Wahoooo! Congratulations on your new book! It sounds awesome. Great book list too! I really loved the Psychology of Money. It was life changing for me. Thank you!! 😁👍🏼
The audio of Daisy Jones and the Six was fantastic. So much easier to follow and understand what is happening than trying to read it. Love your channel.
Sara, this was probably my most favorite video of yours. Well done! I loved Lessons in Chemistry ❤, I loved the Nightingale ❤. Read The Great Alone! I put all the books on a list at my library. Thanks and good luck with your book, xoxo Jeannie
I read the women by Kristin Hannah and the four winds both great. Remarkably bright creatures, anxious people and my grandmother asked me to tell you she's sorry. I also liked the happy life of Isadora Bentley! I can't wait to read some of your suggestions!
My knitting group is recommending The Women by Kristin Hannah. It is historical fiction about Army nurses deployed to Viet Nam. I am on the eReader waiting list at my library. The financial book(s) that changed my view on frugality is The Tightwaad Gazette by Amy Dacyzyn (rhymes with decision). Originally Amy published as a newsletter, the as a 3 volume series, and finally as a single print volume. While her pre-internet numbers for dollars reflect that time, right now 90% of her suggestions are still valid. The 10% are mostly related to communications technology improvements lowering costs from paying for landlines long distance calls by the minute. I still refer to her universal recipes and spice blends (especially taco seasonsing) and have follow her shoe buying plan for at least 25 years now. Well worth a Sarah Conklin podcast review! Do you or your mom have any good reads for those of us who are already retired? Finally, my local family has a post-Epiphany party where we do a book swap of books we have read and enjoyed, much like a classic White Elephant gift swap game. Everyone leaves with a new read one of us recommends reading. 😊
I actually have an OLD video on The Tightwad Gazette! I have the collected hardcover addition of that and still use her casserole recipe formula to this day! The Women is definitely on my reading list, too. Are you looking for money books on post-retirement?
@saraconklinfrozenpennies Absolutely yes to money books on retirement! I began pursuing "voluntary simplicity" in the '90's. I still value the shared values up lift I get from younger women like you (although I have a hunch our age difference would have made me just old enough to be your baby sitter), but there is very little out there on frugality in retirement. I am happy to say for my husband and I in our late sixties that with our three fixed income streams--SS for both and a United Methodist retired clergy non-taxable housing stream for myself-- that we can meet all our fixed and variable expenses without using savings from his corporate savings/investments. We still have income producing side gigs too. Enough?
Congratulations on the book!! I can’t decide if I should wait till comes to audio that I have or just buy it because I’m so inspired to take charge this year of my money. Thanks for the recommendations! 😊
Congrats on the book!!! Recent reads: Gentle Art of Death Cleaning, The Swedish Art of Aging Exuberantly, ADHD is Awesome. And one I wouldn't recommend at all--Leave the World Behind, one of the worst books I've read in ages. Plot was good but the writing left a lot to be desired! Have you read any of The Housemaid series by Freida McFadden? If not, I highly recommend it.
Thats a tough spot to be in. I think its possible but I think you either have to make more money or spend less money to make it happen. Thanks so much for watching!!
I think you missed something in your statement. You forgot to say "...yet." Where you are right now, it might not be possible. So, what you need to do is find a path to change your situation. It might take time and some really hard work, but you can make changes to get you where you want to go if you really want to change.
These are great books, thank you.
Also, congrats on publishing your own.
Very cool.
Thanks so much! And thanks for watching!
