CHARLES YOU FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT THE MAGIC EYE DIMMER SWITCH ON TOP OF THE DASH BOARD..........LOVE YOUR SHOWS. MY SECOND CAR WAS AN OLDS SUPER 88 I WISH I STILL HAD IT.
This Oldsmobile 98 is true Americana!!! I love the two tone paint & that interior is gorgeous AND it has power windows!!! My aunt Irene had one of these back in the day & would have loved this one!! Thanks Charles for a look back in time 🙂
Another incredible presentation! Charles, you are spoiling us! As an 8-year-old boy in 1956, I remember a neighbor bringing this Olds home. I was awestruck. Luckily, my father drove up our drive with an even more stunning car...a '56 DeSoto Firedome V-8 Seville. Yes, a Hemi... and 6 amazing tailights!
My father owned one that he bought in the far Southside of Chicago. He bought it at el Martinos oldsmobile. He later on bought a '72 Caddy coupe deville from Dred Williamson Cadillac. When I was little I sat on that little seat (arm rest) olive green car with white top 472 motor. Boy I miss my Dad, worked in the steel mill called Valley Mould 4 30 years to take care of us. 😪 his other car was a '62 olds starfire l, they sold him a lemon
Thank you Charles! I can't start my Friday without going for a Joyride with you! Beautiful car and the awesome narration makes it more exciting! Congratulations to Mike!🌎
What Beautious Oldsmobility indeed, well done Charles, another Triumph of motoring mastery, great presentation as always, Well done buddy! Have to mention the two raised ‘Contrails’ from the wingtips of the jet fighter on the bonnet (or should I say ‘hood’), amazing ‘50’s styling....... and you gotta love the beautiful ‘pebble’ cloth on the interior. I Love your presentations of all the fabulous styling features!!!
I had '56 Olds 98 Holiday in high school. Had factory a/c full power and a floor mounted switch to change the radio station, what a neat car, wish I would've kept it.
my grandpa had a '56 Olds Super 88 Holiday 2door, back in the early 60's, and I remember sitting in the front seat mesmerized by the oval shaped clock and the chrome concentric rings emanating out from it, like waves of water. the whole dashboard was the most fascinating thing to my star-struck 5 year old mind. such style back then, and real chrome.
Oldsmobilty (I agree!) Back when craftsmanship + pride in attention to detail was KING! As a kid, I'd got auto salvage yards to collect wheel covers & ornaments. It took me 4 ever to remove one of those jets off an Oldsmobile, only to be told (You can't have that one son, it's to valuable!) LOL! This was in the late 1970's. I did wind up with some nice stuff though.
Hey Charles. Another awesome video. Beautiful looking car. I love the colours. I hope everything is well in Los Angeles. Everything on this car exudes style. 🙂
'56 Olds is one of several cars from 1956 that I have always admired. It was a great year for American cars: AMC Rebel V8, all the Chrysler products, the Imperial, New Yorker and 300. Mercury and Ford Victoria were great. Of course, the Continental Mark II; the '56 Lincoln really hit the sweet spot between '55 and '57 (too long!) I do love to reminisce about the 50's and 60's cars! Thanks again.
Grew up with a '56 Rocket 88 Holiday Sedan (4 dr hardtop, like this) in light blue/dark blue two tone. The original upholstery fabric wore out after two years. The 88 had crank windows. Same dash, but without the signal seeking radio or light sensor for the auto dim high beams. Ours also didn't have the back up lights, so there were metal dishes where those would go.
Man, those HORNS! Why is everything today so boring, comparatively?! Amazing clock. Amazing hood ornament. Amazing steering wheel center that matches the lower hood emblem, wow! Just fantastic detailing throughout. That pebble cloth is just so great! What a wonderful vehicle.
my Granddad had a 55, same colors, what I remember as a kid in the summer he drove us to Atlantic City, he always wore a straw hat one of those jazzy postmodern kind and a Cuban shirt, quite a dapper guy in his Olds
A great Joyride choice...one of GM’s best mid-‘50s sedans, especially with the 4 dr hardtop feature. This 98 would’ve been found in only “the better neighborhoods” in the golden haze that was 1950s’ Americana.
these 56 Olds 98s are just beautiful, always liked them since I was a kid. A guy down the street had a yellow and white 4dr , as much as I love them, I would have bought a Buick, I really love Buicks
My first car was an Oldsmobile 88 automatic. It was in 1989, I was 22 yo. I was so happy. I remember firing order 18736542 I never forget it. Stick says N Dr Dual S L R ,in R wheels get locked as a Park selector.
And those aren't Chemtrails coming off those wing pods on the hood ornament! Those are STAMPED IN honest-to-goodness decompression CONTRAILS! How much did those use to inspire our eyes SKYWARD! Up, up and AWAY!
The "Starfire" moniker was exclusive to the 98 convertible from1954 thru 1956. It was spelled out on the front fender where "Holiday" is on this model. I am lucky enough to own a 56 Starfire.
Had,a 1956,98,394,with a quad, 4 barrel carb!Power windows, seats, wonder bar radio, with button control on the floor!Color, coral over coral!Chrome all over and inside!!!I owned it in 1967,sold it to my cousins husband before I went to Viet Nam!Should of kept it!!!
Hey, that's my old friend Mike H. Last time I saw him he had an immaculate 1960 Buick Invicta, in white, named "Vicky". I haven't seen Mike for 25 years.
My grandmother drove a '56 Olds. Even as a little kid I thought it was a great car. Unfortunately, she totalled it in the fall of 1962 😭 and I still remember the crumpled remains sitting in her driveway.
1:23 Ive been to the Petersen museum! I wish the Jonny's place was still open (maybe as a Bob's Big Boy or Starbucks idk) also why can't cars have blue/red carpeting like this one? It'd be hella lit ✨✋😔👌✨
What a shame the Oldsmobile brand is gone forever. The same can be said for DeSoto, Plymouth, Pontiac, and soon Chrysler, the latter at the hands of a foreign entity.
Appearance is a matter of taste. But in technical-mechanical aspect, the Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillac cars were far superior to the Chevrolet. Especially the car in this video is very fully equipped. It even has an autronic eye, a device that lowers the lights at night when a vehicle came from the opposite direction. My father had a 1952-98, a 1955-98, and a 1962-98. Ford or Chevrolet cars had nothing to do against an Olds in acceleration, in maximum speed, in general equipment. Buick and Cadillac cars were even better. I never understood why GM phased out the Oldsmobile brand in the late 1990s.
Looks WAAAAAY better than today's cars!
Charles, we love your charisma! You are a genuine, mid-century marvel of manly magnificence! I know!
Wow!! What a beautiful car, I want one, perfect 50s cruiser!!😎👍
TOTALLY AWESOME VIDEO!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! YOU MADE MY NIGHT!!!
CHARLES YOU FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT THE MAGIC EYE DIMMER SWITCH ON TOP OF THE DASH BOARD..........LOVE YOUR SHOWS. MY SECOND CAR WAS AN OLDS SUPER 88 I WISH I STILL HAD IT.
It's beautiful Charles. The pebble interior is such a prize. Who else but Olds could pull that off. Amazing car. Thanks for showing it off.
Beautiful automobile, the clock reminds the Time Tunnel TV series, Its all about design.
Those 54 to 57 olds were straight up awesome. We had a 54 55 and 57 olds, when I was a kid. I thought these cars were totally unique looking cars.
This Oldsmobile 98 is true Americana!!! I love the two tone paint & that interior is gorgeous AND it has power windows!!! My aunt Irene had one of these back in the day & would have loved this one!! Thanks Charles for a look back in time 🙂

Manoman - lookin good - we had our rockets, yes we did.
My dad had one in México City from 1961-1963. Best car he ever owned!
One of your best episode. You seemed at the high end of your talent. 😀❤️😀❤️
My father owned one that he bought in the far Southside of Chicago. He bought it at el Martinos oldsmobile. He later on bought a '72 Caddy coupe deville from Dred Williamson Cadillac. Gorgeous, indeed! and that chassis! (his car's pretty sweet, too..;)
In a time when 4 doors weren't particularly attractive, this is beauty!
We love the 4 door hardtops.
Thank you Charles! I can't start my Friday without going for a Joyride with you! Beautiful car and the awesome narration makes it more exciting! Congratulations to Mike!🌎

I noticed that amazing styling cue also. Only detected from Charles' practice of auto body scan mindfulness.
I definitely remember sitting on rear armrest as a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s. It was the only way to enjoy the sites during family road trips.
BEHOLD THE GLORY , Charles!!!! ....INDEED!
I had '56 Olds 98 Holiday in high school. Had factory a/c full power and a floor mounted switch to change the radio station, what a neat car, wish I would've kept it.
I would like to see one of these in person once again. I haven't seen one of these since I was a kid!

All of that and looking at that rocket at the end of the hood. Very impressive for a teen.

Great car. I owned one in the early 70s and I really enjoyed it. It was luxurious and powerful.
Absolutely gorgeous car!!! Such beautiful detail and lines. Another great video!!!
Hey Charles. Another awesome video. Beautiful looking car. I love the colours. I hope everything is well in Los Angeles. Everything on this car exudes style. 🙂
You make the cars sound so exciting and a beauty to see!
I miss Oldsmobile! They were great cars!
My Ninety-Eight is forty years newer, but is still a a joy to drive and - behold! - and has that wonderful Oldsmobile spirit! Thank you, Charles.

Oldsmobile is awesome I personally like the 57 more but this is perfect 👌
I like them all, but my favourite would be the 58's and I wasn't even born until 1966 and STILL love 'm.
Aaron Williams wow my dad was born in 63 you see I’m only 13
Styles come back all the time I’m still waiting for cars to be painted in two tone Turquoise and White.
Never again, liberals hate that

I had two 1959 Oldsmobiles a 98 and SUPER 88. They were the best, fast, safe and I could get 25 mph with their 4 speed hydramatic transmissions
Love those 98’s.
Owned several Olds, all 98’s except 1.
my Granddad had a 55, same colors, what I remember as a kid in the summer he drove us to Atlantic City, he always wore a straw hat one of those jazzy postmodern kind and a Cuban shirt, quite a dapper guy in his Olds
Fashion inspiration!
Love your joyrides, Charles!
1956 the year many cars had put the glove box in the center of the dash, and Olds did the oval styling. My favorite Olds are the 1958 though.
Beautiful car

What a car. Uncle Frank had one. I always wanted to sit in it. Aunt Lucy didn't like that 😂
The exhaust molded into hood from jet hood orn......so awsome
My grandpa had one of those bought it from tunmore Oldsmobile in Buffalo New York

Parents Had 2 of The 56S when I was Growing Up. ❤ Them 😊
I'm absolutely TRIGGERED every time you say OHH-ZZZ-MOBILE. Stooooooop.
A googie coffee shop from 1955! Cool. I wanna malt.
Amazing!!!!

Lower door panel trim. Ribbed! FOR YOUR PLEASURE!

Stunning. Love the period correct yellow plate. Maybe nit picking but owner should get clock running, there are people that can fix them.
clocks in classic cars RARELY work btw ... jus sayin
Point is they can be fixed and work just fine. It’s not like they came from the factory not working.

Way Nice ! Thumbs Up Liked.
Oldsmobiles were made in Lansing Michigan
What memories! My first car was a '56 Holiday 88. I still miss that car. I bought it in April of '67 for $225.

@@charlesphoenixjoyride4805 I know, I know...😉
Another great mid cen car . Another great video...
THANK YOU!
Amazing car
Love the Olds......... 👍😉🙂
It's interesting that the rear window although similar is not the same as the Cadillac's or Buick Roadmaster's rear windows.
Just a beautiful car. Truely "my father's Oldsmobile."
Did you notice how the tail light lenses say Oldsmobile on them?
1:23 Ive been to the Petersen museum! I wish the Jonny's place was still open (maybe as a Bob's Big Boy or Starbucks idk)
also why can't cars have blue/red carpeting like this one? It'd be hella lit ✨✋😔👌✨
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BECOME A METRO STATION ...

Love the cars can’t stand his narration. That voice…..no.
