@@whiteley-ke4gh "Greatest Song" is rather an opus than a song...take your time for that. Dead Boys Poem (as Tuomas isn't that boy anymore) is a real ballad, like Sleeping Sun. How's the Heart will be first played live at their virtual concert, yet the accoustic one with Troy on guitar and her only, is the one that gave me chills, Shoemaker has a killer finale, so Tuomas wife needed to fill in, probably to give Floor some time for her assault on the highest notes she ever hit with Nightwish. Last but not least "The Poet and the Pendulum" (live from Wembley), which made it onto my podium of all Nightwish songs maybe even filling the very top step. It seemed to correlate with my mood back then, when I needed to listen to it 20 times in a row after my first hearing!
Brought back? Yeah. Next level? Mmmm... no. Tarja was the first one I’ve heard, and all Floor did was come close to what she has done. I won’t say neither one is better than the other because they’re both good and have different styles. So I won’t go there saying Floor brought this band to a whole new level because I believe she has not done that. The entire band has to do just that, and Floor has helped.

My favourite - "Seven Days to the Wolves (Live at Wembley Arena)". It has everything you could ever want from a Nightwish performance and it always makes me happy.

One caveat, since Tom commented about Nightwish not using foul language - Master Passion Greed is a rage track directed at Tarja's husband, and it does contain the one and only F-bomb Tuomas included in song lyrics. By all means give it a listen, just be aware and make sure the little ones aren't around when you do.

When I discovered Nightwish a year ago, I plowed through their discography and all concerts in two weeks. I cannot imagine the amount of restrain I would need, if I were a reactor!

think "Hell" and "Damn" might be the only words you'll hear in a Nightwish song that might qualify as a curse word. Tuomas's lyrical style is loftier than that. i bet if you piss him off, he's capable of making your ears burn, but, you won't hear it in his music.

Great to hear more from Sarah (no disrespect Tom😉) - she's got an eye for detail. Over the years I hadn't really been interested in lyrics and their meaning - but with Nightwish I think it's very desirable - you go into a song fully prepared and it has more of an emotional effect on you, ( so many people are in tears as a result - especially to Poet and the Pendulum)! If you're going to double up with The Greatest Show on Earth - even more so, especially at the end - very overwhelming! Looking forward to it.
Sarah is now officially the goat !! She caught Floor’s growls 😂 My wife is a singer and when we got this DVD years back she didn’t catch it but I stopped the DVD and was like “Did she just growl?” 😂 We saw them about 9 months earlier at House of Blues in Orlando and Floor had only replaced Annette 14 days earlier . She did not growl on this song at that show. She still crushed the show but she wasn’t as familiar with the songs yet and was still working on putting her stamp on them.

Hey Tom, during this song you will notice that Emppu walks behind Floor and she spins a bit and says something to him and he grins. What happened is Emppu reached behind Floor and unplugged her in ears that the band has in there ears for cue marks and the such. She has to plug her in ears back on while continuing on without missing a single beat. Its that comradery is what makes this group so good. Songs about the stars, the moon and evolution. The beauty of nature and the joy of discovering and learning about it. So it should come as no surprise they're loved in the science world.
I LOVE Sarah's journey with Nightwish! I can assure her that they don't use profound language. But think of the songs as if they were from the Grimm brothers. Tails that sometimes are really scary but many of them are just beautiful. Much love

nigthwish music is a celebration of human achievement and creativity. The sound has changed over time but then people change over time as well, whether good bad or indifferent. Me I have enjoyed it all pretty well from the start, although the latest album is so different it did catch me off guard but I love it now.

You have yet to hear the songs of Human:Nature that Tuomas wrote specifically for Floor! I think some of them are unsingable for nearly anyone else...
You really need to try...... Master Passion Greed.....NightWish at their hardest
This!! Their heaviest song by far from angry Tuomas. And talking about vulgar language, this song is probably their only one with f-bomb.
One caveat, since Tom commented about Nightwish not using foul language - Master Passion Greed is a rage track directed at Tarja's husband, and it does contain the one and only F-bomb Tuomas included in song lyrics. By all means give it a listen, just be aware and make sure the little ones aren't around when you do.
When you see this song you again realize how much Marco will be so missed.

That being said, I should give you a heads up on the live videos uploaded via DvD or Blue ray that have faulted on the bitrate transfer and finalized either too slow or too fast on TH-cam. So, please when you do your Nightwish reactions, make sure you're videos were uploaded by "Nuclear Blast Records" or "Nightwish" if at all possible, if only to avoid a false introduction to a video.
A vocal coach recently reacted to "I Want My Tears Back" Buenos Aires 2018 and I couldn't even watch the whole thing because the video she was reacting to was just too fast. I actually felt bad! Like she was cheated out of what would otherwise have been an absolutely awesome experience.

think "Hell" and "Damn" might be the only words you'll hear in a Nightwish song that might qualify as a curse word. Tuomas's lyrical style is loftier than that. i bet if you piss him off, he's capable of making your ears burn, but, you won't hear it in his music.
You mostly won't hear it in his music, anyway. If you really piss him off, you get Master Passion Greed.

Great to hear more from Sarah (no disrespect Tom😉) - she's got an eye for detail. Over the years I hadn't really been interested in lyrics and their meaning - but with Nightwish I think it's very desirable - you go into a song fully prepared and it has more of an emotional effect on you, ( so many people are in tears as a result - especially to Poet and the Pendulum)! If you're going to double up with The Greatest Show on Earth - even more so, especially at the end - very overwhelming! Looking forward to it.

Sarah is now officially the goat !! She caught Floor’s growls 😂 My wife is a singer and when we got this DVD years back she didn’t catch it but I stopped the DVD and was like “Did she just growl?” 😂 We saw them about 9 months earlier at House of Blues in Orlando and Floor had only replaced Annette 14 days earlier . She did not growl on this song at that show. She still crushed the show but she wasn’t as familiar with the songs yet and was still working on putting her stamp on them.

Hey Tom, during this song you will notice that Emppu walks behind Floor and she spins a bit and says something to him and he grins. What happened is Emppu reached behind Floor and unplugged her in ears that the band has in there ears for cue marks and the such. She has to plug her in ears back on while continuing on without missing a single beat. Its that comradery is what makes this group so good. They trully are good good friends and enjoy each other company. There having tons of fun on stage each night. Family. Enjoy, stay safe and always have fun. Cya

I find it easier to answer the question, "what is your favorite Nightwish song" with, YES. I use to have favorites when I first started listening. But, like many people each new song became a favorite. So now, every one is my favorite, or the one I am listening to now.
Watching Floor own that stage the way she does is such a beautiful sight. Emppu´s guitar work is awesome in this one!
Tuomas and Emppu are the only original members left. From Songfacts.com: "This was one of the first songs to be written for Imaginaerum and was described by keyboardist and composer-in-chief, Tuomas Holopainen, as, "a duel between the Devil and Mother Gaia." (Mother Gaia is the goddess who the ancients believed represented Earth). I love the dark side and I love all kinds of evil stuff, so we needed a few songs to describe those. 'Ghost River' and 'Rest Calm' are the two songs that are talking about the dark side of life."
So your wife's name is... Sarah Tuffnuts? lol. Nightwish has done a lot of songs based on fantasy and literature. But, there's more. They also made a lot of science based songs. Songs about the stars, the moon and evolution. The beauty of nature and the joy of discovering and learning about it. So it should come as no surprise they're loved in the science world.
I LOVE Sarah's journey with Nightwish! I can assure her that they don't use profound language.
But think of the songs as if they were from the Grimm brothers. Tails that sometimes are really scary but many of them are just beautiful.

nigthwish music is a celebration of human achievement and creativity. The sound has changed over time but then people change over time as well, whether good bad or indifferent. Me I have enjoyed it all pretty well from the start, although the latest album is so different it did catch me off guard but I love it now.

I would love to see you guys react to something from their Wishes to Eternity concert with Tarja back in 2000. This was before Marco had joined the band and they still had Sammi. They were all so young and the sound is amazing. Elvenpath and Fantasmic are really great ones to listen to if you check out that concert!
