  • This video is us putting together our new Sleep EZ queen foundation and their 10” organic latex split queen mattress.
    Background
Our previous innerspring mattress lasted about 5 years before becoming a crater. We had narrowed down to 3: Tempurpedic, Purple, or a latex mattress. Based on our own research, we ultimately decided we wanted to try a latex mattress for their history of durability and to stay away from the potentially harmful chemicals in memory foam. We purchased this mattress and foundation with our own money, definitely not sponsored. Price + ease of use landed us on Sleep EZ, no pun intended. Any of the top latex mattresses sellers should be similar.
We ordered per their recommendations for our body weight: Dunlop-Firm, Dunlop-Medium, Talalay - Soft

We received our 10 inch split King mattress today and I watched your video again to refresh and want to thank you again for how informative it is. If you want, I'll let you know in the next month or so what our impressions are or whether we made changes in the layers from the original configuration?

Just the video that I was looking for. You took the protector off to soften your mattress but what if you had put the soft side on top would that have made any difference? We're seriously looking at this company so any advice that you could offer would be helpful.

Brian, thanks for watching! I think the tension of the mattress protector is what made it feel firm. It might stretch? There was a noticeable difference to us when we removed it. I’d recommend, if possible, finding a latex bed locally to test, as they’re a different feel. Thankfully we found a store about 1.25 hours away that had their own version. Best wishes on the decisions! Mattress buying is no joke.

@@thelaurelthicket5168 Thanks for your reply it's always better to actually speak to someone who has purchased the mattress that we are looking at. Two more questions for now if you don't mind? 1.) Edge support, any issues? 2.) Does the mattress sleep warm/hot? Thanks in advance.

@@brianbollan7069 sure thing! We don’t have any issues with the edges, but I need to test to confirm if it’s supported much or not. Sleeps very neutral on temperature, it is not hot sleeping at all.

Brian, the edges do “squish” down = no edge support, but seems to quickly firm up as you get further on the mattress. It feels natural getting out of the bed, but I could see where it might not be good to set on the immediate edge of the mattress.

Can you use this on a platform bed?

Fee fee, I’d say as long as it has a solid foundation it would be ok. I’m not too familiar platform bed construction. I looked at their FAQ’s in their website and someone asked about it being in the floor. While not the same thing, their response indicated a solid foundation being important, “An all-latex mattress requires a solid and sturdy foundation, therefore the floor is acceptable to be used as your foundation.” If the slats are as close to what’s on their foundation, I think it would work.

Updates? After a few months what are your thoughts?

We’ve been pleased with it overall. I’m glad we went this route. It took a bit to get use to at first since it was a change. I will note, removing the provided mattress cover was a must for us. It helped to soften it up to what we were after. We had went through 2 memory foam toppers on our last (interspring) mattress, it needed something to make it comfortable. Unfortunately the memory foam toppers were hot and didn’t last long. The old interspring mattress lasted about 6 years before having a crater in the middle. For what we paid, I felt it should have lasted longer. Time to shop! After learning about the chemical exposure potential of standard bedding and the durability of latex we were sold. I do not notice my arms going to sleep or sleeping hot that I had with the previous mattress. I am fully expecting this mattress to last much much longer and the ability to change layers to suit is appealing. I would recommend trying to find a store that has latex mattress before purchasing if possible since it is a different feel that is subjective. Thanks for the question and watching!
