It gets easier as you get older. When I was young, we were raised to believe having a big home, new car, designer clothes and expensive vacations was proof of your career success. I did all that, and it was just stressful. After I turned 50, I sold everything, became debt-free and now live a frugal life. I've never been happier or more fulfilled. I can afford many things, I just don't crave them anymore.
Social tensions and avoiding judgement is a HUGE reason for me. I’m a younger millennial, and many of my peers are struggling to make ends meet. My husband and I happened to get really lucky multiple times, and our wealth has grown while others struggle. I wish all our friends the same blessings (and then some), but in the meantime, we just stay quiet and lend an ear when they need one.
I’m so tired of the constant over consumption, instant gratification, look what I have mentality. I’ve never told people what I have and you’ll find me pretty much living under the radar.
I didn’t know this was what it was called. I’ve been practicing this for a while now, ever since I had a health crisis and almost lost my home. Now I live quietly, save a lot of money, and I am much happier for it.
True happiness is a house full of yarn and homemade bread I baked last night in my cast iron bread pan, although my arms are feeling it today after all that kneading lol
My parents have commented on my house’s size multiple times. Their house is two and a half times bigger than mine, and all my mom does all day and night is clean, clean, clean. No thank you! 😂
Happy New Year! When I see a huge house with all the trimmings my first thought is..do they really have lots of money or do they have charges through the roof?
Or…do they shop at Goodwill or the Salvation Army?!😆 I appreciate quality, and I have a good eye for it! I can make secondhand items LOOK LIKE A MILLION BUCKS!
I've already been living as if I was retired....ever since I lost my Job back in 2007 I've been living a free life and I'm loving it all the way to the bank....😊😊😊😅😅😅
Growing up poor, I had multiple friends who were “showing off” get mugged or burglarized. Ever since then I stopped showing off. No one would ever guess that I live comfortably.
I don't think I'm like other people. I brag about how cheap I got something or a bargain or a cheap low price break or suitcase. I'm like look at me I got really cheap..😮

Even if I won the lottery, I'd stay quiet about it. Live very modestly. No need to show off things I have.
Mostly for safety issues.
Happy New Year.

Seeing all of these horrible natural disasters and inflation and Covid, has just made me appreciate a more modest lifestyle.
I am embracing quiet abundance! It’s a wise choice.
I'm feelin' this video as a GenXer. Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Amen I like a simple life, now I need to get my husband to stop keeping up with the Jones 😮😲 Thanks for sharing 🤗♥️
What a good message for all. Your finances are your business and yours alone. Thanks for this reminder…
Great points you make about quiet abundance.
I'm already practicing quiet abundance. I am working towards being more of a minimalist as well. Thank you for this video.❤❤
I’ve lived below my means most of my life. I found early on that money worries were just too stressful. The peaceful life is for me.

When I see a big house I think how long it takes to clean
We have the same exact thoughts on that❤😂
Me too!

Me too! Also how much does it cost to heat and AC?
In my country (Denmark) flashing wealth is considered bragging and poor taste. Money is rarely talked about even with close friends.😊
Happy New Year! 🎉😊 Your videos are great. I love the idea of quiet abundance.
this video was a breath of fresh air! I literally took notes!

Sometimes I’ll tell my neighbors I found something on the curb and they’ll look mortified. Their loss 😂
