@@appleslover People will turn to extremes if the more moderate parties don't heed their concerns of borders, culture, economics, etc. Democracy is having a clear choice, and if moderate parties are too similar, that is not democracy, and extreme parties do well. They don't want to turn to extreme parties, but might have to for one single issue. The problem is extreme parties are extreme in other areas too. The rise of the far right and left has happened because of a lack of action from moderate parties, which is not democratic. In a true democracy, there would be no need for extreme parties

I am 48 years old as I write this in the year of 2021.The war in the North East of Ireland was already fully established and being fiercly fought, by "both” sides for several years before the day I was born.It was a long, drawn out and a protracted affair lasting just over 30 years. Every single day of those terrible 30 years, the "spin doctors” relentlessly, morning, noon and night spouted, to the very best of their ability, "this is no war”.” the Irish are just terrorists” All the wile, giving medals of honour to their heroic fallen soldiers for their actions on the battle field. Only when a few "free thinkers” within the British halls of power stood back and paused to think, Ya know, ever since we invaded this country (Ireland) the locals have never stoped fighting us. Maybe, they will never stop fighting us? We have been shooting them dead for more than 30 years now and yet they still find the urge to shoot us back? Maybe, just maybe, we should take another look at our foreign policy when it comes to Ireland? And as history was written, the peace process began. The British War and Death Machine was not beaten on the battlefield, but they did lay down their arms and returned to their native land, where they and ALL standing armies truly belong, only in their native land and let the natives of other lands live in peace. (google or TH-cam "Bobby Sands, The Rhythm of Time for an eye opening insight into the mind of a young "free thinking" Irish man) Our revenge, will be the laughter of our children.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ALWAYS, and I mean always, be aware of the propaganda, truth fcuking machine that is lurking behind every media report, no matter the topic, it is surely there. And remember, One Mans Terrorist Is Another Mans Freedom Fighter.

Grandmother of the nation can only apply to one grand old lady who died 22 years ago now and that of course was Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and i think at the time of this interview the mother of nation would of gone to Her Majesty The Queen ( Elizabeth the second). Perhaps Thatcher title would of been better as second or even step mother of the nation as a prime minister will always leave office at some point, where as the monanch never leaves office until death (in this country). I was born in August 1990 so only 3 months of my life she was prime minister, on the whole from my studies and books and what i read and course the Falklands War, MT - Margaret Thatcher was one of the greatest Prime Ministers we have had in this country up there with Churchill, Gladstone, duke of wellington etc etc, also I am tory who vote for tory so im bound so say that, however i wasn't really around in thatchers time others may well totally disagree with me who were.

If there is ever a united Ireland, it will mean every single citizen in the Republic paying an extra 10% tax for the upkeep of Northern Ireland - look up what it costs the UK Exchequer to upkeep Northern Ireland. Do you really think that citizens in Northern Ireland who have access to universal free healthcare on NHS are going to blithely give it up for a united Ireland?
You can be guaranteed that no Sinn Fein TD will ever tell you how much a united Ireland will cost. Of course if you are on welfare it's a non issue because it won't affect you and it's someone else's problem.
And you can't bomb, murder, intimidate and force your way to a united Ireland.

Pablo Frank exactly, and what about the huge EU financial aid package that is aimed for Ireland? What about the bilateral loan England gave them? What about all of their IRA terrorists who the shameful traitor Blair pardoned while putting his own army in jail? Northern Ireland is one the whole loyal to England, it’s the Republic that is the problem.

@@AnimatedBlast let me get something straight... You think the NORTH is loyal? Alot of the north wants to Unite with the Republic? Where is the logic in INVADING another country forcefully imposing laws on our people meaning we could not SPEAK our native language, OWN the land which BELONGS TO US, Last I checked to inspire loyalty you dont try take away the IDENTITY of an entire culture. Funny how the mighty United kingdom couldn't enforce loyalty in a country which ye have NO claim to at all. Maybe look at the votes of the north who would like to see a united Ireland... Might surprise you that it is closer then you think

The IRA have collectively served hundreds of years in the Maze prison. You can't even count on your hand how many years BRITISH WAR CRIMINALS have served. Of course you'd whitewash what they were as just the "army" though.

Well the Irish government could be asked the same question. What has it done for its people? only sell them out to the EU. Irish are sneaks and are doubled standard. They would eat their own to save their necks. Britain did a lot of good for Ireland. The Irish eat bread that is soon forgotten. The Irish treated mother and babies scandalously and continue to cover up their own atrocity of religious, state and family sexual abuse. They dont self congratulate on those issues as much as they do with their superficial achievements in sport and entertainment. It quite sickening to see and experience how they applaud themselves whilst treating vulnerable people with comtempt.

I would greatly disagree with you. I'm sure she disagreed with things at times, but the proof of her hating Mrs. Thatcher just isn't there. If she despised her, she wouldn't have:
      1. Given her the Order of Merit
      2. Made her the first non-royal Lady Companion of the Garter.
      3. Attend both her 70th & 80th birthday parties.
      4. Attended her funeral, only the 2nd prime minister's she attended after Churchill. There are reports that the Queen offered her a full state funeral with lying in state like Churchill, but Mrs. Thatcher declined because she didn't think she should be placed on the same level as Churchill.
