Slay the Spire Speedrun: Silent Any% (Glitchless) in

- It's been a while since I've posted a speedrun, and I was in the mood to fix that today. The Silent is lacking for good times on the leaderboards, and is much more interesting to run without Pandora's Box, so here's a decent attempt. Plenty of mistakes; Silent is harder than Ironclad to speedrun!

This run’s final 14-card deck:
1× Corpse Explosion+
2× J.A.X.+
2× Dagger Spray+
1× All-Out Attack+
1× Flying Knee+
1× Quick Slash+
1× Skewer+
1× Strike+
2× Strike
1× Neutralize+
1× Survivor+
This run ended with 2 energy relics, giving 5 energy per turn.
On top of this he had backpack so he drew an extra 3-4 cards per turn i don’t remember which ring he had

JAX is really good on Silent for speedrunning, if you aren't going for poison or Grand Finale. 3 Strength is a huge damage increase with all of the multi-attacks she has.
Maybe using le smoke potion for the last ennemies to save a little time. But the run is just amazing!
Double jax with Choker lol, I really didn't think choker would work with Silent even when speedrunning. I was surprised

Seeing as it appears in the run - What's the speedrunning stance on A Note For Yourself? It's technically a part of the game but I'd assume spending hours setting up and fishing for a preloaded Searing Blow +12 or something of the sort ruins the fun.
Currently, the event is banned in the speedrunning community. You must choose to leave instead of trading cards. Being able to get Searing Blow+12 on floor 2 in any class would ruin everything, in my opinion.
why didn't you use smoke bomb the stage before boss? it would have shorten 5ish more seconds. great run nonetheless!

Are StS speedruns typically run on custom seeds, or do you use random seeds and fish for good RNG?
I think those are two different categories.
@Matt Blackie As Jimmy Wang says, seeded speedruns are a special category, and are rarely done for this game. Generally, a speedrun is done on a randomly generated seed, as is done in this video.

@@XGreenhoot yeah i just knew about pandora's box but i thought they patched it a long time ago , i guess people can use older builds of the game though .

How come you're using mouse and not number buttons for quick use of cards?
Surely it would save a significant amount of time?
You're not taking into account the time it takes to look at the number needed which is aligned with the card and the time to press the correct key.
Is there any reason you never submitted this to the leaderboard?
This actually is on the Any% leaderboard, just not the new glitchless one yet.
Is there a reason people don't just use the in-game timer for StS speedruns?
The in-game timer is less accurate and doesn't account for things like saving and quitting.

I just started playing this game a week ago or so. What I don't understand is that all the enemies only have 1hp?!? I always get enemies with MUCH more health. Is it a bug or hack or mod?!?
When you start the game the blue whale offers you gifts . one of them is ( Mobs in the next three fights you encounter have only 1 hp ) . thats why

@@sander_bouwhuis Its more of a gift than an upgrade. don't take it unless you can guarantee the path would lead to 1 elite with 1 hp , like the video above .

Why drink that potion in the slime bossfight?
to make space for the new potions they wanted to get in act 2 i think
probs mistake as well when you play fast
@rafaellerescapone is right. I wanted it out of my inventory, and that seemed like the best time to use it in the fight between turns.

Glitchless? At 1:38 you think speed pot giving strength isn't a glitch?
look at the dmg the cards do (strike -6, quick -12), prompts and the hp the boss loses and you can clearly see that's just a graphical bug that he gets 5str
That's not a strength buff, that's the debuff image showing how much str or dex you're going to lose at the end of the turn, due to speed or steroid pots, or cards such as flex.
but attack was not affected by that 5 str. It was probably a game error.
That's a debuff which removes 5 dex at the end of turn. Did you actually play this game? lol
The strength buff is a red sword.

Amazing run! Good job! The only problem I see is that you drag cards with your mouse instead of using hotkeys. It slows you down by a decent amount. Consider starting to play with hotkeys.
It was interesting watching this run again after a few years to see what I was doing with hotkeys back then. I think that, as is usual for me, the main time loss is thinking about what to play, not dragging cards. I actually used hotkeys in this run quite a lot, especially in the early game. However, as I started to spend time thinking about card plays, I switched more to dragging cards. If I could eliminate that thinking, it would save a ton of time. But I've generally had trouble as a speedrunner eliminating thinking time from my Slay the Spire runs.
Interestingly, using hotkeys by itself saves relatively little time. The most time save usually comes from the first card play, where it is difficult to play it as quickly as possible using dragging. In seeded runs, it can even be impossible to play cards optimally without hotkeys or controller if they aren't the first couple drawn each turn. However, after that first card play, you can fairly easily queue cards using clicking and dragging without losing any additional time. Overall, hotkeys probably save top runners up to a handful of seconds, which absolutely can matter. Controller use tends to save much more time, which is something we figured out the full potential of much later than hotkeys.

I'm currently also in the mids of ascension, around a12 with all my characters,biggest advice I can give you is don't force an archetype, let the game decide for you and always make sure you have enough defence and draw, relics are super important to, try to have at least 4 relics going in floor 2
