If I were you, I'd upgrade my backpack first, then focus on the mines for a bit. Don't break every rock, just gather the valuable resources and go down ladders. The deeper you go, the more valuable resources you'll get, and reaching the bottom will unlock new features. Making money is slow at first, but you'll get buffs as you level up. And make sure you build a silo ASAP so you can harvest the grass on your farm as hay to feed your animals.
Once you have the coop, make sure to make a mayonnaise machine. If you make eggs into mayo, mayo sells for a decent amount, and almost everyone likes it as a gift. Sebastian's actually a programmer. That's why he spends so much time in his room on his computer...
A few people like salmonberries - Pam, Shane, Jodi, Robin and Demetrius, and of course Linus and Leah who like all forage items. But most people dislike them. Fortunately, Elliott is neutral towards clams and other beach forage items. At least he doesn't hate them.
Quick tip: you can buy the red backpack at pierre's for 2000 gold so you have 10 extra slots of your inventory for all the things you can find in the mine
Sebastian did not taking your money. A lot of people blame Linus But I don't belive it's him either. there is a little dude in the mines who ADMITS to stealing because his people don't understand personal property.
Since you spent the wood to repair that bridge on the beach and you’re looking to make some money, you could try picking up shells or coral. They are forage that builds up over the week, so it can be worth it to stop by looking for them on Fridays or Saturdays
I like to make a few chests to put around town - 1 at the mine entrance next to the elevator to deposit everything every 5 levels - 1 at the town river by the bush in front of Jodi's for river fishing - 1 at the ocean on the dock at the top left of Willy's for ocean fishing - and I like to put 1 at the southern entrance to the farm so I don't have to run all the way across my farm to do a quick dropoff
Elliott likes Lobster, Duck feathers and Pomegranates. You get ducks with an upgraded coop. He also likes cooked dishes like crab cakes and Tom Kha soup. You don’t have a kitchen yet to cook food though. You get Lobster and crab if you put crab pots by the beach with bait inside. Buy a Pomegranate sapling and plant it at the beginning of Summer because they take a whole season to grow and Pomegranate trees only bear fruit in Fall. Elliott’s birthday is Fall 5. Gifting a person a loved gift on their birthday gives way more hearts than on a normal day. Talking to people on festival days gives more hearts than talking to them on a normal day. Nobody likes berries or spring onions and they aren’t worth much money so they are just there for eating.
It may be obvious but if you quit the game before going to bed first everything you did that day will be lost, that’s why your sign was gone at the start of this video, the only time the game saves is when you go to bed
Marlin is unfortunately not considered a NPC so you can't befriend him :( hopefully there will be an update on him because I've always wanted to befriend him.
it hurt me to see you plant that cauliflower seed, it won't grow in time! if you read the description of the seed packet it tells you how long it takes to grow so you don't waste money like that (but i'm pretty sure everyone makes this mistake regularly and at least it was just one seed)
If it makes you feel better, once you marry your person of choice you're no longer walled off by the gift limit. You can gift them every single day and kiss them as much as you want lol
The library is also a great place for learning about the game without the wiki, a lot of books have people gift tastes and things like that :)

Says can't cuss in first 15min, then proceeds to cuss like crazy 😅 . Loving the videos so far!! I'm glad you're enjoying the game!!
This is a spoiler, but I'll try to keep it as secret as possible. At the end of year two, something happens.
:0 WHAT?
You can sell coral and other beach forage to bring in a bit of cash early on. They have some other uses as well, later on.

6:45 Did you just leave the level with 6-7 Copper Stones unharvested? That's more than half of what you need to craft one Furnace.
8:12 No, you can't give him gifts, talk to him, or marry him. And yes, I'm not keen on club type weapons. I prefer the 3-7 Wooden Blade.
17:57 You'll be ready for his Amulet once you've got Harvey or Elliott up to 8 hearts.
19:37 A gift given on a birthday has x8 times as much effect.
no, it's 10 hearts, you can give them a bouquet at 8 hearts
As you gather more lost books you can read them in the library for tips and secrets and watching the TV every morning will give you useful info
