    The launch of the EV300D goggles was quickly followed by the latency issues many users have experienced - including me. Eachine has been releasing new firmware versions, which have improved the performance of the EV300D.
    For the latency tests I used a 240fps recording of the test setup and goggle screen and compared the milliseconds passed from the time my test LEDs lit up until the time the LEDs showed up lit in the goggles. At the time of making this video, the latency of MY EV300D has been at best double the latency of MY HD3 goggles. I hope Eachine releases a firmware that fixes this issue completely. Other users have reported much better results, which may be due to the fact that various firmware versions have been posted on Eachine's Facebook page, linked on their website and in their updating instructions sheet. It has been hard to keep track of the exact version of each firmware and there is no changelog (so far), which has not made things easy.
    Aside from the latency issue, power consumption is high (especially with both receiver modules in use) and the housing of the lens assembly obscures MY view of the corners of the screens.
    FPV goggles is a very personal matter - they could be your next 4:3 set of goggles, as long as the latency is fixed.

    It must me just me but I had these goggles for a couple of weeks and I hated them. Although my face is quite normal I never managed to get the goggles fit so I fully see the screen. I had a bit of a shade while using them making them unusable. My sight is normal without any diopters but EV300D were straining my eyes so much. Once I put my trusty Cyclops box goggles it felt like I upgraded. Binocular goggles are not for me. I won't buy any binocular goggles, especially ones that are $300+

      Goggles are a very personal matter and a good fit depends on a lot of things. The faceplate of the EV200D and EV300D fit my face very well but for the optics I ended up switching to the HDO2. I still disagree with (and am annoyed by) some of Fatshark's choices but the image is very good. Headboxes are a very different thing.

    Painless 360 said the firmware update he used brought it down to about where fat shark is. Do you think this is now ok to buy or dose it have to many problems I have the 200d Google's and they work fine the picture is good. This Google is feather packed but I don't want a Google with high latency. Please advise.

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am aware of the results of other people and the fact that Eachine has (at least until I made the video) no changelogs or proper naming for each firmware version made troubleshooting the latency issue a pain. I am waiting a while until there is a final firmware that works 100%. This and the high power consumption are my main gripes, otherwise the goggles are good for the price. Knowing that there may be an issue that you will need to fix yourself, it is up to you to decide if it is worth your hard earned cash. Also if you don't intend to fly 4:3, it would be better to stick to a native 16:9 screen

    Has anyone found a good battery setup for. this? The included 18650 battery case lasts 15minutes tops even with6000mah. A 3s pack will last an hour but the goggles osd battery level only works for 2s so you don't have indication is 3s is low so it drops too low blacks out goggles and you ruin your 3s pack.

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The EV300D are battery hogs but 15 minutes on 6000mAh cells is suspiciously low. There is either something wrong with your goggles or your cells are fake with very low capacity. I am using Panasonic's 3400mAh cells in everything that works on 18650 and I am very happy with those. I cannot remember how the battery level indicator in the OSD of the goggles behaved when using something higher than 2S.

    • @Shauny_D
      @Shauny_D 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      muteFPV yeah it's terrible on any 18650 batteries. I went through a month worth of support tickets with Eachine and they refused to acknowledge it could be a problem. Goggles black out with once 18650 batteries show half charged on included pack. Same with multiple brands, and mah values on batteries.
      3s is ok though I just have to set a timer to remember to swap.

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a bummer. Sounds like they should cover it (although I think Eachine / Banggood have a very short warranty period). Do you have any way of measuring current draw while goggles are powered on and voltage at which the goggles black out? You could measure these with a multimeter, no need for fancy equipment. Do you have another battery case to try? Do you charge the cells inside the battery case?

    I have testet mine with the Firmware that was releast on 25.02. and a Caddx sdr2 plus frestyle and had a latency about 50 to 60 ms. But I also noticed in the field that the
    reception was not as good as with the orginal Firmware.

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you have the horizontal lines some people have reported? I haven't noticed any reception issues but I haven't had great latency results yet either. After I prepared this video, Eachine included the firmware in their product page (until then it was only posted on Facebook), which I haven't tried yet. I had also found 2 instruction sheets with 2 different links for the firmware and the lack of documentation or version naming of the firmware makes it impossible to know which is which and what has changed... I hope things become clear and 100% fixed.
