- This was my once in a lifetime chance to visit the grounds inside and out of John Lennon's "Beatle" home from July 1964 to Dec 1968. I still felt John's spirit throughout the house especially in his attic studio. Located in the upscale St. George's Hill in Weybridge Surrey.

This is my house that I grew up in. The swing in the bottom of the garden was built by my father when I was a little girl. The painted walls in one of the rooms that looks like a circus tent was painted for my little brothers bedroom by our family friend who is an artist. When i was 7 we sold the house to a rich Russian family who knocked down the entire inside and then sold it and never even lived there. They ruined an absolutely amazing house. This video brings back all the memories thank you!

My brother was close friends with former school boy who lived here. We played in the garden.
Amazing story Cameron. I visited the house when the Russian buyer tore everything up to remodel interior.

Not trespassing if you get permission (which i did). I happened to stop by the house on one of my trips to London and the gate was opened. I asked the owner if he would mind me shooting a video since they were remodeling the whole house and he said okay. It was being at the right place and the right time. It can never happen again.
I'm 10 years behind. Wow. Goo had for me.

How did you even get in the security gate in the St. George's? There used to be a makeshift access path through some hedge row we went through when cycling about 20 years ago but when I checked a year or so ago it had been blocked off and sealed.
Similar thing happened to me. I went to visit Tittenhurst Park ( outside only) over 30 year's ago. Luckily the whole perimeter wall was down so you could see right across the Estate including the lake. Unfortunately I had no camera😖
@@da_great_mogul I grew up nearby and live down the road in Byfleet... You're right,until about 15 yrs ago, you could easily walk into St George's Hill...we used to use the side entrance on the road to Cobham and go for lovely walks and focus on Kenwood and Sunny Heights. Would see Cliff Richard in his roller quite often. Now, there is no way anyone will get in without passing security. Last time we slipped through the back (there was a gap now locked and gated!) we got questioned and asked to leave.
BMWproductionCo the circus ceiling wasn't actually in there when John Lennon lived there. It was built by one of my mom's best friends for me. That was my room, with the circus ceiling. And that's the answer to your previous question, the people that lived there before this video was me and my family. It was so sad to watch this but thank you so much Joe Baiardi for uploading this. It was so amazing to see where I grew up again.
Why was you living in England when you're American?

As my sisters have said, that was our home when we were little and the PHN at 6:58 is my initials, Palmer Harrison Nix, and that was my room when i was born until i was 5, i am now twelve. Thank you so much for uploading this video and letting me see my home again!!

Palmer your room was where John Lennon had host studio and wrote many Beatles songs. You were so lucky to have lived at this incredible historic house
If you read "John" by Cynthia lennon, she makes a lot of references to this house and the events which took place there. She discusses how the sun room at the back of the house became a sort of den for John to hang out in, how did a lot of writing and recording on the top floor in the attic room and that Yoko used to stand at the gates , hoping to catch a glimpse of John. She returned here after being on holiday , to discover John and Yoko sitting on the floor oblivious to her.

I am surrey born and bred I was born in St peters hospital in Chertsey surrey I lived in Byfleet most of my childhood Surrey is the most sought after county most celebrities live and buy a property where I live and work I see a lot of celebrities around

You were so lucky to have lived there. If I had unlimited funds I would build a house exactly like Kenwood, it’s always been my dream house
Also, the initials on the corner of the window at 6:58 that read PHN are the initials of my little brother that was also painted by the same artist who was a family friend. And someone earlier mentioned about Paul McCartney also living in St. George's Hill, one of my sisters best friends lived down the street in his house.
That was Ringo, not Paul, who used to live in St. George's Hill.

To get a feel for what the house used to look like, take a look at the home movies by John taken at Kenwood.
Isn’t it kind of bizarre that some guy could own that house, remodel it, and do whatever he wanted with it. When in fact, it should be a shrine. There are very few cultural sites where art was created that revolutionized the world as much.
I agree the house should have been preserved as it was in the 1960s. They could even have paid visitors there like "Graceland" you pay to see it. I don't like the word "Shrine" but a "museum" like the John Lennon house in Liverpool people can visit. This is a very historical house.

Amazing and sad at the same time... the attic room where many songs where created, the grounds where scenes for Magical Mystery Tour were filmed (Blue Jay Way)... and many photo sessions including the Rubber Soul cover and photos from 1967.... priceless !!
Oh, that attic room where Yoko introduced John to heroin for the first "virgin" time, they screamed all night, took their clothes off, and he decided he was going to kick his wife and young son OUT of his life for this rush. IMMEDIATELY after which, he did a LOT of heroin with her, becoming an addict, and soon broke up the band. The beginning of the end happened in this attic.

Sadly this house was remodeled into some bad taste modern style and you see nothing left that John Lennon spent 40k having Kenneth Partridge done the interior in very good 60 style with very great taste. The interior now ruined and looks like any nowadays condo, very bad taste. They should have kept interior as it was and just fix it up. Thanks for posting this though, you are lucky to be there. I can see where George and John stood on the near windows and checked out the ceiling in a few of the old photos 9:00
What a beautiful house. He was better protected there then in New York.........sadly. I know that John spent much of the time upstairs due to renovations, whoever had the house afterwards didn't do so well on the upkeep inside.
Looks a superb place. But John was a restless guy, had to be doing new things with new people.
I was always jealous that my brother got to meet Macca at his front gate and that he also dropped by and rang the front door on this house, I believe 1967 era, and Cynthia answered the door but said John was out. Probably said that to every fan brave enough to go in the yard. Ya, why isnt this a heritage home? That top floor, I read in Cyn's book, was where he worked on a lot of music and a mini recording location. Cool stuff.
Just “Imagine” all the incredible music John created in that attic. His studio was up there as well as his model race car track. I heard he was very cruel to Julian and when Julian broke one of John’s toy cars he went into a rage.

at 5.18 you see a swing well it was still there in 2010 when i delivered oak beams to the new owner who was having a swiming pool built at the very bottom of the garden
Would've been cool if Julian had been told about the renovations and gotten to walk around a bit.. he might have wanted to see it one more time before they upgraded everything. Unless he had already done that.
Wow what a very special place that is, strawberry fields was written in there. The attic room should be preserved,it's all john's art work,if the walls could talk what story's they'd tell.

I understand that John felt guilty living in that house because he considered it gauche. It’s in a neighborhood called Stockbrokers Row and he didn’t think he deserved it.

He lived at this House (Kenwood) with Cynthia and Julian from 1964 to 1968 -just the "Beatlemania" Years. I`m Brazillian, sorry by my poor English. Bye

St georges hill in weybridge surrey is a lovely place I used to live in a village called Byfleet next door to weybridge surrey the most expensive place to live in the uk

Very cool! Pretty darn sure that the Rubber Soul album cover photo was shot there which makes that place worth a fortune on it's own if you ask me. John lived there from, I wanna say around mid 64 to sometime in 68 if I'm not mistaken, Chances are he penned a number of tunes from Beatles for Sale to Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour and a maybe even a bit onward while he was living there.
You are completely correct. I’ve been to the house inside and out about 3 times many years ago. The cover was shot in the driveway on the opposite side of the house

Allegedly John wrote stuff like In My Life, Day Tripper and Across the Universe in the upstairs of that place. That house should be preserved and turned into a museum lol. I can imagine John penned many of songs and had many of trips in that place.

Wow, brilliant vid, thanks or posting!! Your are so lucky for getting to see this!! I read the description of this house in the Hunter Davies biography, but it is far more beautiful in reality, and having visited Johns childhood home in Menlove Avenue last week, I can say its a far cry from there!!
The backyard garden was used for the cello scene in Magical Mystery Tour.
It was ringos home just down the street from johns that they shot the blue jay ways scene but both homes have equally beautiful rockeries
John was great but if he had stayed here or Tittenhurst Park he might still be alive today.

Where is the video that compares this with Lennon photos from the time he lived there I've watched several times before but the photo comparisons have been removed would love to see again, all in all though if those walls could speak so many great songs written in that home ✌️
Watching this I can kind of see why John moved to NYC. So opulent but lonely and isolated. I think he preferred the hustle and bustle of the city.
Paul would visit John at Kenwood most afternoons for a songwriting session.

That's all I could think of too. This was Cynthia and Johns house, containing all their dreams as a young family with Julian, playing in the garden. And one day Cynthia had to come home to it to find Yoko sitting in Cynthia's own robe, having just spent the last 4 days in Cynthia's marital home with John. And Yoko just glared at her in triumph, get out, it's all mine now. The place is so haunted. It SHOULD be a museum. I can just imagine the tour: And THIS is the attic where Yoko introduced John to heroin and took off her clothes for the world ...

ringo had a house on the same private estate called sunny heights and john's son julian used to play with the neighbour's kids they put a video on youtube they do a little tour of the estate and show you photo's of julian and themselves when they were kids type in st georges hill on here

Why not. Not everybody is a Beatles fan. The Arab guy who bought Tittenhurst Park from Ringo completely gutted out TP and made it unrecognisable from John's time. And TP is a listed building. Council slaughtered him for that. Still when your richer than god who cares.

Lennon vivio en la casa del Men love en su ninez y adolescencia. Aqui vivio con su primera esposa Cynthia y su hijo Julian. Creo que la casa esta abandonada.
