISCUSSING. iT IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO MISPRONOUNCE ANYONE'S NAME!!
Bad AI!
