If I played keys, I'd love thisl...I play bass. I would love to see a keyboard/piano vid that tells the keyboard player to sit on his/her left hand....thats the bass turf. You can only have one lowest instrument in a mix, or else you have mud. You did a great job on this.... like I said, if I were a keyboard player, I'd love it.
A lot of people need to hear this. I have a friend that loves piano with layers, but always wants a brassy sound or orchestral strings. They are a little to punchy for the music style that they play. This video is very useful and needed. Thanks David!!
Inversions that are close to the root - then 1 3 5 root position chords for lifting and pre-chorus. As a guitarist learning my GR55 guitar synth this is a great lesson. Thank you for the tips, David.
I liked your video. There is another way to make full sound on keyboard but takes practice. Learn to play four notes in right hand and learn to play octaves in left (legato with 4th or 5th finger [3rd optional] ) .This is for regular playing on keyboard and for pads. Since this is more sound, I turn down volume. This is only when full pad is needed, otherwise everything you just said is right. Thank you for your video. PS: Example, Resurrection Song - synth-pad with choir, in the interlude.
Hello! You mentioned that it sustains as long as it is held but is it possible to sustain a single chord all throughout a song while playing certain notes/ chords? For example, I am playing in key of D, I just want to sustain the chord D using a string, on top of that while playing a certain chord progression.
We use Gaff Tape, we would highly recommend not buying the cheap gaff tape either as it will probably leave residue on your cables, we like this one: amzn.to/3OO4XMy (affiliate link)
For a pad I can't think of any scenario where you would actually need 88 keys. You're generally playing mid range for pads. Everything else, frequency wise, should be covered by the rest of the band. 61 should be enough, imho.

oh yeah, as a musician I'm not into the worship thing... it's like putting on concerts and creating sentimental feelings... which a lot of people like - it's similar to listening to music for entertainment.... A friend of mine was in a Christian band and often was telling how good the "gig" was (in church) and how excited the people were - ITS A CONCERT - NOT A MASS! It may be due to a different cultural background, but for me praying doesn't need special moods, and certainly not pop music, no matter what lyrics they might have: I would basically leave the church immediately if pop songs were played. I don´t want to be entertained, I want to pray with the others. Deep thinking, trying to understand... back home, I could turn the radio on... (which I don´t!) Then rather old church songs (which are so beautiful by the way, many of them unknown in the worship scene) sung a cappella by the congregation or with choirs /organ - much better to focus on God - HE is the one who should be the focus, not MY mood.... It doesn't matter how sentimentally excited I am. So no guitars, basses, drums needed - all that just distracts from the essentials. I attended old masses which at some times had no singing or music at all, just silent adoration - no less uplifting ....

sweet...how can i get a good soft pad.... and copy it to my keyboard sx900
can the voice b downloaded
That info should be in your keyboard manual - importing file, or dialing in a pad sound
How can i do that in Piano Organs ?
awesome
do you need a full 88 key keyboard? or will 61key be good enough?

A 61-keys keyboard is fine. Even 49 would be enough for pads like in this video.
