To get the small battery out you can do from under the jeep,behind the inner fender 3 screws and the battery cover and battery will come down then you can disconnect the positive and negative,it's a little pain but quicker then going through the top,I've done it already,to get the starter out angle the starter the best you can take out the screws for the backyard of the starter let it hang and should be enough to wiggle it out,there's a aftermarket starter which is around an inch shorter and should be easier to put back in without removeing the engine mounts,I'll find out if that's true this weekend when I remove my starter
If you cut the bolt off and took it out until it was out could you put a new one in from the other side of the mount? I have done many things that most thought but I see no way to get mine off to tighten the ground connection. The best I can tell the aluminum pipe goes to the water pump, Maybe a trans cooling line? Cut and splice? I have had mine since 1/25/23 and put 200 miles on it and limped home every time I took it out and bought more parts with only 72K on it. Those things will be total junk when they are 10 years old
I did think about cutting that bolt off and pounding it through but it’s not my vehicle and I really didn’t have the set up for it plus then I have to go find another bolt. It wasn’t easy weekend project like it used to be. I do appreciate your comments and your feedback and I do believe you are correct that in 10 years those things will be junk
@@wanderlust4591 the red wire bracket seems to be the hang-up. I can get the tail just about high enough to drop the nose out and that is where it ends. I have been wrenching since 1962 and this beats all. That starter and harness must have all been in place before the engine went in. Going to remove the solenoid bolts and see if they will come out separately.
This is why I made the video because I cannot believe some thing was made this difficult. This is a jeep and what if this failed on the trail? There is no way that you could simply unbolt it and install the new part within a reasonable amount of time.
U only had to remove the wheel cover once you remove that theres 3 bolts u remove and the auxiliary battery comes down, or just disconnect fuse 42 and negative from the main negative also disconnect positive main battery and you wont have any power, no need to remove everything u did from the fuse box 😂 i dont trust now with this starter video

I just took my wife's out. and is is possible with a lot of cussing to take the cable and the plug out. then it is is just wigle wigle wigle. lol . just take out the tube clamp . that's it .

I was not able to remove it and the dealer told me to run it until it failed

I've messed with mine more than once and haven't seen a clear way to remove it. But im about at the point where I'll just try the Wrigling

I was not successful, lol. I put the starter back in and Take it to the dealer which recommended to use it until it just completely failed.
