    Watched your video and went directly to buy a NB F80 for my eakins microscope. For my surprise this went better than expected, I hooked up the microscope stand directly to the arm plate with the provided clamping screw. Let me tell you it works great. And the working área is now more than 50 cm Wide and long. Thanks.

    This is wonderful. I have seen others done it on here but they have not shared the details. It should fit mono hdmi unit and lens too. I used hdmi camera, mono lens 180x and view via a screen. I have been using the arms and stand demonstrated by Micro repairs Ltd. It cost around £135 with postage on Alpress. The cod3r uses the same one with his microscope. A very good one to use but can make grinding squeaky metal noise if not maintained.

    It's work perfectly, I done the same thing one year ago with a digital one and with 50 euro more or less I got the best microscope articulating arm I never seen.

    This is awesome! I had a similar idea a while ago. I wanted to make a 90deg mounting adapter that would attach to the VESA mount and then I'd bolt on the original height adjustment tube, preserving the Z slider mechanism as-is. I would mount the tube hanging down from the adapter to give me the maximum Z working height and adjustment range.

    Brilliant, thanks for sharing! Just been exploring a 'scope setup and baulking at the high shipping cost or locally inflated price of the arm being a big chunk of the setup. I figured a monitor arm could be a great low cost substitute and a quick google search "monitor stand microscope" brought me straight to you. I just wasn't smart enough to think of splitting the focus bracket the way you have.

    Is there a way to fix the difference in the field view being much much more narrow then what you see through the lenses ?
    I know i need some kind of adapter, but which one ?

    • @NewRetroRepair
      @NewRetroRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh hey! I recently subbed to your channel. Great GPU repair content btw!
      Anyway as for the field of view, assuming you mean the camera FOV you need a reducer. You generally want to marry up your camera reducer to the same level as your objective lens.
      If you're using a .5x objective lens then also install a .5x reducer on the camera port. If you already have a .5x reducer then you can swap it out for a .35x as that'll widen up the field of view on the camera.
      Bear in mind though your camera's CMOS sensor is rectangular and your viewing port/lenses are round. That's why the camera sees a reduced field of view versus the eye cups. If you use too large a reducer on the camera port you'll see the round shape of the lens itself.
      I'm making the assumption here that you're using a trinocular scope. Anyway tldr; grab yourself a .35x and .5x CTV reducer.
      You can get those over at www.aliexpress.com/item/32972322264.html

The spring is really strong (or piston - whatever is there) and it won't stay in the position (ie. it will but it needs at least a few kg of weight). Anyone know the cheapest Eakins trinocular kit to buy? Something that has just the minimum necessary parts. Which I think is just the trinocular microscope, the vertical focus mount, the right light and the .5x lens. I assume that's the one to get. I see a lot of focal lens options and have no idea which one to choose. With the camera or a recommendation. Hopefully all with free shipping. TIA. I'm spending way too long trying to find the best value kit without the arm or stand. Thanks much.

    • @NewRetroRepair
      @NewRetroRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A .5X objective Barlow lens is a good choice. It's pretty much the Swiss army knife of objective Barlow lenses.
      Your assumptions are all correct. Minimum is the scope head, an objective lens and lighting, and of course a VESA arm of your choice.
      If you want a camera module don't forget you'll also need a reducer. Match the reducer to your Barlow lens. So if you get a .5x objective Barlow lens, get a .5X reducer for your camera as well. I think they're called CTV reducers iirc.
      If you're trying to do this on a constrained budget consider other microscope heads. The only thing that needs to stay the same to use this particular vesa adapter is the focusing rack, which should fit just about any microscope. Some may need a reducer if the neck of the scope head is too small but that should be easy enough to 3D print.
