Hello Jim, I barely stepped into my 20's tho I' ve been following your channel for years now. The money has been an issue for me since forever, ( I am from Eastern Europe) but I have finally saved enough to buy my first real knife. ( apart from 15$ cheap "knives" ) And so after watching this video I decided that I want to make that Reate K-2 my first knife I bought. Altho I would much more prefer something with MokuTi but goddamn I can't afford that any time soon. Thank you Jim, for teaching me so much about knives, spreading the knife-love and for your hard work and dedication in sharing your knowledge with others. Reate knives are very well build, no doubt about it, however for the price, Reate has to start using more premium blade steels, such as M390 or 204P. Who can tell me if you would prefer a Microtech Socom Elite, or L.U.D.T. with a M390/204P steel or a Reate for the same same price range with SN35V? I believe the answer is very straight forward. Thanks for the video, and yes the K-2 Reate are something special.
Is M390 or equivalent better? Of course, but still there is nothing wrong with S35VN. Anyway it's not an issue anymore, as they do use more premium steels now
I just bought the last bronze variation of this knife that blade hq had in stock, picked it out of the 3 knives i was having trouble deciding between cause i wasn't sure it would last long......ordered it and then it's out of stock haha.
Never seen that bronze version before! Loving that... I need some more Reate in my life. I have a review of the Horizon C coming very soon and hopefully ill get to experience more in the future.
$325 is the equivalent of four months salary for a Chinese worker employed by knife and other manufacturing companies, plus they have zero human/ worker rights and are free from all law suits on copyright and consumer advocacy so it’s not hard to believe a knife of this fidget quality can be made for this price. When you consider the aforementioned, it’s a rather over priced itch scratcher, though it is a very nice itch scratcher.
John Krebs Kizer is cheaply made. It’s like comparing a Chevy to a Cadillac. Also: Kizer will never be on my channel because they built their business on stealing from custom Knifemakers. Over the last 2 and a half years they sought out makers, gave them royalties and benefits that were unprecedented in this industry in order to bribe them into their brand and collected a stable of reputable names in order to legitimize themselves. That’s why you’ll never see any Kizer knife on my channel.
Completely agree knives aren't that sharp these days esp from custom guys seems production like spyderco and sog are giving some sharp blades on there top models
You know this is making me crazy with all these knives and NO PLACE to buy them ... Come on now ! What's the Deal here ? Put it up here let me buy a Knife !!!!!
R B The majority of knives I review are customs. Typically one of a kind customs. And usually from a maker with closed books. But if the maker I’m highlighting is taking orders, I give you the info in the description of the video. In cases like this particular knife, it’s a production knife. Sold by dozens and dozens of online retailers. One need only to Google “Reate knives” to find one of them.
yes but do i have a choice if i did i would buy USA 🇺🇸 even if cost more. why support China .I did that in the tin Business and sooner or later we lost all Business. we were small company we let the Chinese help us and now we don’t have a business because I can do it cheaper

Jim Skelton is doing a review on a knife available price wise to mere mortals?!?
Thank you but steal outside my getting wallets price range
Uh, there's a difference between a "review" and an "advertisement"
That sculpted one is excellent 👌
Been carrying this knife for almost a month, and absolutely love it!
Reate is killing it
Good video Jim well done 👍

Reate every time. No question. Microtech I don't care for one bit

@@MrRoboto1963 that's because you don't really know quality.
How can you not buy a quality folder for 325$?

Kizer knives in the same materials cost 100-150 less. The fit and finish on these any better?

Jim Skelton wow didn't know that was the case. Thank you for response
John Krebs I have a Kizer Bambu and the action is awful. The pivot squeaks and feels like it's running on sandpaper.
His name is really David Dang?? Dang
"Never too soft, never too hard, that's what she said."
XD
If it was drop point or anything but a tanto I'd have one
Sour it's designed to look like a katana. Wouldn't make much sense for it to be drop point
This intro has been boosted from honest trailers from screen junkies. Just thought you would like to know that Jim
nice grind
Completely agree knives aren't that sharp these days esp from custom guys seems production like spyderco and sog are giving some sharp blades on there top models
It most surely is...
He made it
just an observation I don’t like to see was going on in the knife Business personal opinion
