I’ve been following you for years. I totally disagree with that comment. I am 34. Like you, years ago when I initially started following you, I was also into the lux life and shopping heavily overall. It was amazing and served its purpose at that time. Now, I’m in a different phase in life. I now have 2 kids, and I’d just rather save or spend my money on different things in life now, and that is totally OKAY. You’re just making videos about yourself and where you currently are in life. I don’t believe you are chastising anyone for shopping too much. You’re just giving your current take on things. I just think some people feel triggered when it comes to finances, but that’s not your fault. We’ve all been there. Just guilty projection. Keep doing you, keep making these videos. They are absolutely amazing!

I think we all are brainwashed to always keep consuming stuff by the big machinery.. But opening the eyes and start being a more smart consumer is a big win 💪🏻. I still love Lux and far from being minimalist but I’m tired of these brands all over the places with insane prices… many times just overpriced garbage, borderline mocking on their customers 🤦🏻♀️.
I appreciate any TH-cam creator that is authentic, honest, and embrace changes ❤❤❤💪🏻💪🏻.
As you grow older- your tastes and style changes- as well as your goals- this is a natural progression- as you save money you will appreciate quality not quantity
This is growth. Everyone is on a different time in their life......your path is changing. Embracing it maturity. I'm loving it!
Your channel is doing just fine. After all its a bit boring and obnoxious to constantly shop designer bags clothes etc. Keep up the good work.
I really resonate with this. I’m 31 and I’m now realizing the benefits of a (semi) minimalist lifestyle. I do still love luxury items, but I also recently got a house so now my focus is on that. I’ve gotten more interested in using the money I would have put towards a new bag into saving/investing and making smarter financial decisions. Looking forward to more videos :)

You and I are on the same journey. I’ve done a lot of growing the past 10 years and your priorities and wants change. I fully support you and this new path you’re on.
As you go through life your priorities change. It’s just a fact of life. I was very consumeristic in my 20s too. I was young, had a good job and no other priorities on my budget. But, like you, that all changed in my 30s. I bought a house, my job became more demanding and my priorities were different. I am now going to turn 60 in a few months and life has changed dramatically again. A small part of that is that I can go back to buying the occasional luxury item when something comes my way and I am really enjoying that because there was no money for anything non essential for about 15 years while I was paying my mortgage off.
It will be really interesting to see how you progress from here. Good luck with your journey.
Clutter can help creatively. It's all about where your destination is. There's no point having expensive things if you rarely use them.
A lot of the time we're buying a fantasy life that we never actually get to live. Good for you with the honesty!
I have stuff that I bought cheaply and fix up and style in my own way, not so much influenced by advertising and trends. This can take a long time, then suddenly you see the solution to put this with this or alter that, it's my idea of fun...
But of course we all have a sense of the bigger picture. We're heading for economic and environmental crisis and the high consumption lifestyle makes no sense and never did.

I was surprised that my views and thoughts completely changed on not just fashion but many other things… not that I now dislike fashion, as I always will love it, I just give more thoughts to my desires and purchases now. Aging makes you realize there is more to life then just fashion…. The old saying of getting older is a virtu is indeed true 🥰💕

You are on the right path, love. Don’t let people take you off your course to greatness. When you are rising higher, forces will try to stop you. Just keep staying true to your gut and brushing negative comments off your shoulder. There is so much to talk about in fashion than buying stuff.

I love the idea of going from a shopaholic (me) to going minimal and conscious shopping, not bare bones like a lot of people. I got rid of most of my luxury goods, I kept a few classic pieces of LV for the quality, I also kept off brand luxury bags that I couldn’t get money for and I’ll wear them to death to get my price per use from them. I downsized to a studio and I couldn’t be happier, you should check out thrift stores, I love them, I can pick things up second hand I need and not chase trends. My apartment is more classically designed now with vintage hand spun pottery and other treasures from thrifting instead of Target crap.

I find shopping nowadays to be very stressful. People seem to be consuming more to fit in with a certain status, rather than based on their preferences and lifestyle.

Why so extreme?

What rubbed me the wrong way is that I don’t believe you have never gone into debt over a bag. You live in NY and you’re a single mother. It’s giving Carrie Bradshaw and her shoe collection.
And I feel like you, like many others, are always preoccupied in stating that “I didn’t go into debt over a bag” so clear in videos like these. It feels so “holier than thou”, or like a justification for your consumerism.
No one who addresses their shopping habits or transitions into minimalism ever admits that they went into debt over a bag. I believe some creators more than others. It’s just B.S because there’s nothing wrong with it if you actually have a steady income. It’s not your money. High tier bags are only going up in price as time goes by.
I haven’t regretted any of my purchases, I only buy LV, Chanel, and Hermes. Recently bought an Akris. I made smart decisions on classic pieces from the jump. Yes I made payments. No one can make me feel ashamed of that.

Sorry to disappoint you but i 100% never went into any debt due to shopping or luxury. If this was the case, it would make for great content so i definitely wouldn’t hide it you can believe that!
