I agree, "never been used" and "still in the box" is worse then being used everyday, life of electronic components remain the same whether you use them or not, I was given a computer monitor that was never taken out of the box and the box was never even opened, it sat in his closet for five years and It only lasted me six months after I started using it.
I bought this machine used from eBay for $400. It cost maybe another $300 or so to have it completely overhauled. Considering that these cost around $1200-$1500 new, back in the early 1980s, which is like $3500 in today's money, that wasn't too bad.
It all depends on the condition of the unit. I've seen them sell on Ebay from $100 to over $1000. You said it has never been used, but that doesn't mean it is in good condition. When these machines sit for years and years, the belts, capacitors and other parts will rot and go bad anyway. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss further.
hi rick . my teac1000x spins in reverse when i attempt to record , im a newbie and this confuses me . can you demonstrate how to load tape and record using the functions of this machine ,, feeling frustrated in canada
For 30-year-old technology, these machines are still pretty amazing....this format deserves to be kept alive....
