I really like how the orange wicked off the wood to put the few spots on the disk you ended up using. That might be useful in the future, for controlling color distribution in the resins.
Nick, Consider still putting an LED light behind your OOPs piece. But drill out shafts from a central core so the light comes out in different locations.
Hi Nick, great save from something that didn't quite work out. It's good to see you show what didn't work, then make it up as you go along. Very watchfull video's. Keep e'm coming.
Watching this and I just had an idea I wonder if you could pull off with wood and resin . But the T virus containers from the resident evil franchise . A twisted pair of led lights inside a resin cylinder and then the end caps turned down from some lovely wood. Would make a fantastic desk light too .
Look great. Just keep cutting different layers of thickness from that bur and you make more . Or cut them have them on there sides make something like a crooked wine rack and light behind the disk you cut.
Nic, look forward to seeing what a really polished up product look, the difference between your normal finished polishing and really like glass .thanks
Great creativity again and perseverance. Good to do new stuff but night lights or evening relaxation lights could be something to go with on another project - it has certainly given me a few ideas for project with students I teach at school. Cheers!
I bet if you take the big piece and cut it up into discs' also I'm thinking they will be transparent also. I think things turned out just great. Happy New Year Nick and family
Nice piece. To improve the light effect you should have a look at adding a light diffuser. That will avoid the light being concentrated in one place and magnify your work
Also I believe you're supposed to flick the side of the bottle near the tip to get it to come out in drops. To answer you're question about the ink (15:42)
Such a fun little journey you took us on. I liked the final result. I am dying to know where you got that little sander I see you using? I only see it when you are working on the lathe. It looks like a great little tool though I bet the pads are not cheap. Please help????
Hi Nick Im such a HUGEEEEE FANNNN i love how you make things so colorful and funky....you so talented and funny and you just go with the flow and i was just writing you for a request or a to more so give you a idea. I think you should make something with resin and the wood shaving i have no idea as to what but that all i got and i will continue to watch and enjoy your show keep doing what you doing and keep it funky baby yeah
When you get a new bottle of alumilite pigment you have to cut the tip off. Otherwise you squeeze too hard and the tip pops off. You want to cut the tip down to where you see the pigment in the tip
Same with tubes of paint. Only cheaper tubes of paint can explode on you if you breathe on them wrong. Had multiple paint tubes pop at the opposite end (the end that is supposed to stay sealed) resulting in paint everywhere.
Great little project Nick, we call this a happy accident. Maybe you could save the other piece. Use a forstner bit and drill a hole from the back and put a light in it as well. Might turn out pretty good if you can get the rough part of that wood piece to shine inside the resin. Just a suggestion. Be safe my friend! Thanks.
I have had the exact same problem with Alumalite's dye coloring. I had blue dye explode all over the shop trying to get the stuff out. I think they are trying to make it so you don't have too many drops come out but it is a little to aggressive. I have just used a push pin now to widen the hole up.
Great video good save. Zac higgins has a good video about fixing the alumilite 1oz bottles. Basically use an awl to open the tip up a bit more i like it better than cutting the tips. Allows for better droplet control.
Hello Nick. Great videos. Just started watching them. I am new to the resin. Please let me know what’s the best clear resin and mould remover to use. Also I don’t have the pressure cooker thingiy. So if you have time can you do a video for the newbies. Please.
For a second there I thought "bloody hell, Rolf Harris has got a new job", but then I noticed you are a bit younger ;) Only just found you but loving your projects already.
I noticed that the burl wood with the rough side up, looks like a tiny miniature nature scenery - like hills and forest. It would be neat to take advantage of that and emphasize the appearance by staining the wood green. Then make a blank with it at the bottom topped with a transparent blue resin for the sky with a little solid white swirled through for clouds.
Would make a good night light. Beautiful use of the wood scraps.
Nick, you're very creative, love your work
Good save, turns out pretty cool 😎
Love it Nick! Love that you can change midstream and still make something cool!
The Bob Ross of woodworking.
"There are no mistakes. Only happy accidents." Awesome voice as well.
completely bob rossed it
Cameron Cook Don’t forget those pretty eyes
I'd like to see you make something using your waste from previous projects and resin.
I want to thank you for sharing that not every project goes as planned. I don’t turn wood but I do lots of various crafts and I mess up.
Far out! I like the Iron Man analogy! Very cool piece and love the light as well. 💙💙💙💙💙
This would be great as a crystal stand it’s pretty and all those colors would shine through your crystal or crystal ball!
Nice to see a channel that leaves in the mistakes and problem solving. That's real woodworking
Reminds me of a Dalek's eye Nick 👍🏻
I really like how the orange wicked off the wood to put the few spots on the disk you ended up using. That might be useful in the future, for controlling color distribution in the resins.
Another great piece. That would make a great night light for my grandson's bedroom. Thank you for sharing your work with the rest of us.
Admire how you show your flaws and errors in your videos but still manage to produce a fantastic piece. Great video pal
Iron man's night light! It came out really well.
I like the fact you find a way to use your accidents. Beautiful work of Art with the light and dark wood.
Green and orange equals brown. You need to go look at the color wheel again. Love your work. Keep up the weird projects!
Nick, Consider still putting an LED light behind your OOPs piece. But drill out shafts from a central core so the light comes out in different locations.
Brilliant using a hose clamp! The whole thing was "brilliant" A lovely night light! Thank you for your video!
Hi Nick, great save from something that didn't quite work out.
It's good to see you show what didn't work, then make it up as you go along.
Very watchfull video's.
Keep e'm coming.
Nice save using the offcut Nick, maybe if you slice the "failed" piece thinly you'd get some nice coasters or inserts for more turnings.
Alan Fisher I was going to suggest that too.
Also you can cut some thin pieces, drill a hole for a hanger, scribe ‘N/Z 202X’ and let your daughter give them as sun catcher gifts to her friends.
Agreed

Nick .... project for you... make a resin fish bowl (add rocks /fake fish plants /crystal blue water )
please make this.
The """""disaster"""" actually made it look pretty rad to me
Now that turned out bloddy brilliant! Love your videos, keep it up! Love from Norway
You are the one that inspires me to work with wood. Love your waffling.

That is friggin awesome Nick. Great job.
I think you deserve more subscribers with the quality of your vids and projects.
Look great. Just keep cutting different layers of thickness from that bur and you make more . Or cut them have them on there sides make something like a crooked wine rack and light behind the disk you cut.
It turned out so good - looks fantastic!

Mr. Amps hey thanks very much buddy take care and thanks for watching 👍🏽
who thought when he glued the wood together that it looked like Umbrella Corpes?? Lets see if theres RE fans lol
I did too!
I'm not a fan but my son is. He's played them all from classic to new and I can see what you mean.
Black mesa gang all the way

Awesome save. Could be used for an awesome nightligh.
The orange spill made it look like a crime scene...😁
It looks like koi in a pond shot from above. It'd make an awesome nightlight.

Great video Nick!
That small round blank would make a nice little bowl for keys or change or anything small like that.
Nice piece.

I like it what you think was a fail actually turned out to be very beautiful
I am watching the video with my grandfather and I like it 😜😋👍🏼
I love the way u say garage. Here in Alabama in the US we say it like guh-roj. But I love the way u say it.
Super nice!
Аleksey Bek thanks 👍🏽
"let's see if I can get this out of here with a little tap" *Slams it on the table as hard as he can* 😆😆
Great recovery. I think I may have scrapped it.. keep up the good work

I don't know what an arc reactor is, but the finished piece is really nice. A great night light. LOL
You should have turned the bottom part into a bowl, the way the wood would show through inside would look really cool
Loved this so much could u make more of these as a set perhaps
love your work.
It would be awesome to see you do a piece in inspiration of kingdom hearts 3

Would have been an awesome lighted clock. Hope you do something like that and make it a clock. Maybe in red. Awesome.

your projects are always so fun I just wish Resin/ Epoxy was not so expensive
Nice work.
