    The song is older than you think. It was written in 1948 by Stan Jones. It has been sung by most Country & Western stars including Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash.

      Yea and there is no connection with the movie except it is used as the theme!!

      Roy Rodgers and the Sons of the Pioneers' version was the first version I heard, then
      Marty Robbins.

      Yes, I don't think this is from the movie(s). He apparently likes to cover Johnny Cash songs. Low Bass.

    The man who wrote the song, Stan Jones, penned it after hearing an old Native American from Arizona tell him a story. It was basically about how when a person dies, their spirit goes into the sky. I suppose, later, it gradually became intertwined with cowboys, too

    Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. I love all your reactions. Geoff in the middle is the one seeing the other 4 ghost riders. That's why they are slightly transparent & the skin is white. When the other ghost riders sing they are in the background of the music to symbolize them being ghost far into the sky.

    This one goes 60 yrs back to my childhood. My adopted dad had a beautiful stereo and lots of Western/cowboy albums from Hank Williams, Sr., George Jones (He Stopped Loving Her Today), Johnny Cash, Tennessee Ernie Ford (16 Tons), Jimmy Dean (Big Bad John), Patsy Cline (Crazy and Sweet Dreams) as well as Marty Robbins who did this as did Johnny Cash. But our Johnny Cash album didn't have this one on it. So I grew up on Marty Robbins. I'd put the records on and do my chores since I was the first person home. I love these old songs.
    In this song our main singer is a cowboy going across the west, sees the cattle running across the sky and then the Ghost Riders from hell who had to try and round up the Devil's herd for eternity. They gave our guy a warning to change his ways or they would see him as another rider when dead. You can see the ghostliness in their transparency in the view of the scenery.

    Love this song by Geoff. Remember hearing this as young but never caught on what the lyrics was about. As a child it was all about the Yippeays.
    Today I'm reminded about the Norse myth of Odin going on hunt, typically around New Year or Twelth Night, riding on 8-legged Sleipner hunting for witches and trolls. Time for all people to stay safe indoors!
    Geoff in middle is the guy out seeing the Ghost ride pass by, telling the story.

    This was a favourite of my Mum's, she sang it often throughout our lives and would have loved Geoffs version, as I do. The creepy eyed 'ghosts' look fantastic, Geoffs harmonies are always superb and I love that he sang in his gorgeous mid range for most of it though I'm a complete sucker for those rumbling bass notes! Loved your enthusiastic reaction, Yuri, thank you! 😁👍

    The most notable rendition of this song by Vaughn Monroe also Gene Autry written by Stan Jones ( 6/5/1914-12/13/1963)in 1948 he also recorded he inspired by folklore story he heard as a child,and there's covers by Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee and a comedy version by Spike Jones. Geoff does FLAME-TASTIC rendition 👍🏾👊🏾🎶🎶

    I think he's portraying the 'narrator' as the cowboy who witnessed the ghost riders going by. Definitely makeup. Makeup artist is Rick Underwood, he has done a lot of work with VoicePlay, he did the makeup for their "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and also did the makeup for their soon-to-be-released video for Halloween (yeh, Mountain King wasn't enough spookiness for them). I believe he works or worked as a makeup artist for the Universal themepark, where Geoff and Tony (former VP member) worked for quite a while.

      @janetdw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I first heard that Rick had a full-time job somewhere else I thought perhaps Disney, but I think you’re right- it’s Universal. Universal has a lot of live shows with characters like the Beetlejuice Graveyard review that Geoff , Kathy, J and Tony were all in at various times back in the day

    Over the last 75 years everybody and their dog has recorded a version of this song. But this is one of the best, right up there with the version Johnny Cash did back in the 70s.

    I recommend you listen to Stan Jones' original from 1948. It is listed on TH-cam as well. It was a western song long before appearing on Marvel movie. Side note: don't know when variations throughout the decades changed it, but the yippee yi oh(s) and yippee yi ay(s) have been reversed since Stan Jones originally sang it.

    Great reaction, Yuri, although the song is not based on a movie. I just loved this piece from him!

  • @jackyfriedman1963
    @jackyfriedman1963 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As others said. It is based on the original song from 1948 that is country and western. Not off the movies. The movies came much much later.
    All of the versions previous to the movie are country.
    Listen to the lyrics. Cowboys chasing a here or cows in the sky. Their all ghosts.
    Geoff in the middle is portraying the storyteller. The other 4 are the ghosts.
    Left to right...
    Jeff, Daryl, Geoff, Goff and Jeoph.
    Yep. That's Geoff's clones names now.

    My first recollection of hearing this song was when I was very young. It was sung by The Sons of the Pioneers. So, yes, it is an old western song. The ghost rider character of comic fame is much younger.

  • @Broomrider1492
    @Broomrider1492 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This has nothing to do with the movie. I remember this song from a cover by Marty Robins & Johnny Cash. It's all spray make-up. The BTS video was so crazy. Geoff is just telling the story of the cowboy who encounters the Ghost Riders who tell him he needs to change his ways or he's going to hell.

  • @christinestromberg4057
    @christinestromberg4057 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The song is not from a film, it's just an old song, written when I was 4 yrs old. I remember it from the late 50s sung by Frankie Laine, who was big at that time. It was good and memorable but this beats it hands down, for effect.

    This is fantastic. If you know and like the song, and being a musician yourself, you should check out this song as played by Glen Campbell and Roy Clark on guitars (Glen plays a 12 string). Those guitars were smokin'!

    Geoff’s character in the video is just a regular cowboy out wrangling cows. He encounters three ghost that legend has it are still out wrangling too. Thus the line they haven’t caught them yet. He’s just one of the locals who have witnessed the ghost riders himself and just like everyone else who encounters something phenomenal, he wants to tell us his own experience.

    It's definitely make-up. Even the costumes are partially "made up" with air brushes to get the right effects on the four ghost riders. His behind-the-scenes video shows the long process on makeup and costumes.

    It has always been a cowboy song I have no idea if this was the inspiration for Ghost Rider but I can see how it was as Bikers compared themselves to cowboys.

    Ghost Rider is one of my fav marvel characters too, but the song is not inspired by that character. I prefer the jonny cash version, but, I adore this version too. The talent is unreal

  • @nightthornkvala94132

    From left to right you have Jeff, Daryl (he just looks like a Daryl to Castellucci), Geoff (the non ghost), Goff (who's left handed, I just noticed), and Jeoph. All the way Geoff's name has been misspelled and mispronounced has borne fruit, I guess. (Check out the name tags on the "Geoffs" in his video Way Down.) I have to laugh that I had to explain to someone just 2 days ago that it's pronounced 'Jeff', not 'Gee-off' or 'Gi-off'. Wonderful video for a song I've known all my life through a myriad of singers. And this song has nothing to do with the movie character, which is a Marvel character taken from the comics starting in the 1970s. The song was written in 1948 by songwriter, film and TV actor Stan Jones.

    Well, the center Geoff is probably the cowboy being warned by the ghost riders to change his ways or he'll be joining their eternal damnation trying to catch the Devil's cattle. He isn't a ghost...yet.

    Definitely a cowboy song decades before the movie. Motorcycle gangs don't use the term yippee yi oh yippee yi ay...& they don't round up cattle either.

      @jackyfriedman1963 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The terms they yell are definitely cowboy not biker.
