We bought a M5 in Gibraltar in 1988. Drove it all over Europe for over 200,000 miles. Lots of 100+ MPH trips on the motorways. My girlfriend’s brother totaled it on the Elisabeth bridge. He claimed the brakes were “wrong” when he locked it up on black ice. Later it came out that the only other car he had ever driven was a Trabant.
Wait, it didnt have ABS? Or was it optional? By Elisabeth bridge, you meant the one in Budapest? Cause then it would make sense how your girlfriends brother had only ever driven a Trabant
Really enjoying the last few A&C shows. Thanks for giving us this unexpected look at new shows with Jay and Donald. Keep them coming. A+ in every way....
i love Jays wit. His acerbic but loving response "Of Course, why be correct when you can be incorrect!". LOL. Jay is amazing. Mr. Osbourne is a heck of a guy too. He matches wits with Mr. Leno quite well.
Donald is as well...BOTH of these gentlemen are the perfect stewards of these cars. The fact that they share their passion and knowledge with us is a blessing. We are truly fortunate.
I really do enjoy these segments... two very different people who both love automobiles while seeing them from slightly different perspectives. Also, two old friends who good-naturedly rib each other a bit, and two gentlemen who know a lot about automobiles and can converse amicably about them. I hope they continue to bring us content such as this.
Jay and Donald are exceptional on their own, but together, they are truly outstanding. Each brings a wealth of automotive knowledge and expertise. Gentlemen, thank you for sharing. 😇❤️
I love how Donald mentions that Alfa Romeo was the first one to bring the sports sedan in the 50s, I love my 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano! I like when Jay and Donald get together. Great video as always!
Jay’s comment about new car height reminds me of what I told the Mrs recently. With the big wheels and two box SUV styles we are all driving 1930 Model A’s again!
I had never heard of Donald Osborne until I started watching these videos. The knowledge of these two men is simply extraordinary and the fluency with which it comes over makes it absorbing.

I was watching an old covid clip. It was the big car with the wheel on the truck. Can't remember, but it doesn't matter. What mattered to me was how you spoke of your family and the Sundays you spent with them. I, too, was that guy. You helped me remember the past in a good way. You reminded me of good times and especially how to describe a big car. A big, friendly elephant. I hope to be like you if I get to your age. I'm only 43, but that doesn't matter. It's just a number. My first time seeing a 500e, I was working in a low paid factory waiting for a bus. Knew exactly what I was looking at. The plate kind of gave it away, my work mates had no idea why I got excited and probably thought I was even more strange than before. Now I've got a cool car collection and got lucky with a well paid job. Past days..... crazy.
To correct you both, the 300 SEL 6,3 came out in 1967 and was the first of the factory sports sedans, and it was a W109, long wheel base and air suspension chassies car. The 300 SEL 3,5 was next in 1969, 280 SE/L 3,5 in 1970 and the 300 SEL 4,5 together with the 280 SE/L 4,5 in 1971. They were all replaced with the W116 chassies cars in 1973 except for the US where the 108/109 was sold another model year, as 1973 year cars. The next beast of a sedan came mid 1975 when the W116, 450 SEL 6,9 was introduced.
Thanks Jay❤️ This was when beemers and mercs were great cars. I was the same with my picks in appreciation, thought it would have been Beemer, Merc, Ferrari. That 500 though is just class
